  1. If they are like the "experts" who spout some of the gibberish on the televised auctions and car shows, then I wouldn't trust their opinion any more than I'd trust Putin.
  2. Does anyone here know who owned it in 1990 when it won the AACA award?
  3. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/328884873473312 1936 Jensen Ford former AACA-1st prize winner. One of only three left hand drive Jensens made and shipped to the US in 1936. Was ordered by Clark Gable the movie star. One of the other cars was sold in Arizona by RM-Southebys in 2016 for $247,500 serious inquiries only car is located in Cynthiana Ky
  4. I went to a cars and coffee cruise last Saturday - great if you like the new crap. It was about 1/3 older stuff and 2/3 new. Oldest cars were 60’s. Saving grace was the presence of a non-street drag only ‘68 Camaro that drove in, a ‘70 LS6 Chevelle, and a Superbird.
  5. The L71 is the 427/435 Corvette engine with 3 X 2. The L72 was 1966 only and 427/425 with single 4 barrel. The L71 was Corvette only. The L72 was Corvette & full size, and I believe it was installed in a handful of Chevelle.
  6. Part 2 of this story as promised. Someone on CT mentioned seeing it in the junkyard. I messaged him and got the name of the yard and phone number. When I called the yard to inquire about the car, I said “I don’t want to sound like a wise a—, but how do you know it’s a real L72 Biscayne?” His reply was “ cause I’m lookin’ at the build sheet.” My reply was “I’ll take it. Can I send you a money order?” About 2-3 weeks later it was in my brother’s shop in Indiana. Over the next 4-5 years, I lived on EBay, collecting correct parts with correct dates for it. The TI parts were difficult and expensive to buy. The 1 year only dual snorkel air cleaner search saw me with several of them (8-10) including one that was NOS. I found correct dated 858 heads for it about 10 miles from my house and correct exhaust manifolds off EBay. I had a correct M20 trans. I really lucked out on finding a correct dated long block for it. It was a replacement block that did not have a VIN stamp nor the CE stamping on the front pad. It did have the correct alphanumeric code stamped on it and the date matched my car’s build date. Guy had it on EBay and I convinced him to sell it outright to me. Also found the metallic brake setup for it, but missed out on a correct 4:88 rearend for it. After all the fun of collecting parts a fellow ‘66 enthusiast made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. He has since had it restored and added to his ‘66 collection.
  7. Has anyone here driven one of these beasts or a similar car? Also, does anyone know the dimensions? They biggest car I can think of is a 1959 Cadillac, but this looks much bigger.
  8. Found this on FB. Hood looks about 8’ long. What was under the hood?
  9. With that chassis and drivetrain it’s good there is only one like it.
  10. 1966 Biscayne L72, M20 four speed, 4:88 rear, metallic brakes, transistorized ignition, with build sheet. No engine or trans. Incorrect reared. No metallic brakes. No shifter. None of the TI parts. Interior was there but crap. Body was rusty. Frame was good. Wrong rims. Had the original 7000 rpm tach in the dash. Bought it sight unseen from a junkyard in Maryland for $1000. Tach was worth that. Part two of this story a little later on.
  11. Regained control of my senses after looking at it in the daylight and with a good flashlight. Car is in rust colored primer, so maybe that’s why you all went nuts when I posted. You thought it was all rust. Truth is there’s not much area that doesn’t have some surface rust, but it looks like the majority of the car has enough bad surface rust that it couldn’t be sanded smooth. The whole body would have to be patched in places or at the very least, skimmed with putty. Even the gutters at the roofline have bad surface rust. Don’t know if it runs. Don’t care since I passed on it. The location and logistics don’t make sense for me to buy it either. I’d have to ship it and shipping would cost more than what it’s worth. If it was local for me, ran and drove, and I could get it for $500-1000, I’d buy it, have a little fun with it and flip it. I think a buyer could make out on it even if you had to part it out. It looks very complete and the interior from the front seat back contains boxes of NOS parts for it. For any of you who replied with non-wisea— comments, thanks and I would gladly share location and contact info. For the wisea—es, you’ll have to find someone else to share your vast knowledge with, and your comments.
  12. Because it’s a truck, wouldn’t the headlights and grill shel be painted and not chrome?
  13. I’ll be looking at it today in the daylight. Then I’ll see just how bad it is. I’m thinking of buying to flip. From looking at FB crap, it should $29,000, the usual price for FB classics.
  14. I just talked with the owner and he says it’s time to sell. Lots of surface rust, don’t see any cancer. New gas tank and lines, and brakes and lines. It’s a 6 cylinder that’s built for drag racing. He says you shouldn’t really drive it on the highway; says the trans is geared wrong for highway. Chrome would need refinishing. Haven’t seen interior condition. Will see that when we meet tomorrow and I look over the car more closely. Anyone want to give an estimate of value/what I should offer?
