  1. Would be helpful to show a picture. There are more than one style of oil can racks. See you are new here but you can attach a picture to your post.
  2. Nope not at all. Gooding's Amelia Island auction is one of their biggest. They have Duesenberg, Ferrari, Bugatti and all sorts of high dollar multi-million dollar cars up for sale. They also have a portion of the Mullin Museum collection. If you read the bio of the writer of this article it does nothing to suggest she has a clue about collectible cars. She also did not even do a modicum of research as she would have found out that quite a few cars have sold in excess of 10 million at auction.
  3. Steve, this was a racing game that bettors bet on the winning car. People seemed to have a lot of fun with it in our "casino". Dice were rolled and each car was controlled by a staff member to move it forward by cables underneath the car.
  4. Walter, we have all your records and can easily provide you what you need. I will have staff gather all the data and get it to you.
  5. It is a very small percentage, even in our best years we never had more than 1,000 but we also could not have added many more this year to the host hotel as it was completely booked.
  6. I did not take a lot of pictures as we will have tons of them in the next issue of our magazine plus the entire week was covered by a professional video company. Here's a few from the museum and the casino night plus a great champagne cocktail party given to us by the hotel.
  7. Pre-registered was 568! Most did attend...we had 300 alone at the Casino night. 400 plus at the Saturday banquet.
  8. Man, you guys have way, way too much time on your hands! I guess we need to start an AACA Comedians Forum where you guys can work on your stand up routines.
  9. RustyJazz 1938 I had a typo, I meant to type that they did not make the 4 cylinder model in 23. I did own several of these at one time (1923), also a Model 37 (1920) and a few 8 cylinder touring cars. Yes, I was certifiably nuts at the time. At least I resisted buying the 22 mph truck!
  10. Of course it is a Model 43AT which means it is a four door 5 passenger touring car. So in 22 the engine numbers started with A and in 23 they started with B. 24 they did not make a 4 cylinder model (Model 43's are 4 cylinders). I am a bit stumped on the motor number!
  11. You can purchase a copy thru HQ 717-534-1910
  12. I was referred to your company from numerous facebook car groups. I'm hoping you can help. I found a photo album of a young man and his Buick muscle car. The photos appear to have been taken in the 1980's, probably in Sacramento, California OR Reno, Nevada. I'm searching for the man or his family to give them this photo album. Photos attached. Would you be able to help me by spreading the word or anything? Thank you. Rhonda Walker 5115 Palo Alto Ct Sparks, NV 89436 775-626-1307 home landline luluzback@yahoo.com
  13. If the latest issue is not posted, sorry...we are slammed here getting ready for the convention. Staff even working this weekend. update: we will have the current issue updated "shortly."
  14. Andy, another forum member asked me to address this. I was the one who put together the final piece for the book. It was my opinion that this book was for and about our members although some AACA history was important. Whatever contributions the three executive directors have made to this club have been memorialized in the past. As for me, recognition is not that important, recognizing our staff and people who have made great contributions is VERY important. I think I had one sentence I put in our 75th anniversary book about me. I am hopeful my 20 years here speaks for itself, all I know is I have given it my best. They ended up with over 6,000 stories and almost 2,000 that paid to be in the book which necessitated 3 volumes. As I said above, if you verbally gave them a story it will be here in our building in the new oral history center so you did not waste your time.
