BqUICK
You got it right; with a 4.11 spool I'm in the traps at 6000 rpm; with 3.33, 5200 and the 1/4 is still 12.99 - 13.04. NY IN'TL RACEWAY PARK in 2007 with my '69 225 and Guadagno 455 STAGE 1. Tire height changes were the same deal for me too; NO SOAP.NEED MORE POWERRRRR! I like your Wildcat; that is dynamite performance for a big car. Buick does not disappoint! My '69 225 Convert pulls 15.5s at 89mph with 'ear tune' and only 2,5" exhausts, the rest dry bleached bone stock. You gotta love it; going fast with class!!!God Speed, Edited January 5, 2011 by BqUICK (see edit history)

Guest 54fins
More horsepower and less weight are obvious, but a 2.73 rear end is a pretty darn high ratio for drag racing. I'll bet the 3.5 will make a huge difference. Surprised you are not going for a 411. I assume you have a 3 speed automatic?

Guest 70sabre
Alright man those are some sweet numbers ya gotta help me out though. I've got a 70 lesabre 4dr custom 455 bored 30 over hei distributor from t/a, ta112 cam, t/a stock pistons with 23cc dish, and everything else is stock. 2.73 open diff stock torque converter. Now I can average 15-17 mpg on the highway but even crazier than you trying to make a drag car out of one of these lovely boats I'm trying to make an all around good handling stopping 1/4 mile eating cruiser. So my question is how???? Just like you can't find any rear end help, what curve do you have on your distributor and how much of a difference did your new 2200 stall torque converter make compared to stock? pphil
when i started i ran low 16's all stock 2.78 open rear(but did get up to 19 mpg on the interstate) the converter dropped me down to 15.4 a posi carrier and dist re curve got me down to low 15's a 1 inch 4 hole carb spacer a 175 degree thermostat and cool October temperatures got me to a 14.58 basically all stock for a rear you need to find a 67-70 riv GS (these all came with a 3.42 gears) you can take the carrier and gears out and install in your rear i found mine for 500 on ebay bought the the whole car and parted it out or build a custom ford 9 inch scott

DualQuadDave
I would leave the 2.78's and put a low gear kit in the TH400. I have several combos like this and it's perfect. Same launch as 3.42's and a much better gear spread and keep your cruise. Win-win Edited June 15, 2018 by DualQuadDave (see edit history)
