I am trying to get permission from my homeowners association in Fredericksburg VA to build a 12x16 storage shed. The Association is very uncooperative. The main problem for them appears to be the location not being directly behind my home and the size. I am appealing to the board the second time in November, somehow they held the appeals session in October before the covenant committee meeting, how strange! Well this has been going on since June 2005 and they are not very responsive. Does anyone know of any VA State Law about these associations? Anyone have any ideas that have worked short of taking them to court? I have gone to the extent of making cardboard cutout of new screening plantings and a full size mockup of the front of the shed to show how I can screen the shed from view from the street, what we have to do for our hobby!
