  1. Steve is the Chummy the same as a Cloverleaf body? The Cloverleaf was a three seater, when viewed from above the interior had the shape of a 3 leaf clover.
  2. GREAT Photo! Welcome to the Forum. The car is a rope drive Holsman, could be 1902-1910. The drive rope was a special chain type cable that was wrapped in rope and drove both rear wheels. The car was manufactured in Chicago.
  3. There are two guys that are at a lot of meets I attend one is blind. I always make a point of stopping and having a chat with them, makes for a more enjoyable meet for everyone.
  4. I remember going into NYC with my Dad around 1963 for a chauffeur uniform fitting. One of the things we came home with was a Lap Robe for the 1961 Cadillac he drove.
  5. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> The Museum is in business to celebrate and display the cars that club members cherish and collect. It isn't a personal ego trip or pet hobby for a mega-buck collector! Pat Foltz, Executive Director AACA Museum In Association with the Smithsonian Institution </div></div> That confirms my opinion of the mindset running the AACA Museum. Every great automobile collection that I've seen was started by a man with a passion for the automobiles, and he used his own funds to amass the collection. I've had the pleasure of meeting three of the owners of the best collections this counrty ever produced, none of them were on an ego trip, and they sure didn't play any reverse class envy games. They were car guys. Bob Swanson
  6. The Studebaker built Rockne of 1932-33 is the easy one.
  7. "RestoMod" was the new word for 2005, what is the new Webster addition for 2006?
  8. FREE drinks for every time Alain DeCadenet finds the hidden gas cap on 1950s GM products!
  9. Easy way out it to photograph each part and list it on eBay. It's found money that the market will set the value on.
  10. LOCATION? If you're in Western Canada not too many people on the East Coast of the USA will care what you have.
  11. A photo would help us get a better idea of the condition of the car. Sounds like it would be best left as a restoration project. Personally I think it is hard to make a good looking rod out of a Dodge unless yoy have a roadster or front half of a touring. Doug should be along with an opinion on Dodge rats.
  12. That Black plate with the white letters looks like it would be right at home on a Pre 1916 vehicle, you know ANTIQUE when people new the ture definition of the word. Belly ache all you guys want the 25 year old and it missed the crusher and becomes an "antique" mindset will kill your ability to enjoy what your founding car collecting friends worked hard for.
  13. Thanks Bill, This thread had 109 viewers up till the time of your post,I don't know what that is a sign of. That feature in the current issue of AutoAficionado on the Williamson Bugatti collection sure brought back some great memories, I worked on every one of those cars except the polished aluminum bodied T51.
  14. The Franklin G was a 18HP four cylinder car on a 90 1/2 inch wheel base chassis, the D was a 28HP 4 cylinder on a 105 wheel base in 1910. Their big brother was the model H with 6 cylinders on a 127 in wheel base chassis.
  15. I was looking for 1937 Harley Davidson 45 cubic inch parts when I joined. I think others picked a name that relates to their field of interest, just like a car show, you look around for the vehicles you like and owners with like interests.
  16. This happened in Little Rock, Arkansas need anyone say more?
  17. GREAT photo! I agree with Chris it is a barrel hood Franklin, and those kids were racing it! Note that the windsheild has the top section folded down behind the lower section for less wind resistance. Welcome to the AACA Forum, I can't get over the number of high quality photos we have had from first time posters since this new feature opened.
  18. The only good thing that came out of that basement hideout was the money for the Library Roof and the Paint for the Headquarters Lobby. I left there months ago Pure Left Wing BS Rant Room, lots of venom, lots of unhappy people. Looks like the Forum is making some changes for the better with the new section up top, and there are lots of new first time posters. If you're taking a poll I'd vote to close the basement. If you are new to the Forum you didn't miss a thing.
  19. I sure hope everyone reading this Forum reads AutoAficionado! I bought a copy of the last issue at Barnes & Noble last month and thought is was one of the best "Magazines" out there. I just bought the current issue and I'm convinced I need to subscribe!FINALLY there is a restorers publication that is equal to The Rodders Journal.
  20. Brad, I agree "Old JB" sure did have things figured out, that is the one collection on top my MUST SEE list. It is also about the only time anyone will catch me in a tie and jacket...........but I'm sure it is worth the discomfort.
  21. Thanks Herb! I got an email last night from nearhoclatetown IDing the pedals as 1912-15 Henderson. With all the Henderson bits on the car I'm starting to wonder if a dealeship built it. I'll have it at Oley in the spring on new wheels & Coker tires!
  22. I think that 3 Million was well spent, the guy knew exactly what he was doing. He owns The Discovery Channel, not that he actualy had to work to come up with the money, and it put his collection on the map. Untill the end of time (or the cars sale)it will be the collection with "The 3 Million Dollar Barrett-Jackson car". Ask yourself what the AACA Palace on the Hill is noted for.
  23. There was a 4 cylinder engine built by Ford of Germany that is based on the B, it came from the factory with a cast aluminum oil pan. If anyone has one of these aluminum pans for sale please let me know.
  24. Welcome to the Forum. Are you just looking for different designs or planning to build something based on them? Early motorcycle engine powered midget race cars used chain drive as well, any interest in them?
