  1. There is a car hauler that has a less fancy Pete with living quarters and room for one car in the back that runs coast to coast. Think he makes it to Hershey as well.
  2. My guess is that it's a Chevrolet, correct?
  3. I think 50 cars is a "Large Collection", but QUALITY is far more impressive to me. Fifty Mustangs and Corvetts are a lot easier to fill a polebarn with than 15-25 restored Classics or Brass Era cars. If you have one or more fulltime emploies maintaining the cars then it is a "Collection". I always enjoy finding these collections, and for the most part the owners are happy to show the cars but really wish to keep a low profile.
  4. THANK YOU Chris! That is a very nice scan you posted, I believe Rambler holds the distinction of being the first automobile equiped with a spare wheel and tire, something we all take for granted today. I hope you make more posts here on the AACA Forum to help promote the AACA Library. I know you have your own special section, but seeing stuff here is a big help IMO. Best wishes with the new job. Bob
  5. Note the folding steering column in the red Thomas photo that Roger posted! I'll like to see a closeup photo of that detail.
  6. Is the ALCO factory building still standing? How about other Rhode Island built car factories? A day tour in one of your cars with a history of then and now of auto related events Pre 1910. Wasn't it Mrs. Astor that housted the first ever Auto Show with flower decorated autos @1900? I've got an article in an old Scientific American, then again there is Google.
  7. 1903 Thomas Model 18 has a hood that matches, note the tapered length of side louvers. This closeup is of the car that was once in the Bill Harrah Collection.
  8. Just because the rear wheel housings appear to me modified is no reason to laugh, the rest looks very solid to a New Englander.
  9. Both our kids went to Hershey before their first birthdays, seeing yours last year brought back a lot of good memories. Our youngest just turned 23 yesterday.
  10. I see this as a race to the store, with the Stanley arriving first. Open the Blow Down valve, walk through the cloud of vapor, and say you'd be really steamed if you missed the sale.
  11. What were the asking prices on the pictured vehicles?
  12. Any records on the death toll caused by 1909 Model T Fords vs that thing?
  13. Scott, I agree that the AACA Forum is the main Forum and the one I check in to read, if there is sonething of interest. The "What is It" is another favorite. Once a topic is moved to the basement I never see or read it again. I find it interesting to read about a unique vehicle in the AACA Forum and would think it would appeal to first time readers as well. Once it is added to the Thrashwell 6 Forum only the 3 Thrashwell owners will be reading it. This is MY OPINON, and you can deside what that is worth.
  14. I agree Steve, I finally met Tom at Hershey after reading his posts here and on other websites. Nice guy who is having a good time with the hobby.
  15. eBay it if you want to maximize your profit.
  16. The Burn Center Show is a good one, but I've never been to it. The dress code deal is the main thing along with the cost of entry that keeps me viewing those shows on website coverage. They envited your car for its looks, so it must be a good one, if you are at home in jeans like I am, go but wouldn't buy some outfit that made me feel like a jerk for the day.
  17. I've got boxes old LP's that aren't worth the trouble to list on eBay. Is there any practical use for them?
  18. Not sure of the year, but it looks to be a Stanley CX Runabout. The driver is sitting in a panel sided and backed seat, the BX had a spindle style seat. The two passengers in front are using a fold open seat that allows what would look to be a "hood" to fold forward and become a footboard.
  19. That was a highlight in the hobby that newcomers will never get to see. Austie would pick cars out on tours or shows photograph them on an ancient camera designed for postcard photos. Back in 1961 Milton Bradley sold a box of some of his earliest postcards with cars 1896-1936 that had a nice history of the car on the back. As an 11 or 12 year old I quickly commited all that info to memory. I wonder how many post cards were produced by Austie, everyone he photographed was a truely great automobile.
  20. I've got boxes on NOS Victor and Firzgerald headgaskets, many are loose out of the carton. They all have part numbers. Is there a website that allows you to type in the part number and find the application for the gasket? If not is there someone that could look up the numbers in an old catalog?
  21. The one piece forged steering wheel spider is late teens early 1920's Model T Ford.
  22. Good luck! First Swap Meet for me on the East Coast is the AMCA Meet in Oley, Pa. How long a drive is it for you to San Diego? Lifetime goal of mine is to get to the LA Roadster Show and Swap Meet on Fathers Day weekend.
  23. Welcome to the Forum, great photos! I've seen headlights like these, I think they may be Chrysler items from around 1926.
  24. Our 1912 Ford Touring was restored in 1950 for the Glidden Tour, Still looked good at 20 feet when I bought it in 1983 for $8,500. All I've done is replace tires, bands, and add gas & oil. What will $8,500 get a someone with a ricer or 1976-1984 "antique"?
