  1. You bet Roger! Everytime I see you have made another post, I open this thread with great anticipation! I am never dissapointed.
  2. Wow! The condition of the interior is unbelievable! Nice score!
  3. Rear drums? I wouldn't have guessed that since they have roller bearings in the hub.
  4. I had this posted in the "What is it?" section, but didn't get much in the way of answers. I found these drums in the shed at my Mother's house while clearing out the estate. Dad at one time restored a '40 Lincoln Continental. Do these look like front hubs/drums for a Lincoln? In looking at them, I am not seeing any part numbers on them. If they are from a Lincoln, do they fit other Fords? Or are they Lincoln / year specific? I imagine they may be larger than standard Ford drums. I am planning on listing them for sale at some point. They look to be in very good condition. Nothing a quick clean up on a brake lathe won't cure. Thanks!
  5. I hang my grease gun on pegboard above my bench, and have an old margarine container mounted on the pegboard just below the gun to catch those drips.
  6. I'm 6'1", and I remember my Father's '40 LC Cabriolet was a little on the cramped side for me when I drove it. I suppose the seat track could be moved back some. But that would require drilling holes.
  7. I distinctly remember back in the late 60's as a kid, my Dad referring to cars like the GTO and others as Muscle Cars.
  8. Soda seemed to taste the best if it came out of one of those! I worked at a full service Standard Oil station for a year. Would have been '76 to '77 because I remember in the beginning riding my bike there before I got my driver's license at age 16. For every quart of oil we sold at the pumps we got a quarter commission on it. After I worked there, I worked at another station for a very short period of time. The owner was a shady crook. A guy dropped off his Plymouth Fury for an oil change and to have the cooling system flushed. I did the oil change, but then my boss (the owner) wouldn't let me do the cooling system flush. But he still charged for it on the invoice. The guy came in at the end of the day to pick up his car and I told him what went on. I of course was fired on the spot for not lying to the customer. I had seen so much of that sort of thing go on the few weeks I was there.
  9. Does it tend to stall as you are coming to a stop? Or when you put it in gear? I had a stalling problem with a '92 Park Ave I owned. I tried everything in the book. (Literally, I was doing all the the things service manual told me it could be.) ECM, MAF, IAC valve, I forget what else. Never threw codes. Each time I thought "This has to be it!" In the end turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. The one item the service manual didn't suggest could be the problem.
  10. I remember the promotional give aways at stations as a kid. Gulf stations had orange magnetic horse shoes or antenne balls. A Mobil station we went to aside from glassware and knives gave out Hot Wheels cars. Dad knew he had better not get gas without me being with! I remember digging through the piles of Hot Wheels to find the ones I wanted that week. Since we had 2 cars in the family I sometimes got more than one a week. Those were the days.
  11. After years of reading on other boards not so flattering opinions of OPG, I look through the their catalog with conflicted feelings. On one hand I look at the catalog and think about how it appears to be a first rate operation. Nice catalog, been in business since 1982. How could they possibly become what they appear to be and still be in business if all the stories of back orders, and slow shipping are to be believed? On the other I want to order to support them in their providing parts for our Rivieras. I just don't know. Of course, I heard bad things about CARS Buick parts. But have had nothing but the best experiences with them.
  12. Don't know why I over looked the '96 I use as a daily driver. 207,000 miles.
  13. With the mention of the Rivieras and 60's luxury cars in general, one that I think has also been sadly over looked is the early Olds Toronados. '66 through '70 models can still be had for a fair price. The first mass produced US built front drive car since the Cord & won many awards it's first year in production. Without the Toronado, (and FWD Eldo) leading the way, FWD may not have been refined until much later on.
  14. Naw. It's not for sale. Gonna fix it up someday.
  15. In the 34 years I have had a driver's license, I have never owned a car that I would consider troublesome. (All American brands) Even the '80 Chevette my first Wife drove was a reliable car, and I beat the living hell out of it every chance I got. So, I based my votes on appearances.
  16. On an '83, isn't there a driveline 1/2 shaft running under the pan? Been a while since I saw the underside of that Gen E body. But I bet that's where some of the added time comes from.
  17. Least liked. (Hate is such a strong word) The mid 70's AMC Matador. Favorite: 1940 (and '41) Lincoln Continental. This was my Father's.
  18. Dad let me use those vulcanizing kits as a kid to fix my bike inner tubes. Another printer here, and I love the smell of press wash in the morning!
  19. Because so many buy them just to look cool. They don't really have any need for that type of truck. A 1/2 ton may be more than adequate for them, but it's not "Manly" enough. Like the truck owners that tip toe over the slightest bump in the road.
  20. That was a great story Jason! Man, don't think I have ever seen a '66 or '67 as rusty as that '67 GS!
  21. I suspect he paid just enough. Great score! Looks like it will clean up nice.
  22. It's gotten so I automatically check the tire pressures the following morning after the tires are mounted. In the past 10 years, I can't recall a time they weren't inflated to 45# Bone heads. Also had a Firestone shop tighten the lug nuts on a '66 Riviera so railroad tight I couldn't get them off when I wanted to do a brake job. Drove the car back to the shop mad as hell and made them loosen and then retourque them by hand.
