  12. Went to my starter rebuilder. He took a 56 Field coil (12 volt) and put in my 6 volt 48 Ford starter. Works great doesn't turn over as fast as the 6 volt starter running on 12 volt. With the 6 volt starter running too fast it had chipped a couple teeth on ring gear.

  15. I would to install a 12 volt alternator on my 27 Buick so I could run a CB and GPS. Has anyone put a pulley on shaft to water pump. Of coarse I would have to check RPM of water pump shaft. Thanks
  16. I converted my 48 Ford to 12 volt and left the 6 volt starter in. It has been making an awful noise. It even started to chip the ring gear. Talked to my starter guy. He used a field coil out of a 56 (12 volt) Ford starter. Sure turns slower and makes no noise.
  17. When I restored my 48 Ford Conv. I sandblasted frame and used POR-15. Today I can take a hamper and hit it hard and will not chip off. I bought an enclosed trailer from the South. Was shipped to Maine and rusted on way. I wire brushed the bad rust and used POR-15, Messy to work with but won't have to think about rust again. Bad part is no reducer with take it off your skin. have to wear it off. Wonderful paint. You do have to top coat if out in sun. Good Luck
