  1. This part is available new from Caspers Electronics. It's the blower control resistor for C68 Climate Control vehicles. http://www.casperselectronics.com/store2/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=972&osCsid=198c44b51932b9c64bb843f84e763ac8 http://www.installationinstructions.com/107146.pdf If people would of had these serviced etc back when they first went bad someone might of reproduced them. Thank God for the GN guys or we would have no parts! I will say in 2005/2006 I was able to order an AC Delco version of this new but it was $$$... FYI. I have seen Riv's that caught on fire from people jacking around with the old blower control resistor.
  2. What numbered component is the vibration dampener near the pulleys?
  3. I was sure it had to be a vibration passed to the frame/body by the engine or trans mounts. Now I'm wondering...
  4. No clunking when driving or breaking. I do have one ABS sensor bad so the ABS light is on most all the time. Yes everything is original to the brakes.
  5. lol I'll let ya know if I hear a chicken...
  6. I have an 89 with factory sunroof that's closed and dead. Does anyone know if the seals needed are still available? Thanks
  7. Thanks Daniel and others, Daniel do you recognize the vibration I mentioned? Any suggestions or which mount might be causing it? Warm engine, foot on brake stopped pulsing vibration, foot off break it goes away. Thank you
  8. Can anyone tell me how many engine mounts and transmission mounts are on the 89 model? I've got some kind of a strange vibration that seems to pulsate through the car when in DRIVE and foot on break stopped. I'm thinking I have a junk mount that's transferring the vibration. This seems to only be when the car is good and warmed up too. Thanks Jayson
  9. No, I wouldn't have one of those cars. I thought we were talking about GM models?
  10. I need to replace mine. Some of the mechanism inside is smashed (IDK how PO's did that) and it won't play.
  11. Yeah it's stupid. GM can't be original and do anything without being a copy cat. Deville or Eldorado sure means more to me than those acronyms. Flagship names come with an impression and statement behind the name. GM obviously doesn't see that. I'm waiting on the R2D2 or C3PO models next.
  12. I wanted to let everyone know that fellow ROA member Mark Sabourin has passed away. Mark was the creator and maintainer of the website for the 1979 to 1985 models. Him, his knowledge of mechanics & electronics and love for the Riviera will be missed. http://www.79-85gm-ebodies.org/ http://obituaries.ambrosesquiresfuneralhomes.com/2013/12/14/mark-d-sabourin/
  13. I will tell you from my experience with 5 of these cars ranging from '83-'85 models, if your transmission is performing as it should just change the fluid & filter and go on. Drive your car in town in Drive, not over drive, use that for highway driving. TCC can go bad and you can have line pressure problems that will make it slam hard into gear. Also trans mounts/engine mounts... Otherwise if much else is wrong with these transmissions you will have a difficult time finding someone who will be able to rebuild them correctly. Next thing is if you need hard parts for the rebuild, you better keep your fingers crossed. Just .02 from someone who's messed with a bunch of them.
  14. Sounds like he could have a line pressure problem too. They shouldn't chunk or slam into gear.
  15. And we've discussed this in depth on the Facebook forum. The final was you either use the crappy aftermarkets or run around with broke bumper fillers. Since nothing else is available we are forced to buy the crappy fillers. Bobby Ward, an ROA vendor in the Riview, sells them. He tried to get better ones made and later reported: "No one wants to work in the United States and trying to communicate with overseas was a never ending deal, he spent thousands of dollars and abandoned the project." Gotta love business in the USA!
  16. Maybe you shouldn't either...Hope your GN doesn't get jealous
  17. Key on my PSI goes up to around 40. Car running at idle stays around 35/36psi increasing with throttle. After key off one time it leaked down over night but comes right back to 40 with 2 sec bump and key on, but still a longer cranking time than normal. After the morning reading though it was only at about 30psi later that afternoon. I'm not sure what's wrong. Guess I'll test the pres reg next but I suspect it's good. Looks like the gas tank will have to be dropped for the 3RD TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Probably that damn pulsator. I had the Buick dealership drop the tank and put the pump in since I had no facilities to do that.
  18. I have the pres gauge, I'll get some values and report back in a few days. Thanks!
  19. Well this morning it still had a hard start, but not near as bad. New fuel pump, new injectors---What's next that could be causing it? Pres Reg?
  20. I just got mine replaced tonight. My idle is so much smoother now! I hope the hard start tomorrow is gone....
  21. www.pure-gas.org It even has an app for the smartphones that uses your location and list the closest station to you. Closest to me is average 120 mile round trip but on highways so good gas mileage and nice liesurely drives in the car. I just wonder if a trip to get gas out weights the benefits of having ethanol free gas in your car while it's sitting and being driven...humm.... Otherwise what products do others have great luck with for fuel additives to ethanol gas?
  22. Sure would suck if you bypassed it and then it was later stolen. I'd try and get it fixed personally.
  23. I bought mine from the Reatta store
  24. Thank you David. Sounds just like when I changed the injectors on the Turbo Riv. My injectors (NOS) came with replacement o-rings (Delphi) came with a packet of replacement o-rings. I suspect they are actually for another version of replacement injectors that probably didn't have the correct O-rings to begin with but IDK. They look the same size as the o-rings on the injectors but I'll switch them out anyway. I finally got all 6 injectors but one of them had the tip damaged so I had to send it back and wait again for a replacement.
  25. I'm sure some of you have replaced your injectors. I've only replaced injectors once on my 84 Turbo Riv, so I'm not sure if the application is the same. I've got half of the new injectors and the o-ring kit sold but I noticed the new injectors already have o-rings on them. There is also some sort of short sleeve that came in the sack with the o-rings. Is there suppose to be two o-rings on each end of the injector? I'm just casually asking since I'm still waiting on the other injectors to come in. I haven't researched this yet either. Any tips/advise greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jayson