  15. Colorado is the farthest West we will be at in 2024. We are always on the lookout for someone to have a show or tour in the West. Our badge is the Century badge, HCCA has the 100 year old badge
  16. Well, this runs the gamut from people requesting to buy extra books, love it, to those that had stories that were incorrect. I've spoken to the few calls we got in conjunction with the book and the main problem seems to stem from the email sent to the member to proof their story before publication. In some cases they got caught up in spam files and in some cases simply ignored or considered junk mail when they arrived or didn't arrive? I know of one case that the software that translated the story did not understand a few of the words like the city, just like what spellcheck does. I am impressed so far how PCI is working to satisfy our members even if it was not their fault. Their contact info is 1-800-982-1590 Please don't forget, if your story did not make one of the three volumes sent out, yes, it took 3 books to cover all the stories, that the recording of your article in your own voice will be here at national headquarters in our new oral history center. If you never made a recording and visit us you will be able to sit down and make a recording while visiting us. We already have over 6,000 stories to enter in the computer! We have done three programs of a somewhat similar nature over the last 20 years, after the first two I swore we would never do another although the majority of those who purchased those books were satisfied. This project was different as in the end, what we wanted most was the stories for our oral history center. We did not have the manpower or time to make this project a huge success. Getting the recordings is invaluable not only to us but to families in the future that can listen to their loved ones talk about the hobby and hear their voice. Priceless as far as I am concerned. AACA is not happy that the project was delayed (printer's problems) and apologize and we are sorry for those not happy with the finished project. We are very happy with the number of requests to buy additional books and the compliments given. Certainly a mixed bag but in the end we really hope the good outweighs the bad. Just another note in this regard, the club is not sitting back idly with the new oral history center, the digital history center in our atrium, the digital national awards kiosk, new website, easier online payments, the ability to pay for shows online now and tours real soon plus much more. The directors are, at their own expense, meeting shortly with a world renown facilitator to have a two day discussion on how to do more for our members. So we will continue to try things, some will work great and some won't but if you do not try the result is for certain.
  17. Thanks everyone, I think I was sent something that works for our purpose but I am saving some of these for the future. Greatly appreciate all your effort
  18. So what I am looking for is a hi-res picture of multiple cars in a nice setting driving down a road, not parked. We have lots and lots of pictures of tours but not many showing the cars actually being driven. Handsome reward, a picture of me! No seriously if someone has something I can use I will be happy to pay for its use or give you some kind of AACA gift!
  19. That is a fact! In GM, particularly at the B-O-P plants where multiple brands were on the assembly lines we would get some funny combinations at times with mismatched emblems, floor mats, wrong owners manual and even key fobs. The worst, and we will never know how it happened but the assembly lines hardly stopped for anything at Olds in the early 70's so we even got one fender on a Cutlass painted the wrong color. I'm guessing final inspection thought it funny and let the dealer fix it.
  20. This forum was an accommodation as not all the moderators were on board with issues it brings. So in order to provide a legitimate way for businesses to advertise for free we allow them to post with approval (so that we are sure they are legit) but do not allow for replies as we do not want to have to deal with competitors disparaging each other. We also do not want to deal with the noise of one person saying I got great service and the next bad and so on and so on. We kept it simple.
  21. No editorial comment but there is a pretty large movement by some to ban LED headlights in modern cars. Just an FYI. There is a non-profit working on this as their feeling it is more dangerous as the light can be blinding to some. I can certainly see that in rural areas with no street lights etc. it could be something positive. I also have felt the blinding effects of some cars. I just deal with it.
  22. One of the truly great and remarkable men in the car hobby has gone too soon. Joe had a smile that would light up the room and was the ultimate car guy. He played in a world that most of us can only dream about. Two Best of Shows at Pebble Beach to go along with his 11 First in Class. Despite all his appearances at the big time concours he showed in AACA as well for many years. He was at home in any setting and treated everyone with respect. One of my favorite memories of Joe was when he won Best of Show at the Elegance and won the biggest all glass trophy you could ever imagine. The crate it came in was a work of art and the trophy was stunning. He was so excited and could not wait to get it home to show his wife, Margie. I told Joe we would deliver the award to NJ but no he just HAD to take it home and brought up his driver, a Maserati which was low and sporty and asked for help putting it in the back seat. I just KNEW it would never make the trip and there would be glass everywhere. Just getting it in the car was a nightmare but it did make the trip. I will never forget that moment. Rest in Peace Joe.
  23. Oldsmobile83 gave you the perfect answer but please understand that SOME regions have shows where they give out THEIR own versions of awards with some even being Seniors. However, they are not the national clubs awards and do not qualify a car for the next tier of awards at a national show.
