Putting a Downdraft Carb on a 1931 Buick
Old26Buick replied to SteveHotRod's topic in Buick - Pre War
I made one out of a piece of steel. I drill a hole that was size of intake manifold. Used a 40 Chev carb with bigger opening. So used a larger drill and make a taper. I can email a drawing. Steve- 17 replies

Roger Barrett, Thanks, just what I was looking for. I can get both seals which would be the best. Have replaced the felt about every 2-3 years even with fluid doen an inch. Going to check shaft for smoothness. Thanks again Steve Falmouth Me 1927 Buick Woodie wagon -
Someplace I read where you could replace the felt seal with a modern oil seal. Mine still leaks after lowering gear oil level. Thanks for any help.

On both my 26 and 27 Buicks I used a end section of 28 gen. and used a 28 Dist. Actually you can use quite a few differant later GM dist. Haven't had any trouble in over 10 years. Got all the parts from NAPA. Good luck -
have had both my 26 and 27 Buick done at local muffler shop. Alot cheaper than sending away for kit.

I just installed new hood supports from Speedway. Fits 42-48 Ford only. Worth looking at them. Hood never shut so good and very little gap by firewall.

12 volt starter for 48 Ford
Old26Buick replied to Old26Buick's topic in Ford and Mercury - 1932 to 1953
Went to my starter rebuilder. He took a 56 Field coil (12 volt) and put in my 6 volt 48 Ford starter. Works great doesn't turn over as fast as the 6 volt starter running on 12 volt. With the 6 volt starter running too fast it had chipped a couple teeth on ring gear. -
Duplicate Key Blanks for a 1935 Buick Special
Old26Buick replied to 1935 Buick Special 46c's topic in Buick - Pre War
I had keys made for my 48 Ford and locksmith took all my locks and coded them so One key would fit all. Did the same on a 36 Chev back in the 70's. So handy to have just one key. Good luck -
Would a 12 volt battery pak have enough juice to run a CB and GPS for say 8 hrs. Or would I be better off with a 12 volt battery and charge every night, Thanks
-
I would to install a 12 volt alternator on my 27 Buick so I could run a CB and GPS. Has anyone put a pulley on shaft to water pump. Of coarse I would have to check RPM of water pump shaft. Thanks
