  11. Hi Pete What a great find and a good story as well. I would leave the engine compartment alone unless it starts to rust from the moisture in the air, but in Texas this should not be a problem. Glad it found a great home with you. Congratulations. Steve

  13. Hi Marty We did speak about Karps and I sent it to him and he took a while but it came back done well. I thank you for the lead. I just sent him another one for my other Buick. As far as I have read the biggest issue was that the brake pedal is extremely hard once the engine dies since there is no more vacuum, hence the electric vacuum pump in 54 and the vacuum canister in 55 and newer. I tried this unit without vacuum and it is a bear to stop. I bled the unit with a friend and now the car stops very well, I just drove it about 50 miles without trouble. Thanks to everyone for the help and ideas.
  14. Hi Willie and gang Unfortunately this is not like the 55. It is still a Kelsey Hayes unit, but looks totally different. This unit has two bleed screws on the master cylinder bore. This is the first year for GM power brakes and is a single brake circuit. On these units it is important to check the bore of the master and the internal push rod during rebuild since both can be pitted. The unit was thoroughly rebuilt. I'll give the two person method a shot and see what happens. Thx Steve
  15. Hello Everyone I had my master cylinder and power booster rebuilt for my 53 Buick Roadmaster and I insatlled it and am bleeding the brakes. The shop manual says to bleed the rear screw on the master first then the front bleed screw and then move on to the wheels and then start the engine and bleed the master again. I bled the master, but never got clean fluid to run out without air, there seems to be a lot of air in the system. Am I missing something or is it supposed to take a long time to bleed? Also what is best way to bleed with two people pumping the master cylinder or by the handheld vacuum pump? Thanks Steve
  16. Hi Doug I'll take a look, I may have some pieces, which parts do you need? Steve

  22. Could it be BB for all white? or SS? It is hard to read. I know the 54 Buicks used numbers, but that was the last year.
  23. Same thing happened to me from white post, but they sent it to some other company back east. The company back east charged them half what I paid white post. I will give power exchange a try myself as I need to do another one. Thanks for the contact Lamar Steve
