  1. I dis agree, This is the one forum on the net with a vast amount of info on this system. I would not move this posting due to that fact alone, but the vehicle modle should be a little more prevalent in the post. I must have missed it earlier. guess that is what you get when one is doing far too many things at once.
  2. One other thing the red brake light is already wired for low brake fluid warning.
  3. The conversion is very simple. I would suggest finding a different doner as I doubt that the 88 will be a direct bolt on afair. Find a Eldarado, Riviera, Tornado, 91 Reatta or Siville. This will bolt directly on to include the pedal. I have done it already and it is very straight forward if you use the above models. The firewall and all other mesurements are the same. I know the 88 used the teeves but they are different platform so the firewall may have different mesurements. Also if you use the original Reatta pedal you will need to weld a piece of metal to extend the brake/cruise switch interaction plate.
  4. Sound like a bad tranny pump or low fluid. A replacement is most likely the end result, and 190k is alot on one of these trannys.
  5. I believe it was a dealer option on the Reatti and a factory in the Rivieras. I had one and wanted to keep it, but no one would activate it. So I thought it would detract from the car, but if you can find some one to activate it, it would be sweet.

    Newbie here

91 is the easiest to maintain. But 88-89 have a factory touch screen. The 90 really does not put forth any advantages ove the others. Just my opinion. Other thing you will want to look for is no cracked glass and read and understand the brake test for the 88-90s.
  7. I woul measure the bolts and go buy a 10.9 rated equivalent. This is assuming youi are not going to be doing show. If you are showing youir car I would start looking through yards for a matching head bolt then compare lengths. I am sure GM still makes/uses the same bolt in something. Probably received a part number change as it got lost in the sauce or change suppliers.
  8. 2SEATER, You are runnign your turbo off one side. correct? How is it holding up?
  9. If you want to switch to the newer, more available, sensor, you must use all four sensors. Unless someone can do a tooth count on them. This is BC if the frount and reat have a diffrent cout your ABS will assume a wheel is sliding and activate that section of the brakes. Kind of like when people report having a pulsing sensation when a sensor is dirty or going bad.
  10. They do list the parts for reatti. Reason being, it is an ebody car and all the parts bolt up directly. If yo want to swap to a 91 system you do have to get the pedal from a 91 or have the brake light/cruise sensor plate extended. On to the write up. I have been meaning to do one and will. If I can get the with to find my folder and send it I will try to do it here during down time. (I hade found the folder with all my notes but not sure where I stored it during the move) It is reall not that hard of a process just time consuming and a bit of repinning on the brake control unit. Or if you wanted you could splice but that is not my perferred methode.
  11. The spare will not fit, and I am not sure about the 90/91 spare. If it is not 16" I dought it will fit. That is what roadside assistance is for.
  12. I tapped into the wirirng in the trunk. The ABS brain is only looking for a pulse and it is not tied into any other system. So I used all the original 89 sensors. Just a little wiring research and time.
  13. That does not look even close to ware from a tilt mechanism. It would be more freyed and ware on the ends. That really looks to me like a shear cut. Then again the picture is not too clear.
  14. Bump! just BC I think it is the best solution.
  15. Not to jack the thread, but here are some pics of my swap prior to paint. Also just to throw it out there here is My thread for the rear upgrade.http://forums.aaca.org/f116/bolt-brake-rattle-solution-upgrade-304512.html
  16. yes that is the port. I would just swap to the full system from a donor car. No mater what you do you will have to shorten the extra rear line as even the eldorado was shorter by a few inches. Also you could always use the full ABS out of a 91. I did and it worked out great. (just a bit of wiring). Also the master cylinder will mount up with no issue. I tried several GM masters to find wich one I liked better with my brake system. I ended up going with a 2000 Camaro, but I am running 2000 Camaro brakes on the front and 96 STS brakes on the rear.
  17. If that includes shipping I may be interested, if they are not sold. How wide are the wheels? Also I may work with you on the price as they would be going to HI zip 96789.
  18. They are stocked at every parts chain I have been in.
  19. Padgett, I did not get one from you. I would like to have one, it would make a great starting point. I cannot start on the programming part while I am here, but I will be reading up on it in my spare time here. I also have a friend here that loves to write programing code for diffrent things. So I will be picking his brain and try to convince him to give me a hand on this. Down side is I will have to use the 89 ECM for the swap just to get it completed and on the road. I will not be dropping the programming thing as there are more than a handful of things I want to modify to my liking. On that note, if any one has a dash harness that they would like to donate to the cause, it would help. I have evey other component to set up a bench test system. Just never got around to pulling a harness and the rest of my "play" money will most likely be tied up in my swap, at least until it is 100%
  20. The sensors for the 91 are exactly the same. and will work with the 89 as plug and play. With the exception of the injectors, TPS, and the boost sensor they ar the same on the SCed engine all the way to the 95 year. As far as repinning, I have been doing that for years. I am even runnng the 91 ABS in my 89 as we type. I have got in contact with a couple GM engineers and depending on how far they are willing to go I may keep chasing this. If not there are several things I want to do in the electronics of this car. So I will be schooling myself to be able to mod the BCM and reconstruct the radio modual, to my specs. It will definately take alot of time effort but I am not getting rid of the car, ever, so why not. Plus it will pay off in my retirement plans as well.
  21. Thank you for the response. The wiring is a non-issue. I would like to get a couple functions from the 91 SCed ECM in my 89, with out losing any functions of the TCC. I have been writing several people on this and keep getting the same answers. 1) It will not work 2) no one has done it If the data stream can be modified in the memcal then the possibilities that would be opened to gearheads would be amazing.
  22. Sorry I did not know those are adjustable.
  23. You are not the first to have issues with them. I will not make any purchases from them after the last time. It took 2.5 months to get my last small order from them.
  24. 88/89 can be repinned to work in each year. Also like I said it is getting modified for the Series three and F40 swap. And at $280 you are at the far high end of the quotes I received. Most are 150 -200. Also I am sure they are all tracking the wrong year vehicles in their yards, because that is a great way to keep a large customer base.
