  1. I have a pumpkin out a a '41 with 4.4X gears available if you are still looking. It was nice and quite when I removed it.
  2. I just installed a 4l60E in my 61 Invicta with the 401 Nailhead. I got a custom bellhousing from Centerville along with a new flexplate. Since it's an electronic transmission I'm using a Quick2 computer from US Shift. I've also installed a Holley Sniper EFI setup on the stock intake. I hadn't planned on the tranny swap until much later but when the Dynaflow died I went ahead with the swap. The driveshaft is at the driveshaft shop getting shortend by about 8 inches. I can't wait to get it back and try it out. My '49 though is getting a 6.0L and tranny from a 2005 GM truck. I want a more modern drivetrain for many of the same reasons you do.
  3. That's very interesting. That's basically the same as the Chevy C10 long trailing arm setup. Same as I'm using. Many places replace the long arm with a square tubing because they are more rigid. However, the C10 trailing arm setup needs to twist. The I-beam is very strong and resists flexing but it can twist allowing the suspension to move or articulate. When a square tubing is used they do not flex OR twist and it make for a very harsh ride. However, with those ends the tubes are allowed to rotate or "twist" at the same time move up and down. I like it!
  4. Yup! Fatman up front, C10 long arms in back. Going with 6.0 Vortec/ 4L65E drivetrain.
  5. I'm in the process of using his bellhousings to mate a 4L60E to a 401.
  6. Getting ready to move to a new house and don't want to move this beast. I took it out of a 49 Roadmaster. It ran great except for needing a carb rebuild. No smoke. It has been stored in my heated garage since pulled, about 1.5 years ago. Engine $1600. Located in the Portland Oregon area. I also have the tranny for it. It also seems to work fine, just leaks.
  7. I have an almost new 6 Volt 3EH size Columbia battery for an early Buick. I bought it and a few months later switched to 12 Volts. Paid $135 for it, $75 for anyone in the Portland area that wants it.
  8. It's sure helping mine out. Thanks Greg!
  9. That's definitely a ST400 /THM400 tranny. You can tell by the pan shape and vacuum modulator. "Don't let the Bastards get you down". The car can be made into a great cruiser. I would make sure the front end kit was correct, they could have sent the wrong parts. Rear setup doesn't look bad from the picture. I would make sure its tracking straight though just to make sure. That same type of setup has been used on many modified Buicks.
  10. From what I can tell the Truck ones have a different bolt pattern than the 61. The 61 is a one year only gear box. ? Since it is a Saginaw, the internals should be the same as most any other Saginaw in the same family. My plan is to take it to a local steering gear re-builder and see if they can put in variable ratio parts.
  11. Might try giving this guy a buzz. He's in Oregon advertising on Craigslist. I think he made a couple posts on here at one time. https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/d/buick-riviera-parts/6607133219.html
  12. Can it be repaired with a helicoil or some other way?
  13. I just took a pic of the wheel I need. I'll try NW Classic on Monday. I purchased on on eBay but when I got it it wasn't the right one plus it was rusted real bad and bent. At least they refunded my money....
  14. I'm needing one 15x6 wheel for my 61 Invicta. For some reason a previous owner replaced one with a 15x5.5 from an older car. Thank you, Scott
  15. Just got off the phone with the owner. He is still in business but mostly retired. He was out of town at the time and couldn't look up the info for 54-56 sway bar but will be back tomorrow. I will be out of town starting tomorrow until next weekend. He said orders are about a month out this time of year. So... it looks promising at least!! Since I'm just a couple miles away maybe I can help out in some way. I am going to stop by and try to get one made for my car.
  16. From what I've been able to find.... They sold out years ago to the Warn winch company but they didn't do much with it. About 2012 or so the original guy bought back the name and what few patterns were left. Warn had destroyed most of the old patterns. The address shows as it being just down the road from me. I'll try and do a drive by and see what the shop looks like. I want to get a bigger sway bar for my 61 also so I'm interested to see if they are still operating.
  17. Why not order one from Quickor Garage here in Portland? http://www.quickorgarage.com/CartPages/buick.htm They can also make custom bars for pretty much anything you need. http://www.quickorgarage.com/custom.htm
  18. Building headers is not an easy job. I had to make my own when I built a Cobra replica. I put a Chevy engine in it and for some reason nobody makes a header for a Chevy in a Cobra. ? I built mine using J-bends and cutting them up and welding them together. After doing it I definitely have an appreciation for fabricators.
  19. Are there any quicker ratio steering gears available to fit a 1961 Invicta? I've started driving mine and really don't like the extremely slow ratio, about 20:1. I don't want a 12.7:1 ratio but I would love some thing around 15:1 like most other cars in the 70's at least. I've seen places that advertise gears for the car but they mount on the inside of the frame. The 61's mount on the outside.
  20. Why are we not seeing pics of it in your garage already! What an awesome find.
  21. The 41 has been a great car and we have enjoyed it a lot. I had a '61 Invicta convertible and had to sell it to go to college. I've missed that car ever since and when a 61 Invicta Bubbletop came up I had to get it. I'll still have the '49 for my "older" ride. If I had the space to keep them all I wouldn't sell the 41.
  22. https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/d/1941-buick-super-coupe/6554903644.html If interested let me know. Price negotiable for forum folks, make me an offer. I have a lot more pictures available. I want to concentrate on my '49 and '61. This one just sits in storage. It needs to go to a new home so it can be driven and enjoyed more.
