  1. Tomorrow afternoon will be the Tucker GA cruise. Monthly through the summer right on Main Street, last month they had about 80 cars. Always a good time, good music, great shops to grab a snack, or even going to the growler shop.
  2. I have a freeze plug that was starting to leak, and of course it is behind the starter. I called stop leak and they recommended a product that was 6 tablets on a card for about $3.00. They said to crush them up and run the car for about an hour, if that didn't do it, repeat. So far it looks like once is enough for me. Also they say it won't harm the engine or radiator. Good luck. greg
  3. I am trying to help a friend with his top. He says that sometimes it won't go down. I think one or two of the switches are not closing. Can anyone help me out? I don't think he has a manual. Greg

    Brake Fluid Issue

I used dot 5 in my 1938 Plymouth when I did the brakes in the 1990's. Then the car sat till last year, when I was able to get back to it. Well I pulled the master cylinder, just because, and It was fine. not a bit of corrosion, no pitting, issues. I didn't even bother with the slaves as it all looked so good. Brakes fine. I hope you find your problem. Greg
  5. Well, I have driven my 1938 Plymouth for years without seat belts, even though I would never drive my 350-Z without them. What is the general consenus? I am now getting her back on the road and I live in Atlanta, not the friendliest place to drive. I ask this because this past weekend a Model A was Destroyed by a VW and the driver was killed and his wife is in critical condition. I would bet they had no seat belts. Do you all have seat belts installed? Do you wear them? Greg
  6. That's just perfect for me, I never sit on the other side anyway! Drive on.
  7. You are able top find lacquer? Sherwin Williams only had single stage enamel to sell to me. I have never painted with enamel, so I am going to have to retrain myself. But I agree with Bob, don't use a 2 stage paint. Greg
  8. 1938 would be a P5 or P6, not the 7 or 8. Greg
  9. I'm very interested in your install also. Had my '38 Plymouth out at a show that ran late and needed headlights. After about a minute I smelled something getting hot. Looks like that 75 year old wire has shorted out somewhere. I am looking at Rhode Island Wiring for the replacement. Greg

    vacume wipers

You might try Mitchell Motor parts in Fairmount GA. I think they have reproduction knobs. 706-337-4606. Don't buy all of them I need pair soon. Greg

    vacume wipers

Hey Tim, I have a '38 P-6 and yes there should be a knob at each wiper motor. It is a challenge to get the shaft through the headliner without doing a lot of damage to it. Good luck! greg
  12. Wow that would be great. And if there is any way to get a couple of critical dimensions that would really help. The total length of the part, approx. how wide from the outside to the contact point on the seat lever. Anything would be a big help. You can send to my e-mail gbarner@bubblingcreek.com. Greg
  13. I drove my baby for the first time this Saturday. After 5 months of dust and cobweb removal and the necessary rework after a very long garage period, I felt it was road worthy. I had forgotten the pleasure I get out of the drive and the looks and waves. I still have a lot of work to do, but at least I can have fun with it. Also forgot how much pressure is required for manual brakes!!!PUSH HARDER.
  14. Does anyone have a spare adjuster or can send me a sketch so I can fab one from scratch? I have a picture of what it should look like but some dimensions would be great. Greg

  16. I too was very young when I started this hobby. I was 14 when I bought my first car and it was my daily driver while I was in high school. I also found it difficult to talk to most of the older guys while working on the car. So now whenever I am at a show, cruise, or just by an old car I do my best to be sure that I answer any questions that a younger person asks. It makes the day more fun and broadens the hobby.
  17. Just replaced the water pump and flushed radiator and block on my P-6 that hasn't run in many years. Put the radiator back in and added coolant, pleased with my accomplishment for the day went in to watch the F-1 race. Came out after the race and the entire batch of coolant was on the floor. It seems to be coming from behind the timing cover. Is there a freeze plug in that area? I can't remember. Have I not seated the water pump completely? it looks good and everything is tight. Any ideas before I have to take drastic measures?Greg
  18. Pat, I am using NAPA non detergent 30 wt. in my '38 Plymouth. Are you going to drop the pan and clean the goo out of it? I don't think you want to run a detergent oil without knowing what is in the pan. I would probably run the engine for about 30 minutes and then change the oil and filter if they are dirty. Good luck! Greg
  19. John I looked last night and I don't have one. Sorry. But beware when using one you will put undue stress on the left hinge and break it. I no longer use my support after going thru a hinge. Greg
