I don't know Dennis by name, but if he was on Tom Lester's Great American Race Team in the 1980's, I'm sure I had contact with him. Tom's team helped anybody who needed it, the whole Great Race family was a great bunch of people. I also visited with them at Tom Lester's collection in Deerfield Beach, FL. in 1984.

I've owned my 66 VW Bug for 35 years and had my niece go to the tag office in Germany and had my front tag made. VW 66 BUG I leave that one on the front and found a USA Armed Forces Europe tag for the rear. (I was stationed there in 1966) Taped a copy a of the state law that authorizes YOM tags to the back of my current Antique Car Tag and keep it in the glove box. (Problem Solved) Each of the 50 states have their own rules, but we've driven the car in about 25 states and never had a problem.

The question was about a hub puller.

Most auto parts stores will loan tools to their customers. Worth asking!

Darn good looking REPLICA! Needs a interior.

I love it, just the way it is. About 15 years ago, I was parked in the HPOF Class with our 66 VW when a Pre-WWII Buick in that condition. The owner had made it run and drive, put radial tires on it an drove it to the National AACA Show in Hiawassee, GA. It was the hit of the show with spectators, but was not selected for HPOF recognition. Neither was our 66 VW. To me it was what our hobby is all about. I have 2 HPOF Rejects, both of which Run & Drive Safely and the VW has done about a dozen national AACA tours. Still enjoyable to keep them going and present them as people remember them. Face lifts look great on some ladies, while they fail on others.

Lots of paranoia here, let's get back to car stuff. -
purchase of a 1964 Oldsmobile 98 convertible

Appears to be a nice car. I have a friend with the two door hardtop version of that, in Maroon. A big strong boat. He paid $5000. But it should have a paint job. He has a fleet of big boat cars and loves them all. -
Can someone design a DF Sticker to put on the name badge, with a space for the User Name if not your real name? If your real name is Terry Bond, use it, if your DF name is OldCarFudd, this would be the place for it.

Interesting story and track. Reminds me if walking the Charlotte Motor Speedway with it's 31 degree banking. We walked the bottom part where it looks flat. A guy in a wheelchair fell over sideways. Apparently speed is required to stick to even a slight banking. I think when I drove the Daytona Speedway, I never went more than half way up the steep banks.

Flat blade screw drivers. You mean plastic or wooden handle chisels? I wish you had added the Phillips head screws and screwdrivers to the list. Worst invention of 1935! i realize I and all other critical judges would take points away points for torx head screws on pre 1936 cars.

1. The BFH should not be in that list. 2, Neither should the air chisel or air hammer, Never used one on a car.

Should 25 year old cars really be called "Antiques"?
Paul Dobbin replied to f.f.jones's topic in General Discussion
When we moved to North Carolina, the first car show I went to was just a "Car Show". They had Antique Cars, Trucks, Street Rods Sports Cars, Muscle Cars, Custom Cars, homemade cars, New Cars, Used Cars, anything and everything. Sponsored by the Chevrolet Dealer it became an annual event for Toys For Tots. The dealer gets local merchants to donate stuff to be auctioned off and the proceeds go to the Veterans & Toys For Tots. There are 3 trophies for various things and everybody gets along and enjoys the day together. -

XWhen I joined my first old car club, it was a Model A Ford club and I had a 34 Ford V8.. They accepted me and the V8. Time passed and they then called called themselves a Antique Car Club without defining that term. For 40 of the 50 years that I've belonged to that club, I've been President 7 times, Car Show Chairman, Newsletter Editor, Tour Leader, and general Do-It-All-Guy. Then we moved it the NC mountains and started a new club for touring and asked for 50+ year old vehicles. When we tour, I write the tour instructions and lead in a 34 Ford with the oldest car behind me setting the pace and the others follow in age order. That way except for me everybody else is between cars of similar vintage. And as you know, the last car in line always goes the fastest, just to keep up. We've had several tours where the 1913 Brewster, the 1913 Overland and the 1914 Model T were faster than a lot of the newer cars and we all had to wait on them. All car people are fun when they're playing with their "old cars". -

When I joined AACA in 1973 with a 1934 Ford, it was 39 years old, I was 28. To me it was an antique and still is. But, I'm not! -
ggbelsky, That's a great looking 33 Pontiac, my favorite vintage. (33 & 34 cars) The hood in the picture looks fine but appears to have been over buffed and looks like primer showing through the black paint. Most metal can be repaired and repainted to look original. Keep looking for parts, but consider finding a body man who can metal finish the needed repairs for you. Somebody here can tell you what other GM cars shared the same fenders. Welcome to the AACA Forums, you can find great advice here.

1953 Buick Skylarks on all time low???
Paul Dobbin replied to Hans1965's topic in General Discussion
When I watched part of the Mecum Auction this year, it looked more like Mannheim Used Car Auction than a collector car auction. Lots of 2 to 5 year old muscle cars at stupid prices. Could have bought 3 of those Skylarks for the price of one of those Dodge Chargers ! I still like the older stuff. -
Appears to originally have been horse drawn. Check out the steering wheel that shares it's column with higher drivers seat. I can visualize Laurel & Hardy using that for a few laughs. Kind of like them moving the piano up hundereds of stairs before having to hoist it to the second floor.

Punksatawney Phil said we'll have a early spring, if you can believe any rodents forecast. (Sorry Phil, about the spelling) -
I also prefer my old T-Shirts for gas & oil. Sometimes a favorite T-Shirt cut in squares lasts for a long time.
