    motor swap

Mounts will be uh our biggest challenge. The ecm can be programmed to control the series two not the three unless thou swap out the throttle body. I am hoping to do my swap in the next two weeks or so. If not it will have to wait until I return from Afghanistan. I will be doing a complete write up on it but I am also going to a f40 six speed manual transmission. If you stick with the stock tranny have fun I am on my fourth and that include one of the hd trannys that came attached to the series one.
  2. I would guess it is a factory thing to ensure that the solenoid engages. My grandfathers 91 Cadillac did the same
  3. 95 regal and probably a few years prior, grand prix (not sure of the years and have only seen one), some of the cadillacs around 95 and older, early 90s full sized blazers and surburbans, and there is a vette out there with a one. Sorry for being vauge it has been a while sense I was fooling around with them. Also as mentioned before, if you want the EQ the radio you get must have the EQ. If not you will only have bass and treble tone controls. (I honestly think the non eq versions sound better)
  4. Also 88-94 GM and Chevy pickups. My personal fav due to the location and the fact most hot bypassed for an after marker radio meaning less use.
  5. 1996 Cadillac eldarodo rear brakes bolt on to include the cables. You do have to use two from the same side. Not sure on what side but u can search it on the forum and u get a single pump parking brake.
  6. Take the tape out of you deck. Also turn off what ever else if anything you have running through the aux in or antenna . These radios have very bad bleed through. As for.not getting any stattion can you manually turn.e a known station?
  7. There are other alternators that will fit but most would be a down grade seeing how the regatta came with a 120 amp alternator. Even my 140 amp is not a big improvement unless you are adding a 1000 watts of stereo.
  8. Depending on how they remove the tranny it could be alignment but if it is they should have realm ed it at the shop. I would look at the ball joints and tie rod ends to see if they forgot to tighten them.
  9. I pretty sure I do not need them, let me check the car and I will let you know.
  10. Just got my fiero spacers. With the polyurethane bushings they are about 1/8 taller than my stock in all six positions most likey the originals are worn out causing the difference. I will let every one know how it mounts when i do the install..
  11. As long as you stick with the V6 you will be able to keep the electronics. If you go with the V8 I would like all your electronics/ wireharnesses as I have a radio mod and touch screen mod I want to work on, but need a complete set up to do the testing out of the car.
  12. Dave, Sorry if I was not clear in my earlier post, the black bushings in the photos are Reatta and the red ones are the fiero. The biggest dif is the with as the highth is the same. They fit the engine cradle perfectly but a person as in myself will have to get the fiero spacers and washers.
  13. I am waiting on an old gm engineer to get me as built drawings for each body type (E, K, H, ect), but from experience and looking at many GM engine cradles the double "D" they use is pretty much identical. The Reatta rear bushings were bolted in, but I have no issue using bushings with out bolts. Also many other manufactures do not bolt or "key/double D" their bushings, and they seem to work. As for the stiffness of them I am not sure but I would think that they would be a little stiffer as they only used four on these cars. Also the components are almost identical to the reatta.
  14. I am going to use the Fiero bushings, washers, and spacers for my car. I will let you know how it turns out. Also thought I would throw this knowlege out there for you. I am 95% sure thes will work for us, but I am not spending the $50 to test it as I am short on cash for my project. If some one wolud like me to check when I put my engine in they can buy and send them to me and I will let you know if they will fit and how close they are to the Reatta bushings in size ect. BTW Rockauto also has them (94 buick regal) we would need 4 rear and 2 front but all the parts are there new and AVAILABLE. FRONT Dorman (OE Solutions) 924-004 Front Subframe Bushing Kit Regal Impala Lumina | eBay REAR Dorman (OE Solutions) 924-005 Rear Subframe Bushing Kit Regal Lumina Monte Carlo | eBay Enjoy
  15. 88 should be pretty much the same as the 89. The pin outs are almost certainly idenical. The 89 FSM can be fount at Reatta.net Just register for the user name and password
  16. Emailed him a couple daqys ago and have not heard back, most likely relaxing in the bahamas. jk
  17. If you want to make your job easier I would try to find an impact gun.
  18. sounds like the supercharger (assuming you are still charged) is possibly wearing. I had one that would do the same thing only under load and full throtle. No odd sounds or any othersymptoms. When I rebuilt the supercharger all symptoms went away.
  19. This was not my idea, but I also did it and it works great. http://forums.aaca.org/f116/prism-cupholder-modified-into-reatta-armrest-255363.html
  20. The issue you will most likely run into is clearance fo r the heads. If you want to go that far I would go with a S2 SC engine as it will fit and the aftermarket and go fast parts are easy to find. Pluss you can keep all the gauges working and can use the original ECM/BCM, with a re tune.
  21. Yes you can do it. it is not too hard. you have to cross ref for wiring, but most controls can be used, just be sure to get a programable one. I have not done it yet but if a gut wanted to he could get the kenwood KOS-v's to run off the TCC and not have to use a remote or Kenwood touch screen. It would be a nice touch and not very intrusive to the tcc.
  22. Would any body be interested if I can get polyurethane replacements made? The ride would be a little rougher but they would last longer.
