  1. Awfully quite here now. Could this be Opel or some other European made big car? Did they make cars with gear shift and hand brake lever out of body in US? I have tried Google but haven´t found any glue from there either. How about Chevy? Have I dated it right? Juha Turku, Finland
  2. I scanned just the big limousine so that the details are easier to see. As you can see hand brake and gear shift are outside the body. Also you can see that steering is on right side. There is also hend orerated horn. I also noticed that the driver is getting a bit tired to wait to photo been taken of genteleman riding on the limousine. On Chevi the register plate is T-806. Teh register plates in Turku area started with letter T. In Helsinki area they used letter A. Juha Turku
  3. Here is another photo from Turku Finland. Actually the photo has been taken in the center of Kupittaa park. The car in the left is Chevrolet from 1920´s but the car on the right seems to be bigger and more expensive automobile. Any ideas of the make and model of this fine automobile. Juha Turku
  4. Thank you so much. I knew I can trust on you. Thank you for fast reply! Juha Turku, Finland
  5. Here you can see "just married" couple riding on a car which I think is US made Overland from early 1920´s. Since you have been such a great help I would like to hear again your opinions mainly on the make and model of the car. But other opinions are heard, too. Juha Turku, Finland
  6. Nowadays we are good friend with Russia. People from St: Petersburg area come to Finland to spend their holidays in Finland. Some have bought summer cottages from Finnish lake area. Some bring their expensive cars to Finland to get them service here. We do not have hard feelings any more. Juha Finland
  7. Russians did not invade Finland because we fought them back. Russian army tried to take over Finland because Hitler and Stalin made a agreement that Germany could invade Baltic states - which they did - and Russia could take over Finland - which it could not. Russian army was about ten times bigger than Finnish army and quite well equipped but they were not so motivated to fight. We had our home land to to protect. We were lucky and were never invated by our Eastern friend. Juha Turku Finland
  8. Hi! I don´t think this is true mystery photo because I am pretty sure I know this car. It is Chevrolet 4D Sedan from 1938. Originally this car was most propably a private car but during the WW2 it was taken to use of our army. Cars were painted white so it was not so easy to Russian solders to see it. Also head light were protected to make it more difficult for airplains to see cars. The register plate is SA 2395. SA stands for Suomen Armeja=Finnish Army. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  9. Most trucks from that era were US or German made. We had one of the bloodiest civil wars in Europe in 1918. There were two sides; white and red. German army came to help the white goverment which was headed by Mannerheim. The army brought with them German trucks. These trucks were used by our army or sold to civilians later on. In 1926 there was little over 40 different makes of trucks in registery in Turku area. Did they make truck with steering on the right side of the chassis in US during 1910´s or early 1920´s? This truck was in use in Loimaa area. I can try to ask if any have any clue of the make of the truck. Juha Kaitanen Turku Finland
  10. Hi! For a change I enclose a old photo of a truck. As you see this is pre Greyhound etc. time. If there was a truck in a area it was used to carry folks to summer festivals etc. At the moment I don´t have any idea of the make, model or make of the year of this solid rubber tire truck. I tried Kissel, Pierce Arrow, N.A.G., MAN with no luck. Any information or glue is greatly appreciiated. Juha Turku, Finland
  11. Thank you for good replies. Do any of you who used to one such a Orient have a photo of your car? It would be nice to have a photo of one or two survivor. Thank you for good help once again. Juha Kaitanen Turku Finland
  12. Hi! Hope you are not getting tired me putting up these mystery auto photos from distant Finland. I find this forum very educative and enjoyable to me. And I save a lot of time asking from folks more familiar with automotive history. Anyway - here is a photo of a car which I think is a Star Rear Enterance Tonneau round 1904. One man here said it is ultra rare French made Regal. I find this hard to believe. Hope again here your opinios on this issue.
  13. Hi! Some say that this Orient Buckboard has later been modified but to me the steering column and rear seat seem to fit so well to the rest of the body that I do not think some blacksmith has customised this car. Hope to hear more comments from you. Juha Turku
  14. Hi! How about East Germany like AWZ P70 "Zwickau". There is some similarity on the body to this tiny 2-stroke engine car. Could it be a bit customised? Juha Turku, Finland
  15. Hi! Here are two more photos of High Wheelers in Finland. The almost fully restored is the one in the earlier photo from Oulu area. The second photo show just a body found from a barn in Eastern Finland. Hope you find these photos interesting. Juha Turku, Finland
  16. Hi! Some International High Wheelers found their way to Finland, too. It is not totally US breed as one could think. Here is a photo of IHC from 1910/11. The car is driven in Oulu area. There are few extra gasoline containes because they are out of town and far from nearest filling station. This IHC is actually restored and I later on add some photos of it on this handsome forum. Juha Turku, Finland
  17. Hi! Thank you very much again for good and professional help in identifying this nice early automobile. I have corrected information to the archive which owns the original photo. Could it be so that electric lights were optinal or the buyer could choose which lighting equipment he would prefer. It may be so that carbide lights were conseded more reliable at the time than more model electric light. It may have been difficult to find light bulbs etc. Juha Turku, Finland
  18. Hi! Here is another antique automobile photo. This was publiced on a local veteran car magazine - called "Mobilisti". They told that this is a car locally manufactured in Sortavala - this used to be a Finnish town in Carelia, a area that we were forced to give Russia after WW2. My believe is that this is a International High Wheeler from round 1910. Again would like to hear support my idea or then say what is the true make and model of the car. You´ll have been of great help so far. Juha Kaitanen Turku
  19. Hei! I scanned this photo from a booklet. They told that the car is from 1907. I think this is not true. I would image that this is a Studebaker from 1913. Am I right? Tell me who got it right. Best wishes Juha Turku, Finland
  20. Hi! This automobile was once driven and riden in Jyväskylä in Central Finland. The car looks very much like Orient but there are some features that make you think twice; steering column, shape of fenders, extra rear seat etc. Would like to hear your comments on this photo. The photo is from the era driving and riding was lot of fun. Happy year 2010 to you´ll Juha Kaitanen Turku Finland Ps. It is minus 7 but fea days ago it was minus 21 and a lot of snow.
  21. Hi! Enclosed is a photo of a GB bus from late 1920´s - at least I think so. The bus was used here in Turku, Finland. The body is propably locally manufactured. Would like to hear your opinion about the make, model and make of year of the nice GB bus. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku, Finland
  22. Hi! Thank you for your quick reply. I am collecting antique car/truck photos to our club web pages. This is why I try to get a second opinion of some photos which I am not sure. Would these trucks be 1tn trucks? What model they are? Did they use the chassis as passenger cars? Best wishes Juha Kaitanen Turku Finland
  23. Hi! Enclosed are two photos of Chevy trucks which I believe are from mid 1920´ s. Would like to hear your opinion. On the other photo you can see also a Bethlehem truck behind Chevy. Best wishes Juha Kaitanen
  24. Hi! It would be very nice if you could check the measurements for me. Thanks for your help in advance Juha Turku, Finland
  25. Enclosed I send you a two photos which show three Buicks from 1920´s. The cars were used as taxi caps here in Turku, Finland. Would like to here your opinion about the year of make and model since I think you are more into this than I. Best wishes Juha
