  1. Does the computer software delete stuff? Or are there people doing that?
  2. can not read it. You tell me.
  3. In a way, is the aftermarket, restoration, custom, street rod, hot rod, rat rod, resto rod, pro street, pro touring, car shops and classic car dealers. The same thing? The last group of independent car makers and dealers out there? When you look at our hobby/industry it is very large. Any one know how many classic car dealers there are? How many custom car shops there are?
  4. They want more for that title, then I have paid for some Hudson's. And they came with a title.
  5. I know the cost would be off the chart, Just wondering if we have made it impossible due to our rules. Just because you throw money at something, does not mean it will go anywhere.
  6. I have been reading this topic, and it is very clear that a lot of you guys have a ton of knowledge about the manufacturing side of the cars. So it makes me wonder, what if some one, or a company wanted to start building cars. Aside from start up costs, what problems would they run into just trying to operate in the market as far as rules and regulations go. Not counting being stabbed in the back at every turn. Would it be possible in this country any more to start from scratch building cars?
  7. I do not look at any club as being above any one else. (or snobs) You are ether a stand up person, or you are not. There is nothing wrong with having a club that is make, model only. But do not be surprised if over time your member numbers decline. And little power struggles rise up for who is the most important and why. I have stayed out of clubs for the most part. When I was 17, I was threatened to be kicked off the national registry for a rare make and model of car. Because I was going to modify it. I did anyway, O how I have fallen from grace. I had a bunch of Jaguar people harp on me for what I am doing to the jag you see in my display picture. Some Jag guys liked it, and ran stories on the build in the jaguar magazine. Clubs can be a lot of fun, and they can also get bad apples at the top, and use a club for personal benefit. Who ever receives ads for cars or parts for sale, is in a pretty unique spot. That is what is nice about this forum, you can post a ad, and there it is for every one.
  8. One of the reasons that Hudson dropped the Terraplane line, is that sales of the Terraplane past Hudson sales numbers. So you got all of the Hudson styling and engineering in a lower priced car. A junior Packard is the same thing. If people chose to turn away from another car on a tour, another car renting a hotel, another car raising money for what ever, another car pulling in more people to the tour, another car drawing attention to the Packard name. Then it is their loss.
  9. Packard's are great cars, you could not go wrong buying a early Packard on any platform. Any Hudson's for sale in Hershey?
  10. I know 120's, (115) but it is from the evil street rod side of the world. Where we builders are forced to remove rotten wood, and replace it with steel.
  11. Thanks for the pictures. Are the pictures a good example of what was there? It looks to be a little light on early cars?
  12. You will not hurt the value of a 39 Dodge coupe buy painting it a more desirable color. If you find a stock color you like, great. If not, look at other period colors, from other makes of cars from the same era. If still not happy, look to modern colors. It is your car, put your stamp of individuality on it, and hit the road.
  13. I think when we look at the federal reserve. One can come to the conclusion that what was stated above is possible.
  14. Does any one post some pictures of the swap meet? I would have loved to go this year, but it did not work out. With all of the drone use set up with cameras, a well shot promo video. Showing a fly over of the swap meet/show field. (with some cool back ground music) And that would draw in more car guys/gals. And that would be a big win the the businesses in the area.
  15. lump, I was just throwing out a comment, playing off of the chop shop comment you made. When you think chop shop, a dim lit building with a bunch of stripped down cars comes to mind. Something that would be easy to spot. If you had a fraudulent town/city, I am sure fraudulent shops would be in high numbers. That is what was the comment was about. I do thank you for any work you do, to make the trade/hobby/industry a better place.
  16. I am glad to hear lump, that you are involved in making the car world a better place. I think we all try to make it a better place. (if you really care about the cars) But as I read your post, I have to wonder, if sh*# rolls down hill. And money flows up hill, how could all those fraudulent operations stay a float?
  17. Is it cast in wax, or carved in wax. To be used in a casting.
  18. Whether it is right or wrong, good or bad. It puts you (the seller) in the chain of events. It is not that the seller is up to no good, but if a few different buyers use them for ill purposes. The seller can get wrapped up in the chain of events.
  19. My father is going through some lung problems right now. He was in the Navy and worked in construction all of his life. Asbestos was used in far more places then just in cars. I do not think a person could ever pin down where a person came in contact with a product that caused lung problems, when looking back over the course of ones life. Sorry for your loss Mandy
  20. Those are the tires that I am wanting to put on the new Hudson shop truck. I hope they are a good tire, going to drive the truck a lot.
  21. Stainless steel clevis pins come in all sizes. Cut to length and grind down or round over the button top, and polish.
  22. Looks like it could remove excess body hair as well. And get a tan line at the same time.
  23. I will call out there and see if he has the parts that we are hunting for. Idaho is packed full of old trucks. (farm state) Most of the old trucks in salvage yards are picked over or gone. Put a ad on craigs list in the Boise Idaho area. There are a ton of old trucks around here. Some one will have your parts you need. Or just look on craigs list in the state of Idaho under auto parts. You can still drive around here and see old trucks sitting behind buildings and on farms. 1930's trucks are getting hard to find. But trucks out of the 50's are still in good numbers. You can high jack a post any time, it is fun to see where they end up going.
  24. I have gone twice, great show/swap meet/auctions. A must do, if you orbit around planet car.
  25. I have a customers 1950 1/2 ton Pick up in the shop. And he is looking for the rear spare tire bracket and hanger. Are any of these parts reproduced?
