  1. As many of you know I am in the middle of my engine swap and ran in to a hick up. The rectangle connector from the engine harness to the interior wiring is missing a h7 (purple wire) on the 216 connector. I am told the harness I have was from a 90 SS and have checked 90/91/89 FSM and all should have this wire. I do not have a 88 manual to check. My question/curiosity is would any of you lucky SS owners check to see if the H7 wire is missing from your harness. also any one that is willing on a 88/90/91 look to see if they have it also. I will fix it and move on but I really am curious if the SS is that special.
  2. A good idea if you are not running an amp. An oval speaker distorts under high volume much earlier than a round. This is not an issue if you are not going to increase power to the speaker. Hence why they are never found in high end home audio systems.
  3. A little closer. This is taking longer than it normally would as I am doing a few other things in conjunction with the swap. If you look close you can see the clutch master cylinder. Also thinking of doing a true cold air intake unless some one can make a good argument for keeping the charcoal canister.
  4. One other thing. Get the engine to operating temp and let it sit to see if it can get it to die. If it is either of these items it is brought on by heat and time.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Your problem is most likely a bad crank position sensor or icm (ignition control module). You can upgrade the ICM and coils to the newer version where the coils are separate. Also known as the Pagget upgrade. I personally would order a new CPS and then grab the ICM and coils from a yard. As far as a code for the CPS signal you will not get one, I am 99% sure it does not exist on the OBD1. I have had two of these go bad on me and have never had a code same goes for the ICM.
  6. Do not this is the the final boot but it is still sweet to see a manual shifter in my Reatta.
  7. Thought I I would post a couple pictures. why do they have to be black? I think I have enough sound deadening.
  8. If you do not rod it forever. The rest of the motor will give out first. On the other hand if it has been driven hard I would say it is due. Either way the tensioner should probably be changed.
  9. I checked the FSM but did not see anything on removing the entire dash. Has any one removed a dash? If so are there any hidden or painful bolts I need to know about? Thank You, Daniel PS Any one talked to F14 AKA Phillip lately?
  10. Thank you I found the connectors they are on the ecm/engine harness. Figured they would be on the other harness.
  11. I have not found the connection to the canister and you could say everthing is out of the way as it is. I only have the wiring harness and canister left I that area.
  12. On a 89 is the purge system have any electrical connections. I see a connection but no wires for it? Kind of confused.
  13. ratcheting stubby gearwrench and a lot of scratches on your hands.
  14. True but I will not have to replace tranny after tranny now. I am on my forth and I do not drive the car to its full engine potential.
  15. I am stuck on the clutch pedal and master cylinder. Right now I am waiting on this ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/290997494956?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 )but I have no way to k ow if it will work. Any one have other ideas?
  16. Does not sound like gm production falsify to use two separate parts to accomplish the same feet. Guess it has happened once or twice.
  17. Looks to me to be a breather/vent hose for the tranny. If it is not resolved by the time I pull my engine I will look into it a little deeper.
  18. Correct answer yes, but I would not worry about it too much. Just a suggestion. Fire stone offers a lifetime alignment for under 150. I would not use them for anything else but I have used mine over 20 times.
  19. Replace your o2. You ran seafoam in the car everytime I use it my o2 goes bad. That is the two times I have used it. Also there is no reason to use high octane fuel in these cars. It drops fuel milage and really has no benifit unless you are running around at 5k rpm all day.
  20. Pretty much none. They barely rebadged the car and added leather.
  21. Just to give a heads up and maybe save you a headache. Catera was built on an Opel platform. This means most of the car is a gm oddball in the states. If you go with the seats you will most likely be doing quite a bit of modification to the mounts and I seriously doubt the connection will be the same.
  22. Y not go with a 86-91 system that is a direct bolt on?
