  1. I hope you can appreciate a little humor from a non-Reatta owner, but I did share the banquet table at Batavia with two sets of owners - it must have been a bit cozy fitting 29 people into 10 two seat cars??? And I have been thinking about adding a Reatta to me other Buicks. John
  2. As we have our annual show this August 28th in Vernon, CT and a NE REgional in NJ the end of this month, I will be doing some "recruiting". As I said previously, I think many with the older cars in the Northeast do not use the internet, so I will make sure info gets circulated. Other then the three I had for the initial petition, how do you want to handle membership roster? I will simply pass on to you names of BCA members that want to join. Because t6hey do not use the internet, I visualize that I would write up a brief story to be printed in our Yankee newsletter, and send a copy to others in the NE region to make sure the locals members have an oportunity to join. John
  3. I hope both you John, and G-K can get together at our BCA Yankee show on August 28. Also plan for the next Regional in August, 2006 in Vernon, CT. This is a part way for each of you. If you want to stay over in CT the night before this years show, advise the Quality Inn you are part of the Buick group - we get a bit of a break on the rates. Rooms all have microwave and frige. I promise you more time to meet and chat, as the one day show will give you more time then the Nationals with so much going on. For more info, you can contact me off-line j.scheib@comcast.net Also let me know if you need a registration form for this year, but day of show also OK. John John
  4. Tom, I guess that '95 just posted for sale is to old for you. But low milage!! Better then most newer ones I have seen around here. John
  5. Michael, Thanks for the recognition. I am still recovering from the short sleep, one car judged, the other Driver (both sucesful by the way), and trying to get the cars cleaned after the rain, judging (for the first time). The Gold award for the first time being judged for the '32 was great, but the highlight for the trip was seeing your car, getting the set up complete, the "after" ride in the parking lot was one thrill. The other, I must admit, was the drive up by Watkins Glen, a brief stop at the Racing Museum (need to get back to that place soon) joining with some Minuteman members for a tour of the Curtiss Museum in Hammonsport, meeting on the highway, some Maryland members, and the return along part throughway, but also Route 20, breakfast at 7:30 (after 1 1/2 hours from Batavia, in Skaneateles, along the lake, and a beautiful drive with the '68 Riv (I think that qualifies for the BPG as I had to pass on Route 20 and "pinned" my wife back in the front seat with a slight scream (before this she had no idea of the power, and maybe neither did I, as I had been afraid to push it). What a "blast" the whole meeting was, and I was sorry I could not meet more people that write on this forum. John
  6. Roberta, Thanks so much for the update. It looks like I had some conflicting times from previous inifo, so glad you were able to get this posted to clear up my mind. John
  7. Yes, it would be good to see the schedule posted on the main forum changed with the date of change so we are sure we have the latest. Keith, do you have date and time for your Regional/Chapter meeting. Is there any meeting plkanned for BDE? A bit premature for PreWar as that group is not yet "official", I suppose. John
  8. Darn, The arrival conflicts with the drag racing at Lancaster, so it may be until Friday until we see the car. John
  9. Ryan, Good luck with your project. I do not remmeber my families first cars, as I am 68 and I do have some recollection of my family's cars in the 1940's. But my father was through quite a few cars by the time I came along in 1937. I do recall, at least in eastern PA, my grandmother always referred, until the 1970s, as "machines" rather then automobiles or cars. You should also know that the Buick Club is having a National meet next week, so you might find a slow response to your request. John
  10. Chuck, I am glad to see your posting. In some respects, I feel like a godfather to this car, as one of several invited to look at it when first discovered. I wish you well on this project, and am ready to help. I am also glad you joined the forum. I am sure you will find it useful. I will try to get as many pics of the 32s, especially this series for you from Batavia, as I hope we see many more there. John
  11. It seems our director in CT gets one or more of these a month, and in many cases, most owners think they have "gem', simply because it is 25-35 years old. It is hard to give them the news that it is a worn out car, that would need more money then it is currently worth to make it the "gem" they visualize. And it is not worth near as much as they expect. I guess it just comes down to the automobile version of a "Reality Show". We do know of some people that love the large 2 and 4 door Electras that can get them up and running, so we try to hook them up. I think a number of them probably eventually get to the demolition derby. We have also posted them on the buy and sell forum, as I think that is much easier then a Bugle ad, that may link any interested parties with the owner. I guess we could always suggest to the owners it is like your IRA, Retiremant funds or Social Security - not worth as much as you expected at this stage. That is life, I am afraid. John
  12. I am also sorry that you could not make the trip. I was looking forward to meeting you also. John
  13. That is too bad, as I am sure it would made an interesting transition from the history to thge present. I hope we will be seeing the car in Batavia. John
  14. Yes, keep up the good work and when you get a chance, keep those pictures coming. And encourage some of your members to write their stories on My and My Buicks. I think all of in the US enjoy hearing the stories of how the cars in Europe were acquired and/or restored. John
  15. That is going to one beautiful car. Don't know if I have every seen on here in the US. John
  16. Does this mean you missed the presentation in Elmira at the Juneteeth event? John
  17. If anyone has any interest, this car is about 10 miles from me and I may try to look it up Monday anyway. I wonder what the reserve is. Also, I wonder where it was parked. The front looks pretty good, but the back must have been open to drips amd standing water, sun, etc. If you want some info after a look, e-mail me at j.scheib@comcast.net. I will see what I can do. John
  18. I do not think this is any serious competition to Bquick, and the Faithful Pursuit on the Performance forum. John
  19. Just a thought I have - while Studebaker said they would keep building in Canada, Buick can also say they are still building cars, only this time it seems it will be in China, where the "badge" is doing quite well, I believe. John
  20. Erndog's post said the part is same for 60-70-90 series, so looks like the 50 will not work. I will try to a measurment tomorrow, as it i still on the car. I will let you know. John
  21. Thanks, I got them and am giving it considerable thoughtover this weekend. John
  22. I had a few other things on my plate, and our meeting not until the 14th, but I will try to get the signatures. John
  23. I am taking apart a hulk of a 50 series and most certain it would not fit. If yiou are still looking, let me know and I will try to see what size the one is on a 50 series. John
  24. Dear Fireball V8, Did you receive my e-mail at your listed address? Despite the distance, I have an interest. Can you either post or e-mail me some photos? Let me know if you have the e-mail, and now I see you are not quite sure of the price. Let me know about that as well. If you did not see the e-mail, you can write me privately through the forum id. John
