My 1938 Special business coupe has two RH headlight lenses installed. I need a LH version. Purchase or trade one of my RH lens? Thanks! John

I don't think I have any spare lenses at the moment John. But you are correct unlike the 1939 Buicks the 1937 and 1938 Buicks had left and right lenses. They are marked left and right above where it says Multibeam. You might try posting on the 1937-1938 Buick Yahoo group. It's free to join us.

It seems to me that I have two of one side on the shelf - I will have to take a look and see which side I have.

Murphy's Law would suggest I have the same two that you do, but I will check anyway.

Thanks Jeff, please do. Mark, Dave T told me he doesn't have any. John

I haven't forgotten you, just haven't pulled it off the shelf yet.

By the way, doesn't the lense have a tab that prevents the RH from going into the LH bucket?? Are you sure its a '38 Buick - what's the number on it?

I'll check mine.

Jeff

Sorry, I checked my spare parts shelf and have one spare Multibeam RH lens, and two generic aftermarket lenses. These are the result of about four consecutive years of searching Hershey with a scrap trim ring in hand. I visit the guys who have one or two miscellaneous lenses. If the lens fits, I buy it! The lens specialists seem to want an exorbitant amount of money for the Multibeam lenses. Jeff

Hello Jeff,

Do you still have the R/H lens? Also, do you know the GM number for it, as well as the small retaining clips? Still to figure out the correct way to assemble the lens into the bezel... Mine was assembled incorrectly, the lens it partially broken and there was only one retaining clip...

Phillip, Bob's Automobilia in California used to sell the headlight lenses retaining clips. Don't know if they still have them though.

Also, do you need a very nice condition, original owner's manual (glovebox manual) for your '38? I have one available. Reasonably priced. Just PM me, if you want to see photos of it. John

It may not look like it, but there are a bunch of different clips about like that, and they probably need to be the right year. I expect Bobs will have 1938, but if they don't, you can bend your own out of music wire if you have a correct one to copy. I have done it after buying some the wrong year and finding out they wouldn't stay in.
