  1. The BD44 value was 6. I even uncovered it and it was still a 6. What directions do you Reatta guys go for replacement parts? Also the chime is ding ding-ing again. Maybe a loose connection? Where is the chime box located? Thanks Jayson
  2. Thanks everyone, I've got some reading and work to do. Be back later, probably with more ???
  3. Here are the speakers that were taken out of one of my 85 Riv's with concert sound. Thanks
  4. I'm wanting to buy a service manual for mine. How many books are there for this year? I know for the 85 Riv's it's one large manual and a small body shop manual. My dash lights do not dim nor does the buttons that light up at night come on at night, but during the dash light up they come on. Also I have an intermittent chime that has only worked once since I've got the car. Bad ground? I need to know where to start trouble shooting the dash lights not dimming and the chime not working. Thanks
  5. This is from an 85 with concert sound. I know BOSE is different. I'm just wondering what size the speakers were in the rear quarters. I'm doing some modernization with the Free Riv and am getting specs ready for the shop. I have no idea what size was in there when they were previously removed. I might have a set in my junk the attic but not sure.
  6. uh okay so we still aren't sure if the rear quarters are 4x10 or 4x6
  7. Tom, Ed & Al, I need a clarifiation on the size of speakers originally if any of you know. I have in my notes that the front door speakers are 4x6, rear seat 1/4 window concert speakers are 4x6 (I think this might actually be a 4x10) and the rear package tray speakers are 4x10. Anyone know for sure on the size of the speakers in the middle (Rear seat 1/4 window speakers)? Thank you.
  8. Sorry for the late notice but Matt Garrett sent me info about this upcoming car show. Should be a good one as it's in a great location! For more info see Matt's page http://www.mcsmk8.com/2012-CAR-SHOW/CAR-SHOW.pdf Also Matt's vehicles can be viewed at www.gm-classics.com I wonder what he might bring! He said maybe the 65 Riv!!
  9. Happy Birthday Riviera, we are waiting on you to come back! Tom we'll see you maybe at next years ROA meet.
  10. This car has been for sale for maybe 5 years or so. I bet the owner would have better luck selling it if he would take the running boards off, Cadillac wheat embalems off the trunk, hood ornament and the super large push strips on the bumper. I have seen it on other sites with more pictures.
  11. I think it's Barney Eaton. He should have a listing in the back of the Riview to rebuild power antennas. He has a Texas address. If you can't find him message me and I'll look him up for you.
  12. Uh you can't even find good hard parts for transmission rebuilds for these cars....
  13. Buy you one and paint it the color you like. That's why I won't join the BCA.
  14. Ed you know I don't know POO about convertibles themselves, I only speak of the overall car. I'm sure since most everyone likes convertibles they will be fine in later years.
  15. You have to remember these cars (1982) are just now at their 30 year mark! The later models are still in their 20's. I will also say that in my experience owning, researching and evaluating these cars; when things go wrong with these generations people are lazy and just unplug it or do without. Squeeky wheel gets the grease! No one is repairing anything other than what you can still buy for any large car of that same era from Autozone. If you like the car and body style go with it. Soon there will be reproduction parts for these cars. You just have to give it time. Don't forget they share A LOT of parts and cross over with 79-85 Eldorado and Toronado. Opinions are like ___ everyone has one and they all usually smell funny! BMJ sounds like you really want one, you've been talking about them for a year now on and off. Go get you one and join the rest of us! We also have a very nice 79-85 e-body discussion group on facebook that's very productive for these generations.
  16. OK Nathaniel can you drop me one in the mail? When the dash and ECC are doing their "show" the selection buttons and their labels light up but not at night with the headlights on or in the dark. That just might be it!
  17. I have a similar issue with my 89 Reatta except my dash lights do not come on at night or with the headlights. I'm running on dash lights bright for daytime use at night!
  18. Dave what's your thoughts on paying $120 for a used one that might fail?
  19. While getting some front end work done the dealership has told me now the car has an ABS code and I need a new front ABS sensor. Anyone know where I might find one of them? I hope they aren't made of unobtainium like the Riv XX parts! Thanks in advance.
  20. Sorry I've been busy and the car is getting some much needed suspension work done. It just started going back up and down when the switch is depressed....
  21. Jerry I was concerned about the color match too. I called California Car Cover and choose about 6 different variations of the carpet I had in my car. They sent me swatches of all 6 to check against the car. From there the color I picked was a perfect match! I don't have the pictures of mine right now but I can dig them up if you'd like to see how they turned out.
  22. I just bought my Reatta. 1989 with 127k. The headlights were coming up when turned on and then down when off. After someone screwed one of the adjustment knobs now they won't pop up when turned on and have to manually be popped up with pushing the Lamp retract button. What did we do or is there an adjustment to get them to come back up when they should? Thanks P.S. I'll be looking for an 89 service manual and body manual for this car. I'm about to go take pics and try and clean it up for now. Jayson
  23. I'm not sure but one of the things I liked about the video and other informational brochures on cars is the pictures of the frame with no body. That way I always have a good visual reference of what everything looks like and where it is when I get ready to look for it. I will add that the BEST thing I did so far to improve/restore ride is buy quality high end personal luxury tires.
  24. It's opened a new repair idea for me, replacing the body mounts. I bet that would get rid of a considerable amount of road noise.
