  3. Yes it's a good place to buy a Franklin. Not a lot of parts for sale, but you will make many connections and find what you need. GO TO A TREK!!!!! I'm leaving Saturday morning. The 1923 Franklin is in the trailer already, and yes, it's for sale.
  4. I really don't like it when people say "A model" instead of the proper form, "Model A." Let's debate that for a few days.
  5. For what it's worth, I responded to the ad asking for a photo and more information, and never got a response.
  6. A good friend and antique car driver always says, "If you can drive it around the block, you can drive it around the world." I always carry a cell phone and some basic tools. I used to carry a fuel pump. Most everything ignition related for my Franklin is Delco and available at any decent parts store (got points at Pep Boys once).
  7. Anyone know about this? Franklin Antique Engine (Domark)
  8. The distance between the wheel housings is 83" The wheel housings are 9.25" high The door is 79" high. The trailer is located in Cutchogue, NY 11935.
  9. I don't think so. I believe there is a retainer held on with bolts around the circumference. I have an engine sitting in my garage with no flywheel. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.
  10. How big? I've had my Dad's '23 Franklin Demi-Sedan in it. I believe the door is 7' high. Also had my Grandfather's 1933 Chrysler Imperial phaeton in it. They don't get much bigger than that.
  11. This may be the most original and unmolested series 10 Franklin anywhere. The fenders were repainted at some point, and the engine was rebuilt by Dutch Kern in the early 70s. My father has owned the car since 1968. Asking $25,000. Car is located on eastern Long Island, NY. It will be at the Franklin Trek next month.
  12. This trailer is 8.5x24. If you are familiar with C&C Trailers, you know what it is. This rig makes a Haulmark seem very cheap (I know, I have one of those also). It has an oak, strip-plank floor and is all aluminum above floor level except for the ramp. The entire thing is overbuilt, and cost $14,500 new, I have the receipt. I never used it much, but it will need tires due to age. 10,500 GVW, with 8-lug 16" wheels. A beautiful trailer. Asking $8000. sdbraverman@gmail.com or 631-988-5957
  13. It looks a lot like the Biflex bumper on my Dad's 1923 Franklin.
  14. I have all of the work I can't handle done by my local Chrysler store, Mullen Motors in Southold, NY. They are a family-owned dealership that's been there since 1927. This week the check engine light came on in my Dakota. I called, they said drop by any time. They know my name. The tech checked the code, repaired a rotten evap hose, and cleared the light. He spent at least 30 min on the truck, and used some hose, clamps and a fitting. I watched and chatted with the mechanic, who is a nice guy, as are all of them there. The service advisor (Mr. Mullen also), gave me a smile and said, "Get out of here." In other words, no charge. I didn't buy the truck from them, but I did buy a mini-van there that we no longer own (wife traded it for a Hyundai). Because of these guys, I always want to drive a Chrysler product. Most dealers are not like them.

  16. I am a "shop" teacher. Although today I am referred to as a "technology" teacher. I try to give my eighth graders basic skills with tools. Many have never held a screwdriver, and the girls are usually better students than the boys. Everyone should read this book: Shop Class as Soulcraft by Matthew B. Crawford
  17. Gotta love that written appraisal. Looks legit to me.
  18. On a car like your Continental, I would probably leave well enough alone and slow down a little.
  19. When I bought my first antique car in 2000 (1932 Franklin), I called the firm that my father had been using for antique car insurance since 1960. They would not write me a policy because I was too young. I was 26. I called Hagerty, and they now have a customer for life. Great people!
