  1. The ornament looks good there but '88 hood ornaments are extremely hard to find in good condition. They have not been available new probably since '88 and even my parts book which was printed in '89 only shows the larger style hood ornament which is now also unavailable from GM or Vintage.

    door glass

Bob, The "T" is bonded to the glass and is not fixable. There is enough stress on the "T" that glues would not hold up. I have windows pretty cheap and will send you an email.
  3. I have several Reatta parts cars and do have a good touch screen/crt available. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  4. I cannot say if the problems you are having are caused by a bad keyless entry module or not but I do know the modules are the same on the coupes and the convertibles. Only the location is different. The module is located behind the lower right rear panel behind the drivers seat on the coupes and it is located inside the area/panel between the seats and trunk area. I do have a good keyless remote module available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  5. I have noticed a couple of times that if a car sits for a period of time without being used and the tank is low on fuel the sending unit will get corroded and not work. The unit in the tank has a moveable arm that goes up and down and contacts the windings of a coil. When it sits dry the contacts and coil slightly corrode. I had this happen to me last summer when I drove a convertible to the National meet in Plano. When I started out the gauge was erratic like yours but after several fills of the tank it started working properly and has ever since. I would recommend going on your trip without doing anything and just keep track of the distance you are driving and fill the tank every couple hundred miles and I would bet that the problem will go away by itself. Just recently I heard of another person with the same problem and it went away.

    Rear Control Arm

I have several Reatta parts cars and have a left rear control arm on the shelf. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  7. The '90s do have the fog light switch as part of the assembly and the '91s do not. When taking apart the '90 switches I always operate the fog switch to the "on" position. In the "on" position it is less likely to fall apart. There are quite a few small parts in the '90-91 switches and it is likely some of them may now be missing. If you cannot get it back together I do have a good '91 switch available and can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  8. About 3 weeks ago as I was walking away from my '91 I looked back and all of the tail lights or brake lights were on and nothing else. I checked a couple of things and nothing would make them go out. I disconnected the large connector near the antenna and left it that way for a while. The next day I reconnected the connector and everything has been good since. Gremlins maybe.
  9. Oh, I remember those days, I just bought my 40th Reatta. You can purchase a headlight at any auto parts store and even K-Mart and Wal-Mart have them. Open the hood and manually raise the passenger headlight by turning the knob on the end of the headlight motor if your car is a '90-91. If you have an 88-89 push the headlight retract switch below the tape player or do it manually like the '90s. You will need a # 15 torx screw driver to remove the two screws on either side of the headlamp that hold the bezel in place. It you don't have a # 15 torx sometimes a small regular screw driver will work as the screws are not in too tight. Remove the bezel and there will be four either Phillips or regular screws holding the stainless bezel that holds the headlamp in place.
  10. I just picked up a green '91 that will be a parts car and it does have all of the original wheels and center caps on it. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  11. I have several Reatta parts cars and do have a used set of grey '90 mats. I will send you an email and I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com

    electrical error

The most common item to go bad on the '90-91 Reattas is the IPC, the instrument panel cluster. When it goes black it probably also says 0 and 00 where the odometer usually reads out. I have several Reatta parts cars and do have a good IPC available. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  13. I do have the correct door handles for the '88-90 Reattas. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  14. My wife has her driftwood convertible for the summer and I have a nice Select 60 but it is too nice to use as a daily driver. I would like to purchase a "driver" convertible for this summer. I would like to spend under $ 8000 and miles are not important in fact the higher the better because then the price would also be lower. I can take one needing some work as I do have one or two parts available. I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com
  15. All 4 years of the Reattas the pin stripe from the factory was painted on. If you have tape the car was probably painted and then someone put on tape striping. The painted on striping did wear off and another possiblility is it got so bad someone put tape over it. All Reattas came with the same shift knobs. The "T"type shift knob was added from an earlier Buick of some kind.
  16. It is a 7/16s nut and I take them off and put them on with a 1/4 inch drive socket with a swivel adapter just behind the socket.
  17. The red and yellow ABS and brake lights are replaceable bulbs on the '88-89 clusters but not replaceable on the '90-91s. I have also noticed these lights do not come on sometimes from the test button but you mentioned when putting on the parking brake the red brake light would come on. This tells me the light and its socket are good. Pump your brake pedal about 10 time sort of fast and the yellow and red lights should come on and go off again. If they do, you have no problems with the lights. I have several Reatta parts cars and have had some of these clusters apart. Sometimes the bulbs are good but there is corrosion where the bulb socket fits up against the printed circuit board. Again if your lights come on with the brake test everything should be OK I can be reached at jfinn@cpinternet.com for any parts.
  18. I just read the post about the '91 only door handles and there is a casting on the back of the '88-90 handles for a switch. The '91 handles do not have this casting. A while back I checked with a local auto parts store and they did stock the '91 handles but not for the '88-90s. Padgett, I did forget about the switch on the rear of the lock. There is a "C" type keeper that can be removed and the switch on the rear will come off the lock mechanism. I don't remember exactly if the wires from this switch have their own connector, or if one of the wires loops to another switch in that area.
  19. The key for the lock on your door is in the mail. I misunderstood when you asked about changing the cylinder. I was thinking you were asking about changing the whole mechanism. That is the way you should do it. There is a flat metal piece that slips in behind a couple of tabs on the lock mechanism. Slide this piece away from the lock and the whole unit will come out of the door. You can then put the whole lock assembly from your original door into the new door. Jim

    Select 60

The only 2 years that Reattas had the Select 60 designation was '88 and '90. All of the '88s were black with tan interiors and no different appearing then other black/tan '88s. They may have ( dealer installed ) a special hood emblem stating "Select 60". All of the '90 Select 60s were white convertibles with white tops and '91 style white wheels. The most noticable other feature of the '90 Select 60s was they had bright white door panels and seats and the rest of the interior was bright red ( not burgundy )
