  1. Thank you for your kind replies. The man used to own two Model Ts and one Dodge. On the back of this photo he wrote that this is the car he almost killed himself. I guess Studebaker was quite powerfull after Fords. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  2. This photo was taken December 1929 in Gloucester, Mass. On the back side of the photo is written that the ship behind the car is called Illyria and it is owed by millionare Grane. Mr. Hollander sailed with this ship round the world. Also the car seem quite fancy and powerfull. Could i be Jordan? Any information about the ship and the car is greatly appreciated. The man standing in front of the car is Finnish immigrant who lived in Massachusetts. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland [h=1][/h]
  3. Hi! A photo like this was sent to me by local folks. They are making a history book and wanted to know the make, model ja year of make of the car. I have identified the car as Chevrolet Series K Superior Touring from 1925. Now I would like o hear from more experienced enhusiasts that I did right conclusions. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  4. Terve! I found the letter I got from Stephens enthusiast in Freeport IL. The contact is quite aged so it may not be possible to reach him any more. I also have some color photos of different models which I also got from Mr. Farnsworth. When I find them I shall send them you. I also have copies of sales leaflets. You can have them if you feel you may need them. Let me know your snail address and I post them to you. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  5. According to archives there used to be two Stephens cars here in Finland. In some point of its history one was in Rovaniemi. It was told that during the WWII Germans took the chassis of the car to carry equipment. The remains of body were collected by Esko Rahkonen (living in Lahti, Finland), a Finnish singer whose hobby was veteran cars. Esko collected all veteran car parts he could get hold on. He died few years ago and I am afraid most of the loose auto parts were taken to scrap yard. I used to write with somebody about 15 years ago who kept a Stephens registry. I have to go through my papers to find contact information. He sent me some photos of different models of Stephens still existing. I guess this registry is not active any more. 6. There are remains of one Reo Royale from 1931 which used to have a Murray body. I guess this was called Limousine. The car was bought by the state of Finland to be used by prime minister as his official vehicle. The body of the Reo still remains. Now I wonder what kond of work Murray Body Co. did to the body. Did they just take a standar 4D Sedan from production line and just added some metal to the frame and the body - in the middle of the car. Rest of the car looks like standard sedan. Any information about the changes made on the body is greatly appreciated. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  7. There may be a change that the friend of mine is getting a part car so that he can start rebuilding the Reo Royale Limousine by Murray. Can anybody tell us which kind of body changes the Murray Body Co did. Did they take a standard sedan from Reo factory and just made the car longer? I guess the chassis is the same that they used on all Royale models in 1931. Any information about the Royale body modifications are greatly appreciated. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  8. Thank you so much for your great help. Again this forum shows its power to share information and experience. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  9. When we bought these two frames the seller told as that they are from Chevrolet. We bought them for Chevy truck from 1928. The frames are not from Chevy. One friend of mine is restoring a Chrysler from 1927. He is missing the frame. I sended photos os the frame to him. He told me that they are not from Chrysler. His guess was that they could be from Studebaker. Now my guestion is: Are these from Studebaker? I enclose some photos. Hope someone can clearify this mystery. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  10. This Olds was bought as a restoration project from the US. So it should not be a export model. There is actually valve cover. Oiling of the valve mechanims happens through holes in the cover. The owner of the Model 43A thinks it is easier to oil valves if the cover is not on. If driving on dusty roads he thinks the cover should be in its place. Juha Kaitanen Turku
  11. A friend of mine was very pleased with the pages from the parts book. Thank you so much for your help. I enclose some photos of his Olds. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  12. The car is Model 43 with 4-cylinder engine. I guess your Model 47 is with 6 or 8 sylinder engine. The owner of this Model 43 thinks the clutch is the same on both Models. Juha
  13. My email address is: juhakai@wakkanet.fi Thank you so much for your help. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  14. Thank you for your efforts so far. I shall wait for you photo. Is it normal that the friction surfaces are loose - not clued or riveted on the clutch plate? I myself own a Reo Model G from 1926. The car has dry, multidisk clutch where the friction surfaces are riveted on the clutch disks. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  15. Friend of mine is overhauling his Oldsmobile from 1921. Now he is wondering the clutch. There is one clutch plate and two loose friction surfaces. Does the clutch on the photo look like an original clutch? A photo or drawing of the clutch would be of great help. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  16. Hi! Here are my two Reo Model Gs from 1926. One is 4D Sedan and the other is 2 tn truck. The passenger car I bought from a car museum in TX. The truck was originally imported to Finland and was used in a quarry to carry blocks of rock. The truck has been under restoration for quite many years - too many years. There is still quite a lot to work althought lot has been done. The passenger Reo is in running order and registered as museum vehicle. The first truck photo show the condition as found. The second truck photo show what the Reo looked when new here in Finland. Joyfull oldcar year 2013 to you´ll Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  17. Hi! I wish all Reo fans Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013. Enclosed are few photos of my Model G from 1926. I love to drive the Reo in snow! Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  18. Hi! Season greeting also from arcticum - Turku Finland. Winter driving with old cars are a lot of fun. Parts are best when they are all together making a driveble/rideble car. Hope year 2013 is good for us all! Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  19. Hi! In Finland we have saying better late than never. The owner of that Royale remains has not started to rebuild the Reo. There is too little left of the original car - actually only the body. The chassis shown on the photo is not from Reo. So basicly you need a complete Reo Royale to rebuild this unic individual. Season greeting from Turku, Finland Juha Kaitanen
  20. Hi! While reading digital Finnish newspapers from 1900 I noticed a short article whch tell that a Swedish engineer living in Boston area, Mr. Libert Reenstiern has invented a new type of automobile. The car was equipped with 2,5 hp engine but the other technics used on the vehicle sounded quite odd. It was told that they planned to testdrive the car in Boston. Also they told that Mr. Vanderbilt was very interested in new type of automobile. Now I wonder if there is anybody who could tell me more about this interesting innovation or Mr. Reenstiern. Season greetings Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  21. Hi! A friend of mine owns a Essex Super Six from 1929. The car is equipped with 20" rims. What would be a proper size of rim tool (Pacific etc) for this Essex? I have noticed that they made different model of these rim tools - like balloon 6. Any hepl is greatly appreciated. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  22. Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. There was horns like that for sale on ebay but I came second. I keep watching in the future for them. I personally own a Reo Model G from 1926. My car has a electric North-East horn. Best wishes from Turku, Finland Juha Kaitanen
  23. Hi Our local veteran car club owns a Model T from 1914. I am trying to find a original bulb horn for this early Ford. Now I am wondering what type of horn I should look for. There is a round hole on wooden firewall. But it seems like if the horn bracket would have have been inside the body - there are two skrew holes on body side of the firewall. Any information is greatly appreciated. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  24. Hi! I own tqo Reo Model Gs from 1926. One is 4D Sedan and the other is 2tn Heavy Duty Speed Wagon. I bought my sedan from Texas and drove it two summers here in Finland. After that I found out that I needed to do major overhaul to the engine. Thanks to Egge Motor I got a new set of pistons. The Reo engine was the very first engine I ever disassembled to assembled. I was lucky to have a friend who new what to do and how to do - so I learned a lot. Now I think I can continue my practise with the truck engine. Also it need major overhaul with new set of pistons and some valve work. I enclose few photos of my project. Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
