  1. Well it's finally here. It's the reason I was giving away the blue 85 a few weeks ago. It's STRONG and FAST. Needs some cleaning and under the hood dressing up. Course the rear of the frame will have to have some rust fixing. http://rides.webshots.com/album/561130408wVxuwa
  2. Well I actually didn't use them to buy -- just to review. Then I went to a local tire shop and got the tires.
  3. Not really, I use tirerack.com and tires.com and tell it what size I want and that comfort is the most important to me. Standard tire size for your Riv is 205-75-15, while 225-70-15 was an option for T-types. At first I had some Yoko Avid Touring, they were way too harsh for the Riv. Then I switched to Yokohomo Aegis LS4. They had a very high comfort ride rating and handling.
  4. You will also be amazed if you don't already have a good set of comfort riding tires.
  5. Does anyone have an 85 Riviera with the 307 engine & climate control who can take a good clear, high resolution picture of the sticker on the fan shroud and email it to me? The one is missing on the car my buddy got. Thanks in advance. JHP@airmail.net
  6. Well the car is gone. Thanks to all who were interested.
  7. I have a 1985 Riviera that I've had for about a year. I need to make room for a new toy that will be here soon. The car is in Dallas and free to a good home. Why free? It was given to me free so it wouldn't be tore up or in the wrong hands, so I'm giving it away too. The car does run, but needs some minor things here and there. The car has 3 new tires. This car is highly optioned, has more than any of my others. I need to have this car gone by the 1st week in October. Call me for more information 214-478-2649 Pictures can be seen at this website. http://rides.webshots.com/album/555318292EntXPn I've done a few small things here and there to the car and it does clean up nice as it is.
  8. Yes Ed, I know that. For now I'm just checking it out and trying to find out who in the ROA had it up North a few years back. Somehow it's down near me now. The pictures on the craigslist posting is the same ones the member emailed me years ago. That was the odd part of it.
  9. Does anyone else recognize this pictures of this car? I remember an ROA member emailing them to me years ago. I'm wondering if he sold this car or if this listing is bogus. http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/421875686.html
  10. I found this website where you can order a copy of the invoice for your Buick. They go back to 1982 http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/infosearch/index.php?cmd=area You can also go this this guys webpage and use a window sticker document he made in WORD to edit for your car. http://home.comcast.net/~84gngary/84gnsticker.html
  11. For those of you who don't know about this or aren't on it. http://www.frappr.com/buickriviera When I look at it it tells me image unavilable. Not sure why. Maybe Bernie can fix it.
  12. Hey I am needing to find a good auto transporter. Do you maybe have any suggestions? I need to bring a car back from Delaware to Carrollton Texas, oh and an engine that is on a dolly. Thanks I've already got a call into Brian, but haven't heard back from him yet.
  13. Great. Folks I want to pass on one good tip to keep in mind for any website whether it is ebay or paypal or any website that you enter or have entered your personal information in. If you get any emails from these websites that you need to log in and update this or that, I never use the link in the email. I always start a new internet browser window and manually type in www . paypal . com and log in from there. I just wanted to pass this along.
  14. Thanks Randy, I can't look at evilbay from work but will check it out from home this evening. I sure would like to have myself a nice 1980 Riv with the 350 and trip monitor if anyone knows of one!
  15. Well all that and now her father's dediced he wants the car. Oh well...
  16. Too bad a bunch of us can't start a Riviera Motor Company and just restore and resell ALL year Riv's. Wouldn't that be fun? http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/...ean.f3b8de.html
  17. Sure Stevo.. I just didn't know if you might of been offering $75 for it or what. lol Oh don't mention evilbay... I'm not sure why some sellers think you have to leave their feedback first, especially since they were the ones who received the 1st completed transaction (your payment to them) Those people are just suspicious crooks. Now I've got a negative on my score becuase the guy was mad I gave him a neutral. Of course ebay doesn't want to do a thing with it, but they want to maintain the integrity of their feedback scores ! \/\/hatever
  18. He says it was running and running fine when he parked it. There was so much junk the the garage that's all the pictures I could get. In 1985 there were 65,305 Rivieras made. Of those 1069 were T-types. http://rivowners.org/features/productn.html Yes this T-type has the special T-type wheels too. The engine in these cars are fine. They are very specific and sensitive to vacuum leaks so when working on them most people will not follow the service manual and check certain things so they end up bad mouthing the engine.
  19. Stevo does that mean your interested in it? As a parts car alone for someone who has a T-type it's worth more than $75.00 !
