  1. Thanks for the info but they do not have a process to apply chrome to plastic emblems.
  2. Well it was the strut mounts. Thank ya'
  3. Darrell I've had many of these cars. There are two types of front end jobs on them. One where only worn parts are replaced and one where all suspension components and rubber involved is replaced in the general front end of the car. With the first I've done through the years I always thought the cars rode a little rougher than I had remembered. Recently one of mine had to go to into the dealership for a front suspension problem. This one had already had some of the visually worn components changed many years ago. On this last job I replaced the transmission mounts, one engine mount (need to do the other too), upper and lower ball joints, idler and pitman arm, intermediate rod shock, upper control arm bushings, sway bar link bushings. BOY LET ME TELL YOU WHAT A SMOOTH RIDE NOW! Very pleased! So your doing all the good to improve the car. I would highly suggest if you can do it or afford it to have all rubber replaced front and back of the car. I can imagine how smooth the ride might be with the rear control arm bushings replaced too!
  4. Thanks you two! I'm sure lot others on here have had re chroming done too!!!
  5. I was just given a quote from Paul's Chrome Plating for around $225/per emblem!! Anyone else get some cheaper quotes or know of a less expensive way to get these things re chromed? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi Darrell looks like it cleaned up good in that picture. Give me a call if you need anything or I can suggest some stuff you might check or replace to help with driveability problems.
  7. Yes I agree that's a bad fit. That's why I like to use the ABS so they will flex a little bit when mounting and fitting. But those aren't too good either.
  8. That car needs a LOT of stuff. It and another XX have been at that same lot since at least 2003 sitting in the HOT Texas sun! I checked them both out at that time. He can't come down on the price but just a few hundred dollars.
  9. Ok thank you all I will report back what we find.
  10. Anyone else had a front suspension noise like this that they were able to correct? Thanks
  11. I am sure it is in the front. My 85 Somerset had the same banging in it. I know some of the engine mounts have been replaced and we are going to replaced any and the transmission mounts. I'm thinking it's maybe lower a frame bushings. Exhaust hangers have already been replaced.
  12. My 89 /w 127k makes a strange bang bang noise when you go over rough road or over bumps, can even be felt in the car. It has had new front suspension componets replaced and struts but still makes this strange noise. Someone had mentioned something before on another thread but I can't find the response now. Thank you.
  13. Kevin bring them all in a truck :-) I love to see your cars.
  14. Yes start there and follow it or look it up in your wiring schematic. Clean your ground up good, 30 years of crud in there now.
  15. Chuck it sounds like the rehostat on your sending unit is worn. There is not any replacements for the digital dash you just have to replace with a known good used one or search and cross your fingers you find a new one. Otherwise taking it out of the tank might disturb it more. I had to change the fuel pump on my Turbo Riv and after they dropped the tank and took out the sending unit mine started flickering "--" occasionally while driving. I would check the ground wire and clean up where it makes contact and check for loose connections from the sending unit at all connections. Digital dash units are different than analog, not interchangeable. Might also try a couple of full tanks ran as far down as you can get then fill up again with some good fuel cleaner in the tank to try and maybe clean up some crud off of the sending unit. I like RXP for this.
  16. Back when 79-85's were produced if you had a car with close to 100k that was A LOT of miles and people usually got rid of them. Later into the 90's especially with FI cars were going way over 200k miles. People used to not drive the wheels off of cars way back when...
  17. Yep 1 to 4 is valuable for T-type owners but if priced too high they won't buy them.
  18. Paul back when I was having a set put on my 85 driver 2 years ago everyone I called (3 different sellers) said they do not carry the fiberglass ones because the fit was so terrible most every set was returned. There is only one manufacturer of these but many distributors. Ed can explain better but every set made seemed to warp or diminish the molds hence the terrible fit. I was not happy the way the body shop fit mine either. I would just call Bobby Ward at North Yale Auto in Sperry, OK he gives ROA members a discount and advertises in the Riview. Bob (northmn) has a lot of experience with them as he's done a super frame off restro of his 83 T-Type!!!
  19. Let's give them the 40 year span to see how they are valued before we judge. For me they are the years I like. In this "business" of old cars there are many thoughts of what one will do or spend on them. I never intended on buying any of my cars with the thought, can I get out of it what I put in it. I just love and enjoy having them, working on them, learning more about them and seeing them come to fuition! Everyone wants to judge them but yet I keep seeing them listed in the Riview and online for sale and the ones that aren't trashed are going for a good price.
  20. No Canadian models did not come with the European tail lights.
  21. You might check on the 1979-1985 E-body group on facebook. There are a lot of convertible owners and guys parting out some cars.
  22. IF they haven't been trashed they sell for a NICE price.
  23. The wheel in this picture is mine from my 84 T-type. 82-84 sport wheels had the longer sleeves on the spokes. 85 Riv had the shorter sleeves. They are nice steering wheels to have.
  24. Can someone please send me info to conact Jim Finn? I'm needing to get a new light sensor since mine has a value of 6. I'm assuming there is no other diagnostics involved in checking this. I'll try to work on getting the top part of the dash taken off now, but I thinks someone has already partially opened the dash and broke some of the clips. I see there is a slim metal tool I saw somewhere to pry it up without breaking it. Can anyone take a pic of what the clips look like that I'd be prying up? Thanks Jayson
