    Master Cylinder

I agree with Wally. If you are not having problems with the brakes other than the red and yellow lights coming on, then you don't need a whole rebuild of the system but one of the parts of the system. It is VERY important to change all of the brake fluid every couple of years to help prevent serious problems. I have good tested used parts available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com

    Reatta Parts

I'm Jim Finn I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com Are you layip? Jim
  3. I have both and will send you an email. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  4. The part number you are showing 3529818 grp 10.681.is correct. They are no longer available from GM and that is why GMPD isn't listing it. There is a plastic track that is riveted to the vent window frame and is probably not damaged. There is a plastic "T" that is bonded to the window and this "T" slides in the track to keep the window in place. All the other tracks are metal and the small wheels on the motor/regulator ride in these tracks and in a track attached to the bottom of the window. Replacing your window with a good one should be all you need to do. I have a good blue door and the window available and am sending you an email. I agree on the cell phones. I think there should be a law against driving while talking on a cell phone. A couple of years ago I damaged the front of my '65 GTO convertible because a woman was talking on her cell phone, not paying attention, and then hit her brakes. Her car had 4 wheel discs and my old small drum brakes weren't as effective. I was maybe following too close but the woman on the cell phone started the process. Jim

    Reatta Seats

There are two types of seats in Reattas. The regular seats and the 16 way seats. The 16 way seats are identified by having, in addition to the switches on the door panel, there is a 3 switch switch pod mounted on the side of the drivers seat next to the door. These switches control the power lumbar support, the power thigh support and the power tilt. The regular seats do not have these additional features. The bottoms of the seats are different between the two types. Do you have the regular or the 16 way seats?
  6. I have one of those mounts sitting on the shelf and available at a reasonable price w/shipping. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  7. The ones on Ebay were for a convertible.
  8. In the parts catalog it is easy for the parts man to get confused because of all the numbers. The visor clips for the convertible are definitely different from any of the coupes and all the visor clips for the coupes are the same regardless whether the car has a sunroof or not. The visor clips for the convertibles have been out of stock for some time and are virtually impossible to find. Recently there were two grey ones on Ebay and one sold for $ 56 and the other for $ 79.
  9. There should be a small loop on the left side to hold the pen. I emailed you a couple of pictures. Jim
  10. From one of your other posts I see you have an '88 Reatta. The '88-89s came with a small folder with an owners manual and with only the pen in it. The larger folder came in the '90-91s with the flashlight, pen and tire gauge and manual . I have a NOS '88 folder with the manual and with the pen. I also have used '88 folders. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  11. My "guess" is you have problems in the steering column. I have sold several columns for the '88-89s as they seem to fall apart inside. You mentioned it wouldn't crank. Inside the column when you turn the key it pushes a rod down the column and activates the switch near the bottom of the column to crank the engine. You can remove the black panel under the drivers side dash and you can see the rod pushing on the switch when you turn the key. Try and push it a little further and see if it cranks. The 4 way flashers giving you a problem also leads me to think it is a column problem. You don't say where you live but in northern climates it is not unusual for the gas lines to rust out just in front of the drivers side rear wheel.
  12. Sandy, I received your email and sent you a note. Jim

    Full circle

Many years ago the first Reatta I bought was the red '89 in the small picture, taken yesterday, to the left. It was a repairable and I got it with some extra parts. I put a front on the car and sold the extra parts, getting me started. I drove the car from 36,000 miles to about 140,000 miles. I then gave it to my son who put on another 70,000 miles. I got it back last Christmas, drove it for a couple of months, and now it is going to be a parts car.
  14. I did it once and it came out real nice. check out the pix.
  15. My son and I each have green '91 coupes but if the price is right I will cut the roof off mine.
  16. If you determine which parts you need, I have good used accumulators, pressure switches, pump and motors or whole complete ABS units. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  17. The rollers inside the motor/gear case do go bad occasionally. I have good used motors available with either good or new rollers installed. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com The most likely problem though is the bell crank that is bolted to the shaft comming out of the motor/gear case is worn out. These are available from GM but they are expensive. Barney Eaton has a very good inexpensive replacement available for $ 35 including shipping per side and he sells at that price to both BCA members and non members The following is a note from Barney. As an introductory special, I will pay your Reatta Division dues for one year when you purchase a pair of bellcranks. NOTE! You will need to belong to the BCA or join to take advantage of the offer. You will need to include your BCA number with the order or include a BCA application and the appropriate BCA dues (go to www.buickclub.org for the application) This is an excellant opportunity to join the club that supports the car you love. Offer good until Jan. 30 2005. The price of the new bellcrank is $35 each including shipping. Contact me at Barney@texas.net for orders and additional information.
  18. You need to remove the taillight so you can have access to the two screws that hold the lock cylinder housing to the rear panel. You also have to partially remove the black panel under the rear bumper so you can reach up above the bumper from under the car to remove the lock housing from the rear panel. There is one electrical connector near the lock/housing and when you get the housing with the lock out you will see there is one screw holding the lock cylinder to its housing.
  19. From my experience 99% of the time the IPC itself is bad and needs to be repaired or replaced. I have good used ones available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  20. I'll bet if it had been an Edsel you would pay $ 4700. You can only read out the vin on the 88-89s and not on the later ones. Probably because there isn't enough area in the odometer box.
  21. I have both CRT/touch screens and just the touch screen assembly without the CRT available. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  22. Most of the time the terms CRT ( Cathode Ray Tube ) and Touch Screen are used interchangeably to refer to the unit in the center of the dash on the '88-89s. Actually they are two separate functioning pieces bolted and connected together to form one unit. The CRT is the rear portion and has a picture tube in it and the front portion is the touch screen that you use to change the functions in the car. Most of the time when the screen wiggles or goes bad it is the CRT portion. When this happens if you remember where to touch you can still change your radio and heater functions. When you send it in to be repaired or if you replace it with a good used one you would replace the two pieces as a unit. There is also a Cathode Ray Tube Controller ( CRTC ) mounted under the console near the gas pedal that assists in the operation of the CRT/touch screen but these don't go bad very often. I do have some good used units and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com

    Seats in Reatta

The 16 way seats will go right in. The extra connector to power the added functions is spared with a cover on it under the existing regular seats.
