  1. Wel, well, I got an emaiil from him last night saying he found my mailing address. I will wait for a few weeks to see if the package comes. If not I will be back with full details. Harry.
  2. If my memory serves me right The Filling Station was selling brand new collapsible rims for Chevs.
  3. I sent U S money order to a Blogger on this forum for lenses. In the envelope there is a cover letter with my name and address . He keeps sending me emails asking for my mailing address but his emails come back " undelivered" It is blocked. He goes by the name '"R R" Please alert your bloggers on this forum. He does not answer his phone either. Harry
  4. My 28 D B Senior has a set of snubbers. They are loaded with a flat coil spring. Like a clock spring. Made by Gabriel.
  5. It is a beautiful car. I Made in Australia ? Cheers.
  6. If the door panels are anything like on my 28 DB, the ferule on the door handles are screwed on . They are made with pot metal and has to be broken into little pieces to remove. The Ausie chap reproduces them in stainless steel.. I bought mine a few years ago. Now the cost has gone up by almost 50 %. The panels are attached to the door frame with headless nails. You may look up Meyers Early Dodge website to see what the new ones look like.
  7. My driver was a 95 2 door Cherokee Sports . 5 on the floor, inline 6. Drove it for 20 plus years on the same clutch plate. I bought a 2017 V6 Colorado 7 speed automatic. Within 60 feet it changes speed to 3rd. gear. It drives like a car, can cut in and out in any traffic. Very quick acceleration. Can stop on a dime. I am 86 and 3/4 years old and not that quick on the draw driving the old Jeep. With this truck I can deal with the inconsiderate punks on the highway. This truck is not a truck like the 60's and 90's . It runs like a car. My son do not like to drive it because he says the steering is too sensitive.
  8. I think there is some confusion here. I came across description of cars as 4 door touring sedans. From my knowledge a convertible is not a touring car. A convertible is a convertible. Another name is a soft top, or ragtop. Lincoln at one time made a 4 door convertible. Most cars that I know off has the door lock in the drivers side. The passenger side door is locked by twisting the inside handle. My M G B ragtop. Driver door has a lock. With the top down I can just step in the driver seat with the door locked. Will some one correct me. Cheers.
  9. All locking rings are based on the same principle. When new it was not a problem. As they aged the rust out creates imperfections Not too nice. Both ring and grove need to be renewed, something like refacing a flywheel. Try for fit without tire on. Ideally blowing up such wheels require a special cage. Easily fabricated from scrap steel. Make sure your head remains attached to your shoulders.
  10. LarrySchramm , Congratlations. You will enjoy the new spokes. I had mine done by Calima Wood wheel for my 28 DB Senior last summer. What a beauty. I am still awaiting for the flaps for the last 6 months.
  11. Lock rings are the most dangerous components in a tyre/wheel. People have been killed by rings flying out. It has been illegal to use them in the trucking industry for 25 years now in Canada. Trucks coming into Canada with lock rings and copper brakes line are not allowed. You best bet is to take it to a machine shop. Check the trueness and skim the grove for a good fit . If the rim is out of line have it straighten out. There was a fellow who was featured in the Hemmings Magazine a few years ago . He was straightening rims of all sorts, even spokes rims . Do some search.
  12. Than you for letting us know .Happy motoring. Now you will be going to the mall with the car to to visit Santa.
  13. The crankshaft on the Dodge Senior 6 is touted as having no counterweight . The engine runs smooth and purrs as a kitten. Were the dodge brothers that good ? Compare the Chevrolet of the same year. It is like chalk and cheese.
  14. First I congratulate you for letting us know how you solve the problem. In Tek school I learned there is a test to check radiator flow per minute and compare it with specks. Cars that are parked for long periods , the rads should be drained (blocks and all ) and filled with Transmission oil. It was possible to clean yours by filling it with vaporust for 2 days. Nice car, Now you can drive with confidence.
  15. 37McBuick has the best idea. Now that you will not be using those old tires any more why not just use a jigsaw and hack the rest ? Clean the rims inside and paint, Harry

Thank you Jon. About 8 years ago a kindly blogger on this forum sent me a barn find of a ux-2 for the cost of shipping. The body was all cracked up but the parts were intact. Cyndy Meyers sent the old parts and had a new casting made. Beautiful job. I transfered the parts. THE PROBLEM IS , I TRIED ON THIS FORUM .No one was able to guide me as to how to hook up the lever to the pedal cross shaft. You probably know the cross shaft of the gas pedal runs through the engine block. I also had a UX- 3 but the mounting bolts will not line up. You answered that question correctly. When I bought the car it was not running but there was a stromburg UL6 bolted on with an adapter. That is the incorrect carb and I ditched it. I will try to source one of those carbs you suggested . Thank you very much
  18. I need help. The carburetor on my 28 Senior 6 engine is running with a Carter B B 1. I think they were used on Chevrolet 1932 trucks, I am not sure. I am not happy with it . What is the alternative ? The Original according to the manual is a UX-2. So far I have tried on this forum to get information on how to hook up a UX2. The manual also say UX-3. The UX-3 bolt pattern center is too wide.To the bloggers who may not know what the X means is that the butterfly lever must be pulled towards the engine block where as the normal carburetor butterfly is pulled towards the firewall. If that carburetor (UX-2) came as OEM some one out there must have an idea what is the missing linkage. Any help mates. Cheers.
  19. The problem with our old engines is they are not run long enough to heat up the oil to dissipate the moisture buildup. We think by running the engine cool and sweet for a couple hours is a good feeling. Bigger engines especially needs to be run hot for about 5 hours whenever in use. A high thermostat helps. If not the oil will end up looking like cream and will speed up the wear of moving parts. Let us hear from our more experienced buddies.
  20. Condolences to the family. may he R I P.
  21. T T R you have it correct. May be you should make for customers. The portion on the car is sometimes welded to the A pillar. In that case use a suitable drill bit and drill that hole out first. To smoothen that hole out wrap a piece of sand paper on a drill bit and run through with an electric drill. Then measure the hole for the pin size.
  22. Can any one tell me for certain if a starter motor from a 1929 Dodge Standard 6 work on a 1928 DB Senior ? Thank you
  23. How about drilling a hole in the pin and cross holes for pouring oil in ?
