  1. Randy, how about a trade for a nice and very rare 1907 Maxwell DR? only about 5 in existence. it is 22 hp and 3 spd trans. far nicer then the lightweight Maxwells. Built in Tarreytown NY. I have 3 brass cars and am fine with two........... then your Cord could sit in my garage, as eye candy.
  2. Randy, time to make that beast run! it is beautiful eye candy though............................
  3. AND IT WOULD BE WISE TO DROP THE POLITICS..... good morning Steve! Up and atem!
  4. Fred Hoch, Magnolia NJ. My Dad worked with Fred at Shavitz Engineering. Fred bought into Shaeffer and Long and as a 10 yr old, my eyes were brimming with Mercer, Apperson Jack Rabbit, Thomas Flyer, Napier, Pierce Silver Arrow, to name a few. The smell of gas, musty mohair and paint all infiltrated my veins. Fred was always accommodating and kind. Even gave Dad a holdover job for 6 months. Other kids enjoyed baseball and I dreamed of great rusty brass cars............. and Fred always had a box of fresh donuts from the bakery! what more could a poor kid ask for? thank you Fred.
  5. most made in India................... still pretty cool looking!
  6. doors gates and.............................
  7. I have found that the smaller amount you invest the greater the returns. aint that the truth!
  8. would make a cool mailbox.............
  9. wasnt the goal Frantz, but this is the way it sometimes turns out- and over 30 yrs was mentioned, but doesnt matter...........
  10. so it seems the answer is no. no more JC whitney. will hit an upholstery shop........ shame, because I have an industrial sewing machine that will do leather, but no skills........
  11. I understand your point Randy, but this car will be done totally on a budget by me. I have maybe 15-20 yrs left, and I dont care less what happens to it after that. thinking anything is better then how its been treated the last 45 years. Not interested in going upside down on full restorations, just improving what is there for the next guy. This will be a very low cost build when done. back to books on the topic.............. so Tom, Elmers wood glue max, really? thank you for the info on the glues. so many to choose from and never used any of them.
  12. Actually you would have long term capital gains and that's alot less. so that would be about 40% and in NJ another 7%. so yeah, close to half.......... didnt even add the auctioneers fees. In NY the state tax is even higher......... so long term capital gains is meaningless in this scenario .still close to 20 mill. we arent talking 15% on stocks here.
  13. so Matt- 30 years ago you bought the "right" ferrari for 1 million. today it is worth 40 million and you have no problem with giving the IRS 20 million........... Im proud of ya, but honestly, not what I would do.
  14. I use vinegar in my cooling systems. cheap and effective.
  15. That is so weird, we posted practically the same comment at the same time, I promise I didn't copy off of you and we are both named Ron- could you be my long lost brother?
  16. yes really. most intelligent people who are spending 40 mill are doing it privately, unless you are neuvo rich.............. everyone isnt interested in giving the gov 1/2 their take.
  17. in the end- does it matter to anyone whether this car sold for 6k or 8k? I dont think so, only to the OP. And Matt, in regard to the truly high end Ferrari, Bugatti, etc. that trade hands privately, nobody knows what they sell for except the buyer and seller. far too much tax liability.
  18. getting ready to redo much of the wood on my car. books suggested? epoxies and glues suggested and why? there seems to be so many adhesives to choose from. epoxy resins to save wood? thank you. ps also a car near 08054 to take xlnt photos of. Philly
  19. are you cutting up an original car or building a repro????????????
  20. and the Ranger. well they brought it back and it costs more then a new f150............ so not sure how that is going to fly. the people who run these companies are out of touch......... redundancy. a 15-18k ranger that is basic trans would sell- but 30-40k????????????? dream on.
  21. Ild love to have it, but the shipping would be insane. I would suggest selling on ebay. start the bidding at a few hundred and watch it run..............
  22. could you at least have the decency to let us know the selling price why? carini never does.....................................!
  23. Manhatten Sports Car and Chowder Society .... that is too funny! do the pinkies go up or down?
