Asking $20,000 or best offer - motivated seller! I figured with so many looking at the post maybe there was a alternate number out there? -
Gosh I wish I was there - super HOT in VA and it's not the same driving around in traffic with my Ford Taurus! Be safe and enjoy the rest of the trip! ACF

Amazing to me the number of collections of dozens of cars (and other things) that people have. Seems there are several of these kinds of sales each month, not to mention all the reality TV 'look what I found' and 'hoarder' shows. Fun to watch!

Just read James Melton-The Tenor of His Times written by his daughter, Margo Melton Nutt (Hawk Pine Press, 3/13.) Of course we car guys know him for his great car collection and museums - he was also an AACA National President. (The ex-Doris Duke Peerless reported sold at auction in this month's Hemmings belonged to him at one time. His former 33 Chrysler is consigned for February's BJ sale.) I'd almost call him the Jay Leno of his time - a well known entertainer who shared his car hobby with his international audience and fans. The book also gives an insight to celebrity life in the 20's-50's, sounds like those were the days! Melton had an interesting life full of highs and lows. Musically I was impressed at the singer's career from popular songs to opera, concerts, radio, movies and TV. I got mine from Amazon-check it out!

Have you seen Bonnie and Clyde’s death car?
AC Fuhrman replied to benjamin j's topic in General Discussion
Found it - 1987 Great Race - also called 'The Warren Car' after it's original owner.
RACING THE BULLETRIDDLED DEATH CAR

[TABLE]
[TR] [TD]In 1987 the car belonged to Clyde Wade, curator of Harrah's Automotive Museum. It was put in running condition. The only thing changed was the windshield, because it would not pass inspection. The steering wheel was half rebar and half plastic. The seats were all shot up and there were bullet holes throughout. Because all of the side windows still had holes through them, they were covered with Plexiglas to keep out the weather. Bruce Gezon and Virginia "Ginni" Withers raced the deathcar in 1987 in the Interstate Batteries Great Race. Wade, who is a friend of Withers and her husband Newt, entered the car in the Great Race because he wanted to sell it and he believed that the publicity would increase its value. Have you seen Bonnie and Clyde’s death car?

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong - but was it run in the Great American Race once (or one made to look like it?) Maybe Newt and Ginny Withers had something to do with it? -

Keep trying with VA DMV - I've had similar problems too - Wayne Burgess from AACA board can help - he is often on the forum!

Hershey Finds
AC Fuhrman replied to Terry Bond's topic in Memorabilia, Toys, Art, Signs, Clothing and Printed Material
Great stuff Terry. A couple years ago one of my boys bought a little brass birdcage at Hershey. Believe it was a sample/model of a larger one. -
The Schlumpf Obsession - I think was the title of the book I recall. It at least gave good coverage of the ones they had and the 'tribute' Esders' roadster. Maybe AACA Library can help?

1941 Lincoln Continental Coupe
AC Fuhrman replied to motoringicons's topic in Automobiles and Parts - Buy/Sell
I wish... -
Pretty sure - he was the host of Ripley's Believe It or Not on TV at the time. I don't remember all the particulars.
-
1980-something; Jack Palance (actor) used to do a TV commercial with his own V-12 Lincoln about the same time.

Hi Wayne- Life long GM guy here - voting for the LINCOLN. (Can't get past the blue-sorry.) Maybe a Franklin - air cooled IS cool remember. Andy

A long shot and just going from memory - but about 2X3 foot - plastic, mostly gold in color, with a raised Cadillac crest and 'the V,' also Cadillac script under that. Circa 1970's. My Grandfather was a Cadillac Olds dealer and this 'thing' was in his basement for the longest time (not anymore) - I've looked and looked for one but don't even know what to call it. Would like to have one for my garage. Thanks!

Anyone get teary-eyed selling a car or truck?
AC Fuhrman replied to keiser31's topic in General Discussion
It's all right everyone - I've had to sell couple of old friends recently due to the cruddy economy. But there are plenty of other 'fish in the sea.' More cars become 'old cars' everyday. I've heard guys say their favorite is the next one they find! -
Sending you an email.
