  1. What part of Vermont to you live. Likely the closest chapter is Albany or CNE, which is around Springfield/Northampton, MA area. The Upstate NY, which is centered around Albany, but they had a summer meeting at Lake George, which should be as close as some of the others had driven. We have members that have to drive an hour to get to events in CT, so some are infrequent attendees here as well. Perhaps, if you can find a few other members in VT, you can get a chapter formed up there. John
  2. PS: You might also note that the Buick and Dupont sheets show a few other combinations. If you have a fax number, I can send that sheet to you or scan it into an e-mail. John
  3. Have you been dealing with Mac Blair in PA? He has some color chips and I miht be able to get some reasonable copies to you. Where are you located? If you want to write me a message off the forum that would be fine. I can possibly direct you to some actual indications of color from the chips. Having youbeen reading the BCA Bugle? There are some photos of cars with many of the colors over the years that might give you some help. John
  4. It is interesting that you have two new members checking this thread. The fan base grows. Did you ever get the web site up for the car? I wanted to order a shirt, and was waiting to see the mailing address and to whom to make the check to. John
  5. Assuming you live in Illinois, that is likely one point, so half way could be from or to the east or west coast. I can recommend someone from VT that would come or go to the midwest from the east, or the opposite, but I doubt he would go to the west coast for a car to go to the midwest. He charges at fairly reasonable rates. He took my car from CT to Batavia and return. He usually will be lower then the major carriers and has a one car enclosed trailer. Other then that, check Hemmings. They always have many ads.
  6. Bill, Are you sure that was not one of your softwear vendors driving the Ferrari? John
  7. Bill, In case you did not know, the commuter trains going into Amsterdam and Rotterdam and probably other cities, have special compartments to hold the bikes, so you pedal from home to the train station, and other train station to work, and reverse in the afternoon. Some pedal in the snow also. And if you drive, stay out of those bike paths or get ready to empty our pocket in fines. Sounds like you did not have time for any car mesuems in The Netherlands. John
  8. Yes, I got in via the aaca page, but trying to go direct to Buick does not work with the internet link. I assume the rest of you figured that out too to write on the forum. John
  9. Bill, In case you do not know, Brandweer, is translated Fire Service, so you will see some old European Fire Trucks there, including some of US manfacture, I believe if I recall correctly. John, Excellent job to dig these up. Maybe we should start a thread of museums with someone writing a little summary of current collections. I wonder how that could be organized? That way anyone traveling in the US, or outside the US could access that. The special emphasis would be on Buicks. We could even include listing some of the major classic and antique car dealers, so they could be accessed to allow someone to stp by whever they may be traveling in an area for other reasons (I can't imagine that there are many other things of importance besides Buicks!!!) John
  10. Roberta, I guess no news is not necesarily good news in this case. I assume the car is still missing, and I thought it good to bring this back to the top. John
  11. Short notice, but I think you do access the forum with a lap-top. For Amsterdam, we have several in the Netherlands on the forum from time-to-time, so you might hear from them. I think there is an auto museum in Utrecht, after you get through Dutch Masters (you have to se the paintings if you have time). There are probably others and you might google to find them. A lot of small DAF cars around there. For India, I have never been, but there are a bunch of the three wheel cars/bikes still rolling in some parts. Hope you have a wonderful trip and try to post some pictures when you can, if you see anything interesting. John
  12. Well, the body shape changed a bit between '32 and '34, but I have a set of smooth '32 57 sedan (there was no '40 series that year, so 50 series was the smallest). Let me ask here and I will check elsewhere to see if they might fit. Do you have the sidemount hardware also. Where are you located? John I just checked, '32s will not work unles you are looking for a different appearence for a "rod". The '34 has the metal down the side rather then the open on the '32s, so my idea probably will not help. John
  13. It seems like "attachments" did not get attached. John
  14. To all those above - thanks for this info. I bought a can of a major provider's red for my '68 Riv engine. It is just dull compared to what I am led to be original color on the engine, but I painted with a brush from a can which I thought I had mixed well. It also peels and discolors with heat. I guess I am going to try some masking and a spray can to see if that is better. Regarding the heat, someone told me to paint the first coat with heat resistant aluminum header paint first followed by the red, and that seems to hold better. John
