  1. Are you talking about a Reatta swap and the mpg from the car?
  2. No I would just use the and reprogram the 91's ECM. The 92-95 park ave uses the same ECM but it may have a different pin out. One would have to check the wireing, pluss the Eprom is most likely different.
  3. I cannot say for sure, but if ca works the same way as Washington and most other states then the smog is based on vehicle weight and type. So it should be fine. The smog effects can be tuned down a bit during the tuning process. Keep in mind the rattan should fall in the same class as the Cadillac Eldorado, which had the 4.9 v8. I would imagine you would be fine.
  4. Get a three pound short sledge hammer and a good solid strut compressor (might e was $40 10 years ago from craftsman do not use a cheap) and a Saturday with beer. I suggest doing the tie rods and sway bar links while you are there.
  5. Correct. It is the easiest and most straight forward swap enabling the use of the hd tranny from the downer car. Only minor and well documented tuning for the ecm.
  6. First one is his, second one is mine. http://forums.aaca.org/f116/supercharging-time-its-real-211872.html http://forums.aaca.org/f116/series-one-swap-240868.html
  7. Is it diesel? Just kidding. We just gave four of them to DABS (the Afghanistan electric company)
  8. I have never gave up on a job. Just go buy the right tool, which is always less than the $100+ per hour most shops are charging. If you do not have the the stuby gear wrench racheting sets are a life saver. Also I do not trush any one elses work. the few times I have let the wife tack her car in (total of 6 times when I was deployed) only once has the job came back with no issues on workmanship, safety concerns, or having to educate a service department tech. Pretty sad when you consider it has been dealers every time, except the one trip to Jiffylube. The one time I had Gm work on my blazer (traveling with limitted tools) They some mannaged to get a single nut inside the oil pan. Still have not figured that one out.
  9. If you do a serch with my user name and speed sensor you will firn the two posts from 07. What I stated is true, so please do not question it, or if you want to take the thirty minutes and pull yours to verify, but please do not state that I am throwing false information as I seem to be the only one here that ever had either issue. As you can see in the posts when I was asking for help.
  10. Huge undertaking F14 did it but time and money you are better off swapping the whoe engine. Do a search you will find my write up and his.
  11. I am not sure of its full function in the system but I had some how messed up the drive gear, when doing my first SC swap and it left the car not moving out of firs and with no speedo. I gues it could have been 1st and second. It would not be a hard check to sse if the gear is broken loose or chewed up.
  12. OK the VSS kept it from shifting out of 1st and I had no speedometer. Back to the specifics of your issue. When you get in to second and are driving does it shift and then nuetral, or can you feel anything trying to make the car go. Also were there any other symptoms prior. harder shifts softer shifts. did it happen slowly or did it just give up all at once?
  13. If you ever want to get rid of here I know of a nice home for her.
  14. Good point. I had a bad speed sensor that caused something simular I do not recall the exact symptoms. If you do a search u can probably find it. I will look in the morning too.
  15. That would be a waist of a perfectly good Reatta. Even the thought should be punishable by a good keg stand. Look on craigslist find a backyard mechanic and get a used tranny from a pull it yard or full out wrecking yard. It is not that bad of a job and all the tools and tranny can be had for under a grand. You cold even talk to your local high school auto shop and they would probably do it for free minus the cost of the tranny. If not one of the students could do it on the weekend and would only cost a hundred or so. Point being people are too willing to give up on their cars for little to no real reason. I guess that is to be expected from a society that barely can change a tire. Hell if I was closer I would volunteer my 13 year old daughter. She would love the chance. She will get it when I get back and start my swap.
  16. How is the quality of the carpet in compare to the factory carpet? and what brand?
  17. I will start getting them out in mid April once I get back to the states.
  18. you can jump pins a and b with a paper clip. Then turn the key to run. The SES light will flash:1 time then twice, and repeat three times. The the following flashes will come in sets of three. so 34 will be three flashes followed by four flashes and repeet three time for each code. Once the ECM has rann through all stored codes it will flash 12 three more times. Write down all codes disconnect the battery then drive until the light sets once more. This will ensure you are getting only current codes and not chasing historic or fixed codes.
  19. For your brakes go with the whole system from a 90 cadillac, Everything bolts up. Then add 98-2000 camarro fronts that are dual piston all alluminium 12" (can use vette 13" insted) the 96 sevielle 11" disks for the rear (requires two of one side can remember wich but i did a write up on it a while ago) then yo can grab the e-brake cables and turn you multi pump pedal into a single pump. Also it will lend it self nicely to snagging the hand brake from the 98-2000 camaro that can be hooked into the hydraulic line to provide a working rear "fun" brake.
  20. If you are serious about the rear wheel drive. find a 2009 vette chasi and bolt the top to it. It will save you all this trouble. no other gauge cluster will work, they are not even interchangable from 88-9 to 90-1. The best bet for your brakes is to start with a system from the other e body cars (riv, edarodo, ect) and upgrade from there.
  21. Go to reatta.net and run a diagnostic throught the CRT. this will let you know what codes you have then we will be able to go from there. Also you should do a full tune up if this car is new to you.
