  1. I showed the photo to James Neal while visiting Lansing about a week ago. He said that the Reo is 1905. I think the photo may well be taken round 1940´s judging the clothing people are wearing. So this Reo may still be rpund somewhere. Perhaps there is somebody in this area of Iowa who can recall something. Many odd things can be found in this world if you look from right place and right time. Juha Turku, Finland It sure has been dark day today - no sunlight - kaamos
  2. Hi! Hope to get the back side of the photo enclosed, too. Juha
  3. Hi! For some reason I missed the enclosed photos. I try once more. Juha
  4. Hi! I bought this Reo photo from ebay. On the back it says that the car in the photo is the 3rd Reo ever built and that the Reo is owned by Nick Pearson of Ellsworth Iowa. Photo was sent to some place by Dr. Salloway in 1946. Is this Reo still running and who might own it today. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  5. Hi! Sorry for misspelling. Letters r and t are so close in your keyboard. It is nice that you all understood what I was talking about. Now I wonder what C1 could mean. Did they have different classes of vehicles? Why was this tiny Reo classed C1? Or could it mean some area of Indiana where the Reo had her driver living. I own two Reo Model G from 1926 but would like to have a Reo like this also in my garage. Thanks for your help so far! It is great to talk with fellow enthusiasts from all over the world. Juha
  6. Hi! I bought this early reo photo from ebay. When I scanned the photo I noticed that the has interesting register plate. I believe the figures are C1-641 IND. Could this Reo have been registeres in Indiana. What might the other letters and numbers stand for? Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  7. Hi! There is something strange in that photo/car to be Reo. To me the shape of the radiator. cowl and hud don´t seem like Reo. Enclosed are two photos. One is Reo from early teens and the othe is mid teens. I have been collecting postcards and photos relaated to Reo history. If you have such photos or cards I would like to get a copy. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  8. Hi! It is for Reo Wolverine. This model was in production years 1927 and 1928. The car was equipped with Continental 6-cylinder engine. So the hub cap is good spare for Wolverine owners. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  9. I think the truck was from late 1920´s since it was equipped with Continental engine. In early 1920´s Reo had factory own engine; 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder T6 engine. Juha Turku, Finland
  10. A friend of mine is restoring a Pontiac from 1938. He would like to know what kind of and how many engine mounts his car should have. Is it so that gear box is without any mounts? Greetings Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  11. Could it be so that engines that went on buses were coded with W. The engine looks the same but the serial no. has different letter. I have two Reos from 1926. They both are Model Gs. One is 4D Sedan and the other is tn truck. Then I have one T6 engine which came from a bus and if I can remember right the bus engine has code W. So maybe the car engine was changed sometimes during the years. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  12. It is sometimes good to go through your piles of paper. You might find something you didn´t remember you have. When you find that piece of paper you realise that this is a missing piece from that buzzle. Enclosed is poor xerocopy of a photo which is in a photo archive in Helsinki. I took the copy while going through their photos of early automobiles. I just found the photo and it struck my mind that this is the same car which I have been trying to identify on this topic. The car is English made Starling. It was owned by Mr. Yrjö Nuotio. The Starling was bought as a used car in 1914. The actual make of the year must be something 1903-1906 or so. Juha Kaitanen Turku
  13. I was lucky to get in contact with Bert Babick in California. He owns a same Model of Detroiter shown in the photo. So this mystery car was Detroiter 1914 Model B Touring. Thank you very much for your help once again. Juha Turku, Finland

  15. Here is a photo showing three fine automobiles. I was told that the cars were owned by a company called "Kymi". I thought I have identified two of them but now I have followed your talk about NAG and Stoewer and started to wonder again. The first car in the left I thought is Stoewer. The second is Steyr or Benz. The car in the very right is still unknown to me. Hope to hear your opinios once again. Juha Turku
  16. The photo showing smaller car, possible Lion-Peugeot, is taken in Loimaa area. Very few cars were made in Finland. In Loimaa area there was a man called Frans Heikkilä. He owned a plant that made agricultural machines. He also made a car for himself. Enclosed is a photo of his car. Although this car looks a lot like the "Lion-Peugeot" it is not the same auto. I still need to gather more information about the smaller car. Juha Turku, Finland
  17. In 1926 there was actually one Detroiter in Turku area. This you can read from a statistics which was publiced in a local newspaper. This can well be the car in the photo. I don´t have the original photo but I try to get some close up copies of the photo. Juha Turku, Finland
  18. Hi! I quess these makes of cars seem to be quite unusual because you people are so quiet. Hope to hear from you still Juha
  19. Hi! I own a Reo Model G 4D Sedan from 1926. I would like to instal a Purlator oil filter to keep engine clean. Oil pump is piston type and the oil runs through copper pipes to the top of the engine - intake valves, cam shaft and main bearings. Does the filter effect in any way the lubrication of the engine? Hope to hear your opinions. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  20. Hi! Enclosed is two photos of early automobiles of which I have no idea of make or model. Hope you can advice me as you have done so many times earlier. These cars are from Salo area. This town is about 30 km from Turku. Salo is the place where they started to manufacture Nokia phones in the first place. We are having summer weather here up in the north! Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  21. Hi! There is one Beacon from 1934 here in Finland. The car is owned by a memeber of our club. His name is Sem Jaffet Myntt and the car is in Loimaa. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  22. Hi! I own two Reos from 1926. Then I have among other things two North-East generators with intact distributor. One is type 6089L8 and the other is 3929L8. Outside look is almost identical. What is difference between these two generators? Were they both istalled to Reos? Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  23. Hi! Yes I think it is the same company. There is a story of automobile manufacturing on the following www-pages "http://www.aga.com/web/web2000/com/wppcom.nsf/pages/History_AGACar". And story about stove making on the following web-pages "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGA_cooker". This same car was assembled in Sweden under name Thulin". Thulin cars have a yearly meeting and if I remember right there has been three Thulin car every year. Stockholm technical museum has one Thulin in their collection, too. Juha Turku Finland
  24. Enclosed is a photo of a AGA automobile from 1922. AGA is more famous about its gas products (oxygen, acetylene etc) but the company also made some automobiles. This car was restored by Voitto Rantanen, a founder member of out local veteran car club. This Aga is now awned by Finnish Aga Co. and car is parked in the lobby of head office of the company in Helsinki. Near the left under corner of the front door you can see a round badge. H Koch stand for Hans Koch a local Aga dealer in Helsinki Finland. Greetings from Turku, Finland Juha Kaitanen
  25. Hi! This photo was publiced in a local classic car magazine called "Klassikko". They were asking after the make of the car. When I saw the small photo I thought the car was a Steyr from 1922 or so. When I got a bigger version of the photo from the magazine I started to think the car is rebodies Model T Ford. Some of the body parts look a lot like Steyr. Hope to hear your comments. Juha Turku
