  1. I am looking to purchase some leather hides for the interior in my Hudson pickup. Looking for a nice quality distressed leather, and advice on where to go would be helpful.

  3. Out side of a glass of ice water, AJFord54 covered it.
  4. Going by the Maine license plate. I am guessing that is where you are. Prices will vary around the country. Here in Idaho that truck as pictured. Guessing you have the bed, fenders, tail gate and that it does not run, and is not rusted out. It would go for around 1,800-2,800. The set back on price would be the year. 1932-34,1935-36,1940 are very popular around here. And you could double the project price if was in those years. Cool truck, and as stated above, not a rat rod. As far as listing it, you just did.
  5. That is the first use of a home built "gopro style" rebar cam ever used.
  6. I do not know of any one who would restore/build a car. And put the grill, fenders and running boards on. Then put the body on.(and they wrestle it on) Interesting to see it done that way. Would make sense from a production stand point. When they install the engine, it looks like they hang it from the exhaust manifold. Like said above, they were rough with the parts. But at that point they were building history, now you are restoring/preserving history.
  7. If the handle spins on the shaft, can a person drill through the side of the handle and center shaft. And slide in a pin or nail through the handle and shaft? I have no 30 Cad handle to look at to see if that is a option. Might also be able to take a die grinder with a cut off wheel. cut off the handle at the base plate. This might allow you to slide out the center shaft, and then use a tool to reach in and turn the latch. Again, I do not have a handle to look at.
  8. You can have the best of both worlds some times. Here is a clip of how you can up grade to power windows, and not change a thing. There is common ground between restorations and customs. (Throwing in some humor to bust up the disk/drum battle)
  9. I wonder what one of those guys would say to some one walking through looking for a pokemon on their phone?
  10. It is funny that new machines have all of these safety guards on them. If you look at the guys running the presses. Both guys have to be pushing both buttons, in order for the press to work. You can not get your hand smashed when it is on the button. Safety with out the BS.
  11. The tail lights are from a 37 Hudson. The Terraplane tail lights had a flat lens. And the Utility coupes had one tail light that held the license plate as well, if I remember correctly?
  12. The car is chopped two inches. My dad bought it in 1990, we pulled it off a old farm and then he started to build it. My dads first chop and second paint job. He did most of the car himself. Very nice build, car drives out nice. Has a Buick 455 in it, lots of power, smooth shifting with a nice exhaust tone.(not loud) It is on ebay for sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Hudson-Terraplane-Utility-Coupe-Utility-Coupe-/182282970582?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a70e965d6:g:miYAAOSwLF1X2y1D&item=182282970582
  13. When you watch it, you see guys throwing around stamped roofs. And there is not a over weight guy in the bunch. No need to go to a gym after work.
  14. You are right JACK M. The up grades do make a difference. Any time you replace a old design with a new one you get the modern benefits. But some things do not change or go a way, with out major changes. Weight distribution and aerodynamics are the big ones. Top heavy bodies out of the thirties, square bodies out of the twenties all have a tough time in the weight distribution and aerodynamics. I love hearing people say if I put a Corvette engine and suspension in my 40 Ford coupe. It will drive like a Corvette. No it will not, put it on a track with a Corvette. And you will find that it drives like a 40 Ford coupe with a Corvette engine and suspension. The Corvette will drive like a Corvette.
  15. what, What, WHAT? Now I know why my grandfather could not hear anything. And why he all ways said watch your fingers. Love the lack of safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and one step to the right or left, and you will loose that arm. Back when if you did not pay attention you got hurt at work. Safety has come a long way, and that is good. All of that great tooling was made here as well. What have we done to ourselves in this country? To loose all of this great stuff.
  16. We can get drums turned here as well. Try and find someone to re-ark the shoes. I do not know anyone around here that does that. One of the biggest problems with drums that I have found is poor contact with the shoe and drum. I have seen old cars with new drum brakes, and you would be lucky if 50% of the shoe contacted the drum. And then what does contact gets glazed over so fast, because the surface contact is so little.
  17. You might have seen this, but cool to watch again.
  18. No bottle jacks then, but you could get a bottle of jack.
  19. I am just posting this so you can see a model of a Terraplane a lot of people have not seen. I know it is a street rod. (please do not shoot) This is a 1937 Hudson Terraplane model 70 Utility Coupe. They came from the factory with a pull out truck bed in the trunk. The only difference from the outside of the model 70 is the commercial series hood ornament, painted cowl vent trim, painted windshield division bar and the gas cap comes out of the fender instead of the body. That is done so the gas filler pipe can run under the truck bed. Taking pictures to sell the car for my father. Just though you might like to see this model of a Terraplane.
  20. If rebuilt correct, drum brakes work fine. If set up correct, disk brakes work great. Because you put modern brakes, suspensions and engines in a old car. Does not make them drive like a new car. They drive like a old car with new brakes, suspensions and engines. A lot of the original characteristics the car had, in regards to design and driving feel, never leave no matter what you change.
  21. If you live in a house that is over grown and the windows are boarded up. It sounds like he has written off the outside world. Nothing wrong with asking about the car, a nice letter would be the way to go. But in all honesty, it sounds like some one that needs a friend. All of these old cars mean something to us. That one might be all he has left for the good memories.

  23. "Trophy Creep" I love it! Sounds like a guy out of the 80's with a mullet and toilet paper stuck to his shoe, driven a Subaru Bratt with his buddies in the plastic jump seats in the bed. Or a creepy guy staring at some other guys younger wife. To funny, That one made me laugh.
