Hello Bill, As John pointed out, if you really want to help Linda find a new buyer, we need more information. From the area code 310, we can guess the car is in southern california. From the Durant Motors Internet Forum, we can find a recent listing for Linda, and an older one for Derek. These listings indicate the location as Fallbrook, CA. With that information, I came across this poster from the 2018 Fallbrook Vintage Car Show. The caption indicates the vehicle in the "Right Front" of the poster is a 1929 Durant Model 40 – owned by Derek and Linda Lovett. Is this the car? If so, the illustration is good looking, but car enthusiasts will want to see actual pictures, which you can upload onto this site at no cost. Please share this info with Linda. Hopefully it helps.

1935 Packard 8 Clubby $34k

Pictures appear to have come from this old ClassicCars.com listing... https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1673021/1935-packard-eight-for-sale-in-cadillac-michigan-49601 That being said... ...there is a website for a company that rents out 'novelty' vehicles for Special Events (including this car)... https://www.playrva.co/ It's possible the scammer knows the history and makes the ad seem more realistic... ...or maybe it is legit (no evidence that the rental company is going out of business though)... ...As Always... Buyer Beware! -

Beautiful Car - however - prime example of how NOT to sell a valuable car on Bring-A-Trailer... ...Not Mine... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1931-packard-standard-eight-833-rumble-seat-coupe/ This 1931 Packard Standard Eight Series 833 is fitted with rumble seat coupe bodywork, and it was delivered new to Waller Motors of Jenkins, Pennsylvania. It was refurbished under previous ownership before it was purchased by the seller’s father in 2016. The car has not been serviced in approximately three years according to the seller, and maintenance may be required prior to use. This Eighth Series Packard is now offered by the seller on behalf of his father in Naples, Florida, with a clean Alaska title in the owner’s name. My Comment - Not Seller: I feel bad for the family in their situation. Father is ill, son never drove the car until he shot the 'driving video' - with only 3 days to go, the price is very low, but the video and Seller's comments raise questions and don't inspire bidder confidence... Packard's are not my specialty, so I'd be interested in knowledgeable comments about the value of the car assuming the engine is in reasonably good shape... I have a hard time seeing this auction reaching whatever reserve the family has placed on the car...

Barn Finds fell for the scam too... If you scroll down to the comments section on Barn Finds, all the potential buyers that hung in there got to the "deposit" requirement - overwhelming conclusion: scam. Barn Find Link https://barnfinds.com/same-owner-29-years-1970-chevrolet-chevelle-ss-396/ -
This green one sold at eBay auction today - not same restored condition as this post - but, nice original California car... https://www.ebay.com/itm/166389482079?hash=item26bd96025f:g:jZ8AAOSwvmRlNCD- Sold - High bid: $23,846 Dealer Ad Copy: Well kept one owner Northern California Car. Runs as good as it looks. Retractable roof works flawlessly. Lights blinkers gauges horn heater wipers all working. Radio is intermittent and scratchy. Owner was a certified Ford mechanic for 40 years. Original 352 was replaced in the 60s with an early 390 motor out of a police interceptor. The car starts right up and runs smoothly. Transmission is shifting properly. All glass is good. Door & Window mechanisms are all in place and working. Doors shut nice. Tires are newer radials. Stainless & brightwork is all serviceable. All is in place only showing some minor wear, dings and scuffs. Lacquer paint has had some touch up over the years which makes us consider this only driver quality paint. Overall a solid car that's always been garaged. Solid floorpans, trunk and rockers - no rust.

This appears to be a scam --- these are pictures of a car sold on Bring-a-Trailer Link to old BAT sale: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1956-ford-thunderbird-112/ Buyer beware - also ad says car is in Topeka, KS and the cell phone number is area code Vermont Probably why the seller wants TEXT messages, not a call...

update - the car is in Illinois, not Monterey, CA, and it was sold before she forwarded the pictures to me to review - must have been good pictures - apparently a lot of interest - oh well, there must be another good car out there somewhere! -

Don't forget, BAT Buyer also pays 5% - so on this car, another $3,100. And then there's the cost of getting it home...