  20. A guy has contacted me locally, wanting to sell his car. It's an 85 T-type with I think 122k miles. Moderatly optioned, rear seat reading lights, light monitors, illuminated entry, digital dash, electronic climate control, power passenger seat, leather interior. Says he bought it back around 1996, drove it for a couple of years. Parked it and it's set. For the last two years it's been hidden inside his fathers garage. He's asking $1200.00 and will only sell it to someone who will try to restore it and appreciate it. He's turned down many offers to "the tricking out cars" bunch. Robert Whisenhunt 972-345-0283, the car is in Richardson, Texas. Pictures can be seen here. http://rides.webshots.com/album/560353487abYaTy
  21. Too bad we can't all get together and some tuning and testing since we all have the same engines. I'm still waiting on the ILC from an aftermarkets parts store. I still have the Buick parts department looking for one. He said they replaced so many of them on 307's he still remembered the part number from memory! AMAZING He said a few years back they probably threw a bid load of them away! I guess unless someone comes up with an aftermarket version we can't turn the AC on unless we're going down the road.
  22. I will take pictures of the clamps maybe later today to show. I'm going to look around for some of the pliers today. ILC is the Idle load compensator. No it doesn't have anything to do with passing emissions, that's already been taken care of for the next year, but I'm trying to get the car to keep from dying when it's idling with the AC on and you put a load on the engine. Little things like I found the THERMAC was stuck closed off to fresh/cooler air at all times, what a difference it make when I got that taken care of. My ILC is not retracting and extending like it should, unless Buicks idea of retracting and extending is lay down and stand up, I must have a bad diaphram inside the ILC. I just had the carb rebuilt and it's been taken back twice. The shop keeps saying, everything's been set to specs. But I know they have not taking the driveability section of the SM and checked it all out, so I'm taking care of that myself. Provided the carb was rebuilt properly and all the individual parts inside and on the carb were adjusting correctly after the rebuild, since I have no trouble codes stored in the computer the only thing I can do is follow the driveability section. There was no way I could of rebuilt the carb by myself at the time. John: do you have a good suggestion for someone here locally who would know how to check and make sure the carb is adjusting correctly etc if I need a second opinion? Someone maybe through the BCA who's had great experience with a carb repair/rebuild? Of course everyone will tell you they can rebuild them but after the fact they always say they don't know why it's not running right.
  23. TOO funny, can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll have to keep checking the website in the future. BTW I was curious how much the $100.00 in the savings account was now 50 years later. I did some checking and it was around $700.00, not much, but not bad for someone who never expected it coming to them.
  24. So when you guys are saying canister valve I guess your talking about the canister control valve? Any of you had any problems with the TVS switch going bad? I know on the hose from the CCV to the carb bowl it has clamps on it. Can you tell me what the name is of the pliers I will need to get the reverse clip back on the hose tight? I need to go get one but don't know what to ask for. Thanks
  25. Here is more on the rust company Tim mentioned. Tim let me know and I'll go in with you to buy stock. This aritcle appeared in the August 16th issue of Old Cars Weekly News & Marketplace. I think it's not really an article but rather a clever advertisement. The website it references sure looks that way. Still, for those who went to Tulsa, it might make for an interesting read. -Bill ================================== MISS BELVEDERE TO SHINE AGAIN Tulsa, Okla. - After spending 50 years quietly rusting beneath the Tulsa County Courthouse lawn, the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, affectionately known as "Miss Belvedere," may soon be returned to her former glory. According to the Ultra One Corp. Web site, the company, which developed Safest Rust Remover products, has been enlisted to chemically de-rust what has become one of the world's most famous "finned" Mopars. Robert Carney of Frederick, Md., nephew of the car's apparent winner, is expected to take possession of the car following an official presentation ceremony on Sept. 14 in Tulsa. Carney told the Tulsa World newspaper that an agreement has been worked out with the Ultra One Corp. to stabilize the 50-year-old automobile, once ownership has been confirmed. "Once we get it derusted, we think it'll run," an optimistic Carney told the Tulsa newspaper. "We really think it will." Ultra One Corp. spokesman Dwight Foster said he expects it will take about six months to complete the de-rusting process of the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, along with all the other artifacts that were placed in the trunk such as the case of Schiltz beer cans and other items. Ultra One recently launched a Web site, www.missbelvedere.com http://www.missbelvedere.com/ , that will document the Belvedere's cleaning process. According to Carney, the rust needs to be neutralized to preserve the rusting Belvedere. "We're not going to take it apart and try to restore it," he said. "Ideally, what we'd like to see is that when it's in pretty good shape, the car would go back to Tulsa for another unveiling," Carney said. However, according to officials in Tulsa, Carney has yet to be verified as the winner of the car. Officials state that there is still some paperwork that needs to be completed before the car's new owner will be verified. Carney's aunt, 93-year-old Catherine Humbertson Johnson of Bowling Green, Md., is the oldest sister of Raymond Humbertson, who submitted the apparent winning entry in a 1957 contest shortly before the Plymouth Belvedere was buried at the Tulsa County Courthouse. Humbertson died in 1979. He and his wife, Margaret, who died in 1988, had no children. ===========
