  1. I have the original window glasses for my 1928 Dodge Senior 4 door. I got replacement with 2 ply laminate. Excellent job done by the supplier. The channel run I bought from a popular supplier just will not work. It is not the supplier's fault. The channel run gets stuck halfway down and will neither go down nor comes up . In the process of pulling it up with a pliers the glass broke. Same problem in all windows. I tried wiggling the handle up and down and was able to get one 3/4 way down but the riser wheel keeps falling off.. I tried wirebrushing the back of the channel run but it did not help.So far I ruined about 30 feet of channel run. I cannot get pictures from down the channel but at the point of 3/4 ways down the overall opening is narrower. The old channel run was a different material something like felt used in the manufacturing of hats. Not available now. I am considering using the channel run from '55 '56 chevy trucks supplied by Ecler. Any advice ?
  2. That is a common sense fix. Sense is not so common with some engineers
  3. Is there a possibility to remove the ignition coil section in the distributor and use normal 6 V coil ? Bypass ? The capacitor is only there to store the fire and deliver to the plugs when the contacts are open.
  4. F&J is on the ball. If the overall surface is flat then the entire face must be machined. My 49 Buick Special flywheel the clutch face is recessed. When the clutch flywheel face is machined the outer ring must be machined the same amount. If I remember correctly (memory kind of fading at 85 and a half) the bolt holes are on the upper surface. My 28 Dodge brothers flywheel clutch surface is recessed and very easy to service. The flywheel on my 41 Buick was never machined in all its life because removal was difficult. I felt like putting a bomb in it and blowing it up. In one of my recent threads I described how much work involved in removing it. FRUSTRATING. While you have the flywheel out check the ring gear for defects. Also the pilot bearing/bushing should be replaced for the cost of it.
  5. Incydervine thank you, Can I contact you directly ? Or you contact me through this forum ? I do not know how to do " P M " I saved all the horse hair I could but they are breaking up like fine dust, Too old. My Phone # is 905 889 0621 , hsahu8034@gmail,com
  6. Thank mates , I no longer need it. Cheers.
  7. I am looking for a used wet glass sander . Like the ones used in windshield replacement shops. Any luck ? Harry 905 889 0621 or PM me. Thank you
  8. A few pictures will be nice. Is it the same as a knee action shock ?
  9. MochetVelo,Thank you very much for letting us know. Not too many people come back on this blog to let us know how they did make out. That is a great job done.
  10. A flat wood file and a round wood file also comes in handy. Not to mention a few C clamps.
  11. Avoid using sand paper on the diaphram. Soak in lemon juice or better yet, vapor rust. and if you want to go the extra mile get a chrome plater to lightly plate it with copper. Any thin gasket paper will do. The tone depends on the adjustment screw.
  12. If it is a 37 Buick the rear coil spring or U bolts , whichever it is , must be removed, the brakes lines must be disconnected and the tube at the transmission must also be disconnected . IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THE THREAD ON THE RIGHT SIDE IS COUNTER CLOCKWISE. The entire rear assembly must be pulled backwards . That means jacking the frame and blocking . The transmission can then be unbolted at this point . The gear leaver tower will have to be removed from inside the cab. Remove the bolts from the clutch plate . Now the flywheel position must be marked in relation to the threaded holes in the crankshaft . That is very important,.It depends on the model of the engine, the flywheel will not come off through the bell housing. I keeps bouncing on the side of the bell housing. You may have to remove the oil pan and loosen the main bolts a little and drop the crankshaft to clear the flywheel. That is what I had to do on my 1941 Buick century to remove and machine the flywheel face. You can also use a hacksaw and cut a 'V' in the bell housing where the flywheel jams instead of removing the oil pan. Make sure to renew the transmission pilot bearing or bushing whatever it may be. Check ring gear for wear. Because there is so much work involved in replacing a worn clutch mechanics were reluctant to remove the flywheel and left face of flywheel rough. Short cut.
  13. I do not know how the car makers did theirs. They probably custom made their cutters. I have seen old cabinet makers made these joints with a tenon saw and chisel. The key ingredient in wood working is the skill to sharpen tools correctly.
  14. There is a Japanese saw that cuts by pulling backwards. Very fine cuts and sharp like a razor blade. The kerf or the sawn width is about .06 thou . Check with Lee Valley Wood working tools. leevalley.com 1800 668 1807, 1 800 267 8761
  15. I worked for a transport company A container load of hides was brought in from Brazil. The smell was terrible. The container was steam washed . Nothing doing. A few pounds of raw coffee did the job. If the smell penetrated the wood you have no choice but to replace.
  16. Off course all those tools come in handy. But the man behind the tools what counts. You may think about taking some classes at the technical schools that offers them. Great help. The Tech teacher may be happy to participate in your project. Get some books on the subject Buy quality tools because after you are finished the project you may want to get rid of some. Quality tools are easier to sell. STAY AWAY FROM MULTI USE TOOL. The 1 tool that you can turn into a drill. and then into something else and something else and something else. They are just junk and cannot do any thing precisely. I just finished restoring a 1928 Dodge senior . I gave away most of my tool to good homes. At 85 and a half years old I stopped collecting.
  17. Istakeside, I was thinking along the same line. It happens with all manufactures. They try to use all parts in the bins of the the previous models if they fit the new models. After the take over of the Dodge Brothers by Chrysler it is quite possible there were left over of major components and Chrysler decided to use them until there were no more. I know of a fellow who has a junk 29 car . He made into a hot rod. The engine is a continental 6. He has the cluster instruments for sale. wants 100 hundred dollars C. The engine is also for sale but will definately needs rebuild.

  20. This is a good conversation. We all learned something.
  21. We must also remember we in this club are not millionairs , just poor folks having some fun in a hobby. Let us says some guy want to sell a distributor for 20 dollars. A one time deal. He is not going to register with Paypal or visa for that. They charge a fee for every transaction . We have to find a way to do business with each other in a way whereby we will all be winners
  22. Yes. the pink one. It should say INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDER. Off course, some folks lives so far away from town with no mail deliveries so a Box is necessary. but Canadian banks do not care. You may not believe this. Recently about 50 miles from my home in the farm area. There was a roadside stall selling corn and other vegetables. There were no attendants. The sign said "put money in box and take change "

Thank you for the correction. I need a straight rim. The one with a split . Use a type of jack to shrink smaller to install or remove tires. Cheers. I have one of those jacks.
