Did you make sure the groove the gasket sits in was completely clean and did you put a film of oil on the new gasket plus install the gasket in the groove before installing the canister?

Imagine how cool it would be to have a wall of nailheads behind you! That long snout on the water pump makes this a 59/60?

2023 BCA National Meet in Spokane WA.
JohnD1956 replied to Jack Welch's topic in Buick Club of America News
Past Meets have had a car cleaning station. Often hoses, nozzles and buckets provided. Sometimes they are lightly equipped with soap and washer cloths. I always pack a bucket of my own supplies, especially whitewall cleaner. -
Could be! And as a bonus I met a guy who solved my mid speed range vibration that I never figured out. Turns out it was resonance from the hood bumpers failing to contact the front outer corners of the hood. I have that with a temporary fix at this point. I always thought it was a mechanical thing. It sure feels different now.

Wow! Thats really shocking. I would think that had to be grinding and screaching like mad! -
The Super ran great on the 700 mile round trip to Morgantown. A few adjustments had to be made when I got home. Had to turn the Bowden cable sheath at the wiper motor to clear the coordinator on the wiper motor. Had to lubricate the gas pedal linkage at the firewall passage, and taking @old-tanks advice I swapped out the gas filter and its spring clamps for a new filter with screw clamps. So it is on the docket for Spokane. 🤞

With no similar experience here I think your explanation of the process is logical. And since you have airflow it appears your assessment that the valve is sticking is correct. I dont see how that valve is removable from the bracket for any service. And I dont see any mechanical means for sensing the level of the car. As such, if that valve cannot be serviced I suspect you have to get a new one. And before I did that I might try some type of lubricant soak by introducing some 50/50 trans fluid acetone mix through 1 and 5 and then let it sit for a week or more. Is there a mechanical link to determine the level? That may need some attention too. Good luck -
Sweet car Ben! Looks great in that color!

The fan motor is mounted to the HVAC box under the hood but way out to the right side. So far out it is under the passenger side front fender. Not sure about 68 but for 69 the factory manual says to remove the pass side inner fender well to access the fan motor. I have heard of people cutting a suitable sized access hole in that same inner fender. But it seems to me that for the trouble cutting a hole that size, and then patching it up, would cause I'd be inclined to drop the inner fender entirely. You can also remove the passenger side front fender if you want but that really takes a lot of work. Remove or secure open hood, remove or at least lower the front bumper and headlight door to get hidden bolts. Not an easy prospect in either case. Does your fan work at all? If so perhaps you just need a new rheostat which is located on the HVAC box cover in an accessible place next to the a/c expansion valve.

1964 Skylark Steering Wheel Reinstallation Issue

Looks to me like there was a washer under the nut holding the wheel on, and maybe that washer was placed on the steering shaft before the wheel? -

Home tonight. The trip today took a long time as I was stopping a few times for rest breaks. So glad I got the wiper motor rebuilt. Needed them quite a bit on this leg. Discovered I have the Bowden cable hitting the motors on-off switch with enough pressure as to stop the motor from turning off. Made a field adjustment but will have to find a better solution. Also finding my accelerator has a sticky point unless I massage the pedal to one side while stepping on it. Will have to go after that right away. Discovered I really miss power windows too, 🤔 haha...! Anyway, 708 miles, and overall MPG of 16.1. Annie felt very strong on the run, and it was a fun time at the Meet. -

It was Keith. It felt good to get the Super out for some real mileage. -

Thanks to @dibarlaw for leading a 81 mile tour thru the PA country side yesterday. We went to the 100 year old pagoda lookout for a view of the valley, then Then to a candy factory and shop, then to a the Boyertown museum of Historic Vehicles, a teriffic car museum with a fantastic preservation of a carriage factory, all of which were very interesting. We also got pictures in a wooden bridge and stopped for lunch at a great pizza shop before taking a route guaranteed to make us all lost if we got separated. Did about 81 miles for the 6 hour tour. Annie kept up with Larrys car and the others with no complaints. A great trip for which I took more pictures that I will need to process before I can post. Thanks again Larry and John Scheib for the accomodations. -

Still undecided which car I should take. Always wanted to take this trip in the Super, but its kinda crazy to not take the Electra. At any rate I am looking forward to the adventure. -

263 miles to Morgantown PA yesterday. And odd gas milage results. On the leg with 182 miles we were traveling roughly 55mph on all highways. The Super got 15 mpg. On the 2nd leg for 82 miles we had maybe 1/3 rural roads through some small tow with traffic and it only got 10 mpg. I probably did not completely fill the tank at the first stop. Otherwise I was pleased with the cars performance. Had dinner tonight at the Shady Maple Smorgasborg. A great visit with @parkertom and @Buick Regal GS and many others. -
I mistakenly put the 25K asking price. The asking price is 27K. And I have corrected the initial post today.

I can't reconcile the difference in prices. But the latest information indicates the seller is asking $27,000. Be sure to ask when calling for information.
