This Pic of Budd Corleto, running a nailhead with Hillborn Injectors. His father owned a Buick Dealership in Phila , Pa. Steve Kanuika was the mechanic, along with Jungle Jim. I have a 63 Riv from that dealership. I think the record still stands for that class from the old Langhorne Speedway in Pa. They also ran at Atco Dragway in N.J.

Yes!

In your picture of Budd Corletto's nailhead powered rail, you mention Jungle Jim. You should post some pictures of Jungle Pam, the girl who backed him up after his burn-outs.

Hahaha! Totally. Kind of primal.

Apparently, that was her move.

Kind of makes you want to beat on your chest and play Tarzan of the Jungle.

86,600. It was only driven 1600 miles in the last 20 years and 400 miles the last 10 years. It takes 3-4 cranks to get her started but when she does, she purs like akitten. Super smooth. But, the exhaust does seem to spit out carbon or or as my garage floor is proof. Guessing that is the ethanol in the gas cleaning out the years of build up.

Just bought 2 I found that had been sitting out by a river since the mid 70's, missing lots of pieces and well worn....

It's not too bad. My exhaust could stand to be tucked up a bit higher. It has scraped a couple times on high spots, but it's not a factory style muffler configuration. It has dual mufflers under the rear seat areas.

Thanks for the info Matt. I'm going to change my exhaust once we do the engine/trans swap. It'll hug the frame and I'm going to go with a Waldron dual inlet muffler. They make a stock GS style muffler but you can order it with less baffling for more tone.

My biggest concern was the crossmember in front of the oil pan. I may have to go with a 2 inch drop spring because of the roads out here in LA. We have some STEEP drain dips all over this city. But, I love the look of the 3 inch drop.

But, I'm also running 225/75R/15's and it seems there's a lot of rubbing issues with those size tires.

What tires are you rollin on?

Maybe there will be a car show while I'm out in Michigan this summer or, all of us Riv guys could do a riv get together photo shoot.

Never mind about tires. Just read your previous post

It's really simple to start a new thread. Some folks who might be interested in your new thread but are tired of looking at pictures might not respond to your query because they'll miss it. Always better to start fresh and develop an interested following. You're likely to find ansers to your tire questions by searching previous posts. Start with the Advanced Search option, click on the tab for the Single Category, type in your keyword, then limit your search to the ROA forum. Otherwise you'll be reading threads about the correct size tires for a 1928 Maxwell and every other car that needs tires.

1965 Custom "Riv" update request

Saw your beautiful Riv at Goodguys Scottsdale last Nov. My friend and I are still talking about it (your car). You were parked on the other side of the yellow tape from our cars; his teal '34 Ford coupe and my red '56 big window. I took a few photos of it; the level of detail on your car is amazing.

A picture of my 65 Riv wearing a new coat of paint and just out of the paint booth at Then and Now in Woodstock Georgia. When the rest of the sheet metal, new headliner and black vinyl top are are installed I will bring her home and complete the assembly.

Just removed from a long hibernation is my '65 Riviera Gran Sport. Purchased by the 2nd owners in 1968 and stored since 1972. Rumored to have last been driven in 1981 or '82. This is an all there - numbers matching car with none of the rust issues these cars are known for. Odometer shows 18,290 miles and with the original parts/details under the hood and all around this car, it could easily make it believable. Check out those tri-band whitewalls... I'd love to keep it but must sell due to other responsibilities.

Rich, thanks for posting pictures of your Riv. I purchased my 65 from the second owners estate who purchased the car in 1967. They drove it regularly until his wife damaged the left front fender the latter part of 1986. The second owner then put it in their basement where I found it the end of 2009. The car was seafoam green with the dark green interior but already having a 1966 seafoam green Skylark I decided to go with the Verde green like yours.

I sure wish I could keep the Gran Sport I have up for sale. Divorce does funny things to people (wallets). May not be a Gran Sport but there will be a '65 Riviera in the driveway one day again !

This is how she sat when I first met her in California. :)

I'll have to post some more recent pictures of her after she's clean. :D

Everyone can probably picture a black 1963 Riviera but I'm betting not everyone has the window sticker to go with it - the original, not a reproduction. It looks nothing like this now; I drove it as my daily driver for 15 years. It's now awaiting restoration. I've discovered there are three T's to restoring a car - Time, Talent, and Treasure. For me, I can only seem to get any two of them together at once; never all three. :)
