  1. When I saw that 6 cylinder experimental T engine it was in a cobbled up T chassis. I'm sure it was something the Museum people did years ago, had parts from at least 12 different years of T production. After all these years i'm sure someone has built a nice speedster out of it. If it shows up at Scottsdale Az. I'm sure history will show that it has won INDY at least 2 times, was a honeymoon car for a few Hollywood types and worth more than the last Hemi Cuda they floggd.
  2. Pat, Your view of HPOF is what it should be, 1st Meet you enter the vehicle and get "Certified", from then on you park the vehicle in the proper class. You can't tell me two guys with HPOF cars one a 1907 Cadillac and you pick a 35 year garage queen have anything in common. The cars need to be on the show field with others from there eras. The guy restoring another '07 Caddy sure isn't going to wade through a sea of 1950's cars in hopes of finding that original twin to his.

  4. At least one of these X engines survived. I saw it through the windows of one of the closed buildings in Greenfield village many years ago along with several other engines. Thought it was interesting that such a unique engine was just being stored and not displayed. A few years later there was a write up on the engine in a magazine (maybe Special Interest Auto) on the long lost engines that were discovered. Wonder how many other artifacts of our past are lost in plain sight. I think it was in the late 1970's that one or two of the X engines were sold at a housecleaning action at the Ford collection, along with a lot of neat Ford stuff. I remember seeing a 6 cylinder equiped Model T in the Hershey Swap Meet the next year. The engine looked just like a stock T with an extra two cylinders.
  5. Rawja, Thanks for your post it has renewed my Audi TT ownership hopes that Matt crushed with his post. To me the only new car on the road today that turns my head is an Audi TT Coupe, but cost and social status prevent me from having one. Some day when the electrical systems die on a TT I may be able to afford one. At that time there is no differance parking it in the garage along side a good looking car from the 1930's that I can't wire either. Thanks for the inspiration.

My advice to the car owner if he sees you on a team is to unscrew the vin number plate and save another screwing.
  7. The upgrade of replacing the two pedals & two levers to the standard three pedals one lever on early 1909 Model T Fords comes to mind.

  9. JB, I agree with your observations. I have ZERO interest in seeing that all the numbers match on some Chevelle that arrived in an enclosed trailer. The Chevelle owner in most cases wouldn't know a 50HP Simplex if it ran over his detail kit. It is too late to correct things, the late models have won, just live with the memories of better times.

  13. Back in 1976 I bought a new Ford F-150 and towed my race car to Hershey and won my Senior Award. This was the last NEW vehicle I've bought. This year 2005 I was walking down the hallway in the Hershey Lodge and a fellow was carrying his newly won Senior. I asked him what he won with,...........a 1977 GMC pickup. The antique car hobby is about dead.

  19. Can you park a boat in your yard? If so get the bigest one you can fit in there cut the stern off and hinge it. Presto! Storage shed.
  20. That car would look totaly different with the correct wheels rims & tires. A good faux finish to match the body and that car is done!

  25. Dave, your the best at getting numbers on things. What does the Museum CEO and his/her staff haul in for ther "service" to AACA?
