  1. Gently twist the "trip" knob either to the left or to the right, I don't remember, to switch it from metrics. Also the fuel reading you are seeing is how many Liters you have left in your tank. Normally it will tell you how many gallons of gas you have left in your tank. BEWARE: if you ever have to get into the gas tank be very careful how you handle the tank and fuel sending unit. If you don't take it out just the right way you will damage the FSU and your fuel display will flash "--" intermittently... <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  2. Hi Pat did you see my earlier email about these lights on the 79-85's? These are simular, I suppose. I don't think there are bulbs in them, rather they are like a mini florescent light. I don't think they are serviceable.
  3. Is anyone else having problem with the attachement coming up?
  4. Okay now I have both sunvisors that won't stay up. The drivers side was easy to fix for a while. I drilled a small hole though the center and put a pin in it to keep the rod from turning freely in the elbow. Now that rod has broke in half. The passenger side visor with the lighted mirror is a different and doesn't have the same setup. It rather uses a small diameter rod that goes into the plastic housing for the visor. There isn't even a tension screw on the passenger one. Does anyone know of any ideas to fix these or a company that sells reproduction ones? Below are links to both visors (not mine, experimental ones) Thanks
  5. Which one of these wheels are you referring to? http://www.rivowners.org/features/colortrim/83.html
  6. Bob, This part is discontinued and most of them in salvaged vehicles don't work either. I had a crash course in diagnosing mine in my 85. I spent a good afternoon with a meter and the Cruise section of the service manual to still not find out what was wrong with mine. Later after a nap to think about it, I used the electrical section of the service manual, which was much easier to diagnose and found that I also had a bad connection where the wires hooked up to the brake release switch. GOOD NEWS, you can buy a rebuilt cruise servo for 84 & 85 Cruise III System from A1 Cardone. I could only find one at my local Napa dealer. Others like Autozone & O'Reiley's could not order it. The part number you want is CCR381629 for $109.20 When I had them look up this part they didn't have the 307 showing as an option for 85. Good Luck and let me know how it turns out or if you need any help.
  7. Hey lets talk tires again.... I'm in the market for new tires on my cars. Currently on my 84 & 85 I have Yoko Avid Touring 205-75-15 with a UTQG 620 and Regul Select 215-70-15 UTQG 660. Both of the cars ride "rough" in my opinion. When I say rough, I mean you can really feel the pavement seams and imperfections in the roads. I've been checking around locally with some other guys who have larger & older Buicks, Cadillacs & Olds. Most of them seem to ride pretty good and about the only correlation I can find is that most of their tires have a lower UTQG number like around 460,420 one even had I think a 360! The couple of tires shops I've shopped around at have all looked at me strange when I tell them that the lower the UTQG number to softer the ride seems to be. Does anyone else have any input on this before I go out and buy some tires that I'm unhappy with? I know the higher the UTQG number the longer the warranty and sturdier the tire is. What does everyone else have on their 80 model Riv's that they are happy with? Thanks
  8. I'm thinking about trying to strip the illuminated entry out of a 79 to 85 Riv. Does anyone know what componets make up this system? Is the lock lights fiber optic like the light monitors? Thanks in advance.
  9. I had my long time service manager at my GMC dealership print them all out for me while I had the oil changed in my pickup. Check with a dealership you have a relationship with.
  10. Jeff, First what exactly is your electronic level control not doing? Is the air pump not running or is the height sensor not turning the pump on? This could also be a relay problem too. If you need a new compressor I'd look for one in a pick & pull. I've put two on my cars from there and they worked fine. As far as Riding around Riviera style in a car that looks like it has numerous bodies in the trunk or me having to manually put air in the shocks, that's just not my Riviera style but each to his own.

About the Riviera The model line dates to 1963. Restyled in 1995, the car was built on the same platform as the Oldsmobile Aurora. It was considered a standout among modern large luxury coupes in that its V6 engine valves are operated by pushrods instead of overhead camshafts. Buick made the supercharged 3800 Series II V6 engine standard on all Rivieras. In 1998, the company decided to finally pull the plug on the only 2-door model left in Buick's lineup, so this particular vintage is history. Specs are listed below. 15. Thank you. Any idea why the webshots version only shows a very small picture? Webshots gives me a variety of links to use. None of them work unless it's the one below and it only shows a small version.
  16. No matter what I do I still can not get pictures posted into messages on here. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thank you
  17. Any have any idea what this box and gauge is for installed between the air shocks compressor and the fuel canister? It's picture #22 on the ebay item. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...em=270081758568
  18. Hey Rawja, how come when I follow these directions mine show up like this? What am I doing wrong? Cole the '83 at the farm Tina T-Type 1984
  19. Mark, I had a simular issue with my 85 Riv. But mine was not closing all the way and was leaking air out. I just replaced it with another compressor out of a salvage yard. I guess it's a good thing your pressure limiting valve is working or the shocks might of been blown with too much air. David, I've diasceted the compressor that was leaking. I also too some pretty detailed pictures of the air release solenoid. IIRC.
  20. Has anyone had any luck with this board emailing you when post in your reminders/favorites are updated? Mine does not work. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
  21. On my 85 when I got it the plunger to push down to lock was not there. The previous owner had another one in the glove box to replace it with. Has anyone replaced one of these? Anyone know how hard it is to get the new one attached? I've heard sometimes they just fall out in the door after years of use. Thanks
  22. Hi Tom, That sounds like a great car. Email me directly and I'll chat with you about some of those things. JHP@airmail.net