  15. Jan, I am busy pulling some parts of to take to Hershey to sell, as Friday it will be raining so shortens my day. I have not looked at the dash yet, but will hope to get to that tomorrow; however, I am not optomistic that I will have the parts to help you. I know of another car with a lot of spare parts. If a dealer I know aquires that one, there should be a bunch of parts. I will let you know next week and also check around at the Hershey flea market this week and see if I find one for you. John
  16. Welcome to the forum. This year cars are not in my area of experience, but I am sure others on the forum will be able to better advise you. If you do not hear from others more knowledgable, I will try to research and suggest some readings that may help. I see that in the Buick Club of America has some members in Brasil and Argentins, but I think most have the older '30s and '40s cars. There are some old threads on this forum that talk about the cars you are favoring. John
  17. Let me add my two cents. I do not think you can critize the "BCA", the National Organization for what a occurs if a local chapter, as they do for example where the Minuteman Chapter (and I do not speak for them) helps organize an event with other GM cars at a GM dealer. This does put like cars of each manufacturer in the same class (as you noted Reatta in class with Feiro). I see nothing wrong with that when the major GM dealer is paying for the trophies. At Nationals, and even our local Yankee Chapter meets (and probably many others), there is a separate class for Reatta. Could I ask a question, if you were at a regular car show, classes can very quite a bit. With my '32, at time I have competed with cars from 1903 at some up to 1942. In others, the cars may be only prewar-GM. I do not think BCA can, or should, try to influence any non-BCA events in setting classes. I do encourage that you dial into the Reatta group pages of the BCA forum for more expertise in this. I think they would agree, there should be no assumption that the BCA is slighting the Reatta. John
  18. Fr. Mike, Seeing your post reminded me we have not been in contact for awhile. I think I mentioned I found a hulk of a '32 75 I took apart for parts. Have now just got it stripped and the frame hacked into pieces, so I can get me gagarge space back in time for winter and pass off some parts at Hershey this week. If I can gather up some money, I hope to buy a trunk so you message got me thge site someone else mentioned to me and I have not checked before, so thanks for that. It seems the originator of this thread has not posted any later messages as I wanted to see if he was interested in selling the trunk. But no response thus far. Thanks again for the tip, John
  19. Bill, Glad to see you are back home and safe and sound. I do not recall seeing anything in the prior messages (just scanned them) - what did you do with your cars?. True they are just that -cars, and certainly not a priority when family safety comes first, but it must be difficult to leave these cars behiend. John
  20. Being new to this forum, you might not be aware that the BCA National in 2006 will be in Rochester, MN. Check out that info elsewhere in this forum. John
  21. Hi, From what I can tell, this might have been on a Buick, or some other car (as a lot of them had been interchanged, over time). It appears that this one is in good (no serious dents) but "quite used" condition. Is it possible for you to post some pictures, or e-mail me directly at j.scheib@comcast.net. I would like to see the inside, the other side and possible the bottom that shows how the trunck was attached to the rack, and how it opens. It also appears there is some damage to the latch/lock. Are you looking to just find the value or sell this trunk? I would be interested in purchase. Where are you located? John
  22. And you might mention, it was driven across MA anmd NY, not trailered. And it is an even better sight cruising along the road. John
  23. Roberta, Thanks for those photos. You folks sure had a good day for a meet, and quite a gathering of Buicks. Of course, my attention was drawn to the "plain" '32 Sedan in the museum. It is sure keeping some good company along with some quite unusual cars. I wish they had brought that out to Flint in 2003 (which should have been a short trip). I would have loved to see it, especially next to mine. Can you let me know how I could get more info on that car. I think it is a 60 Series sedan, while mine is the smaller 50 series. John
  24. The politicians in CT are rumbling about investigating gas gouging by the major oil companies and wholesales. I am no big fan of the oil companies, but I wonder how they think the oil companies are going to pay for platform repairs in the Gulf. It will be interesting how this will play out. However, I do know something about insurance. While it will not get the headlines of the oil prices, wait to you see your next insurance bill. This is going to have quite an impact on future rates. John
