  1. The person who sent me the photo has confirmed it's a 1915 Hupmobile. It's on display at the New Orleans Zoo.
  2. My father has a Sears with a similar but much smaller muffler. There are only two shells though, not four and it's pretty quiet. I'd love to see what the rest of the bus looks like.
  3. Get a 6V Optima battery. Optima AGM 12V Batteries - Deep Cycle Batteries by Optima
  4. I was delivering a car that I had just sold (1933 Chrysler Imperial Dual Cowl Phaeton $$$). I got onto a ferry with the car in my enclosed trailer (very expensive ferry ride) and realized that I left the keys to the trailer at home, so the car was locked up in the trailer. I called home and had my wife give the keys to a deck hand, and waited several hours for the next boat to bring the keys.
  5. I like the tree growing in the middle of it.
  6. Maybe a little gentle heat from a heat gun. Be careful.
  7. That's funny, I always thought they made Chevys look like Model As. Ok, so what's the point of having them on cars that have grilles? Or even worse, I've seen them on Franklins. I mean, really, what's the point?
  8. Doug Hull of Hullco garage in Layton, NJ can probably repair whatever is left of what you have. Or he can probably make one. Auto Restoration Shop | Expert Automotive Restoration in NJ | Hullco-Layton Garage
  9. Standard right-hand thread. First you have to remove the "snout" for the hand crank. You'll have to make a tool for this from a piece of pipe.

  11. I wouldn't look at them. They're ugly.
  12. I changed the oil just before I tried to start it. My only thought is that the oil pump is high up on the side of the block, not submerged in the oil like on most engines. It was dry inside.
  13. Here's another picture taken when my dad bought the car. Notice the modern car driving down the street.
  14. I use one of these. It also keeps the kids' DVD player running for a few hours and charges cell phones. Amazon.com: Roadpro PORTABLE POWER SUPPLY 12V MPSL-600: Sports & Outdoors
  15. The pump did loose its prime. The pump is on the side of the engine, so it's not submerged in oil. I packed it with grease, and instant oil pressure. Took me about 10 minutes to do. Thanks for all the suggestions. YouTube - 1932 Plymouth PA
  16. Check it out. YouTube - 1932 Plymouth PA
  17. Paint is very expensive. To paint it a non-authentic color would not be very wise.
  18. I tried pumping oil in through the gauge fitting with no success. Then I packed the oil pump with grease and presto! 40psi.
  19. Maybe, but I doubt it. The old oil came out clean. I'm trying to avoid dropping the pan, because I'm lazy. Even though it probably should be dropped and cleaned as a matter of maintenance. I'm starting to sound like one of those, "It was fine when I parked it [15 years ago]" guys.
  20. I started my PA today for the first time in many years. I ran it for about 20 seconds and no oil pressure showed on the gauge, so I shut it down. I just put in fresh 30W. Any thoughts? I removed the flex line and it was clear. I then cranked the engine and no oil came out. The oil pump on this engine is driven directly off the cam, and so it can't be spun with a drill. I would think that an oil pump would be self-priming?

  22. I think I know what's wrong. I have a Plymouth with the same carb, and I had the same problem once. I called my dad who owned the car for 30 years before me. He immediately told me the jet had fallen out. I dropped the float bowl, and the main jet was lying in the bottom of it. Check that.
  23. Hmmm.. Could be the flexible line is collapsed, but this car usually has 30psi at idle. That should be enough to show something on the gauge. I've got some work ahead of me.
  24. 1935 Chevy and 1931 Ford.
