    New Guy

Jim: I just had that bulletin out the other day for a friend working on a 64. It is #65-123. Couldn't believe my eyes when it said to prop up the hood and remove the driver's side hinge.
  2. Barney: I fill my 39 so the coolant is just barely showing in the filler neck. I have put in an overflow bottle and attached a line to the bottom of the over flow tube but no pressure cap. This is strictly to catch anything that might leak out when hot. Non 39 owners reading this may not realize that on 39s the radiator filler neck is soldered off the rear of the top tank. You're unable to look directly down to see the cores.
  3. Thanks for the post Rich. Saw it on the NEOBCA Website. What a shock. Prayers to his family and friends.
  4. Derek: That pipe removal was covered in the 1942 Service Bulletins. Problem was the crankcase fumes were being drawn through the carb and causing "coking " of the jets. Early attempt at PCV. By the way my newly acquired 37 40C has a 47 engine also, although it is not yet in the car. As the original engine disappeared years ago, the former owner acquired this one that had been mounted in a 37 M46 so some (but not all) the correct 37 parts needed for the changeover were there. I'm acquiring those parts now. I'll probably paint the engine the original 37 color as well. Only the knowledgeable Straight Eight people will know the diffference. Good to meet you at Danvers.
  5. Tom: Agree totally with your paragraph on old car revival. As Glass City Chapter Director, when I'm approached regarding what should be done on a car the person is considering buying, what you're saying is what I'm saying. Thanks for posting.
  6. Dandy Dave: Saw those pics. Just wanted to note to others browsing this forum that there were many more Rivieras there than were pictured. I had the pleasure of being parked next to Dave Shipman's 92 Midnight Blue. Stunning car. Thanks also for sharing your C36 with alll who were there. Not very often one can get up so close to one of these oldies to watch and hear it run.

    Thanks

Thanks to all in the Minuteman Chapter and all other volunteers for a fine show. Certainly Roy Faries and Mike and Nancy Book for their work before, during, and after the show. Great weather, too. I really enjoyed meeting many of the characters on this forum as well as some of the vendors and longtime BCA members from the New England area.
  8. Thanks for the pics , Brian. It was a fine meet. Good people and beautiful cars. I'm disappointed to see there were no pics showing the 1974-1998 Rivieras located in the "back forty". Hope someone will post some if they have them. Congratulations on your elevation to BCA President. Your enthusiasm will be a great asset to the club.
  9. Agree with Danny's comments. Spark plug cover is 1941 and later. Fans were black. Carb has been replaced. Decal only used on right side of valve cover.
  10. Tuesday afternoon. Taking Boston tour on Wed.
  11. Lamar: I scout the 1937-1940 for sale stuff on ebay. The script 1951-52 hubcaps show up there a lot because the sellers think they are prewar. Also the raised letter hubcaps that started in 1954 and go to the early sixties get posted there as well. Check those prewar years in your ebay search and you may find some nice ones.
  12. Rod: I had a great conversation with Dave Eberts of the BCA Prewar Division last night. He owns a Model 39. It was a late in the year gussied up version of the Model 34 with many trim differences. Very interesting. You may want to contact him. Let us know what your cowl tag says.
  13. Ya done good, Jerry! Enjoy it now. Remember every time someone breaks into a smile or gives you a thumbs up when you drive by, you just won first place.
  14. I agree with Pete. That's what I use in my 39.
  15. We're planning to be there later Tuesday, go on Boston tour Wed. then relax and soak up the cars to leave Sat. afternoon. Planning to bring 97 Riviera 140K miles. I'm really looking forward to meeting Forum posters.
  16. Or you can post them here as many of us have various years of parts books in our collections. This is a real helpful group of people on this forum. Need both Group # and Part # as printed on the package or wrapping if you still have them. If not, post pics if possible.
  17. Great job, Grant! So much better looking than plain wheels.
  18. Keith, Dan, John: This car was at the Great Lakes Regional last summer displayed by Keith's 72 Centurion and it's everything the pictures show it to be. It brought back my memories to 1966 when my parents bought one new. Blue Mist solid color and blue cloth interior. Ours had the chrome moldings around the side windows vs. this one. It was the car I learned to drive on and started my love for Buicks. My parents traded it for a new 69 Electra 225 sedan. Nice car but not the performance of that 66. Thanks for sharing.
  19. 1937. I agree with Brian.
  20. What does the cowl tag say? Looks like a 42,guys, but what about a 46 through 49 Special? If a picture of the grille was available we could tell better. Looks like rear fenders have been replaced as there are no chrome trim pieces attached.
  21. Style 4919 is a Model 91 6 passenger touring. No jump seats or divsion window. Model 4919F is a 6 passenger with division window and no jump seats
  22. Style 4933 is a Model 90L 8 passenger limo with division window and jump seats
