  1. I have a 1942 Olds 68, needing new hood hinges, so I bought this NOS pair of 90 series hood hinges thinking they may be the same. Well, they are not!! So here they are up for sale. They may fit some postwar years also, but I do not know for sure. I don't believe there are many models out there that these will fit, but they are of no use to me, and I just want to find a home for them. I have posted some pictures of them, if more are so desired, just ask. The part #'s are as follows: 417940 & 417941 They are dusty, but sweet, nice & tight. I don't want much for them, I only want them to go to somebody that can possibly use them. Just make an offer, if you can use them, don't be shy, any offer will be probably jumped upon!! If they don't sell, I will just have to toss them, something I don't want to do. Call me, Mike 661 766 9141 I am in CA. Or email me at: mikesoldecars@yahoo.com (I am not adept at private messages here, so either call or email me if any interest, thanks.).
  2. Hey shadetree77, thanks so much for sharing this info. I thought I was good at eliminating unwanted junk from my searches, but you, my friend, take home the prize!!
  3. I think I gained 20 lbs reading this stuff!! And all because I had an interest in some wire wheels!!
  4. Hey Tom, did I miss your call last Friday?? If so, sorry, Mike
  5. Did you ever find one?? I have a few extras, Mike
  6. Great news, Tom, I agree with you immensely on your statement: "They say its not yours until you work on it." I have a 1949 Super here I am finishing for a friend. Some wood was made by the previous owner, who unfortunately died midway through. He made the rear quarters, but when I made the front & rear door wood, it didn't match up to his makings. I rechecked my makings to the original wood and it is correct, within reason, but his didn't seem to pass in that regard. So I need to remake his rear quarter wood, still trying to figure out exactly how many pieces. He never finished the upper tailgate, or liftgate, and made most of the lower one, but at this point I am not very confident in his work. Don't get me wrong, it looked fine when it arrived, but if things don't line up, it can get away really quickly. His rear quarters turned out to be off, so perhaps all the rear wood is, also. I can send you the door wood anytime, since I am done with it, and confident it is fine. I mean all the frames for all 4 doors. That will keep you busy, believe me, and I will keep you appraised on how to tackle this endeavor. You can contact me: By email at: mikesoldecars@yahoo.com By phone: 661 766 9141 I live in my shop, so the phone # is good 24-7...unless I am sleeping!! LOL A rare thing!! Cheers, Mike
  7. Red rings a bell, or something like it...been a few days, my older memory sucks!! Probably the same one...how many are out there??? Mike
  8. Hey Todd, cannot help with your block off manifold problem, I am just into building wood for Buick Woodies!! Making them run is another dept!!! Mike
  9. I saw one on eBay, recently, but not needing it myself, didn't flag it. I tried to find it tonight, with no luck. You should try, it was reasonably priced as I recall. If it shows up again, I will send you the connect info. Sorry, Mike
  10. Hi Venessa, Mike here with a frame, are you inquiring if I still have it? Yes, I do. Make me an offer, any reasonable one would get it!! And let me know where you are, I am in CA, but I have a friend who can haul it to you. My phone # is shown above, & my email...Mike
  11. Hey, great info in a short time, all good stuff, I AM impressed!! While I am here, anyone know of the going rate for a new large hide, color is royal blue if it makes any difference. Thanks in advance, Mike
  12. Paul, you are way closer to him than I am, so good luck, Mike...in CA!!
  13. Your pictures don't show the wood very well, could you add some more, rear shots? I have an almost full set of 49 wood, good for patterns, or possibly restorable, depending on how far you want to go. In 1949, 1,830 Super & 632 Roadmaster Estate Wagons were produced, and Rob's assessment of 1% survival is probably right on. Mike
  14. Hey Rockyp, I took your parts to OK as planned, leaving here last Wed, July 24th, so Fred has them, and may have already contacted you. His # is: 208 401 5999 Let me know when they arrive, right here is fine. Regards, Mike
  15. I had a little fun here... I have some mag base lights that I like to add to anything on my trailer, just for extra rear lighting, brakes & turn signals. Usually these get attached on the roof area, but I didn't want to damage the paint, so... I noticed the 48 Pontiac taillights were mounted beside the trunk lid, and there was a floor inside, so I added them inside the trunk so that they shone through the openings for the taillights. Giving them a "Frenched in" look!! Taillights, brake lights & turn signals all worked this way all the way home...got a few thumbs-up!! I added a pic that kind of shows them, they are lit as 4 way flashers, so are brighter than just taillights, hard to really see. Later, Mike
  16. I am back from my trek to Oklahoma, and ran through heavy rain both ways!! Whatever happened to the dust-bowl?? It probably only rained on my account, and is drying up now!! I added some pics, so let me explain them: I had meant to show the states as I left or entered them, but I missed the first sign as I left OK into Texas, since it was only 20 or so miles into the trip, and I was still concentrating on how the load was following. Oops, passed it!! No turning back!! I caught the next one, from Texas into New Mexico, along with the next 2 pics at the same time. The doors & trunk are not actually mounted here, but are stuffed into their openings with plenty of padding, and held in place with 2 each ratchet straps. This enabled us to fill the body up to the window level with all the parts!!! (Did you ever totally take each & every part off a car? This one has!! And the body, trunk are full, as well as my 8' truck bed, floor to ceiling. Couldn't fit in the hood, got all else!!) I ran into some mechanical problems with the trailer just before leaving NM, causing me to lose my new trailer tire & almost a couple of rain-filled hours!! The u-bolts holding my left rear trailer axle to its spring gave out, so the tire got jammed under the rear of the fender at 70 MPH...what a plume of smoke that tire left as it died!! (Only 1500 miles on it!!) But I got connected with a great mechanic who made my day...I was back on the road in an hour & a half, and reasonably, no less. I will post his info here when I get the energy to fetch his card from my truck!! Needless to say, I never got to add any pics of the other states I went through...not so easy to stop for a "Kodak moment" on the interstate freeways. The last few shots show it at home, where it still sits until this week sometime when I will begin to unload it. It has a show quality paint job, which really amazed me, didn't really expect that from pics on eBay, but it is extremely good!! More later, Mike
  17. Hey Rockyp, I am headed to his place in OK this Wed, so I will be taking your parts to him. He will probably be headed your way not long after I get there. I will keep you posted, Mike
  18. Well, on this upcoming Wednesday, I am off to Oklahoma to pick up my latest project... See the pics, not the best, but I will post more when I can... (By the way, OK is 1200 miles each way for me, and fuel is sickeningly expensive, but I will enjoy seeing the countryside...LOL) What I am after is a 1948 Pontiac 4 door Sedan that has had much done towards being restored, but the previous owners lost interest along the way... I can relate to their dilemma, sometimes it is tough staying focused, keeping motivated! I keep many projects going at the same time, in an attempt to help eliminate this problem. If I burn out on one, the next one, or the last one, or any one of them will keep me motivated!! I must admit though, sometimes when I see them all, it scares me!! "So many old cars, so little time!!" Wish me luck, Mike
  19. I am parting out a 1953 Super. The motor appears pretty complete, and there is a radiator. I am in So CA, near Bakersfield. Not the NW, but not too far. Email me if you like: mikesoldecars@yahoo.com Or call: 661 766 9141 Mike
  20. They are still here. He wasn't going near you on the current trip. He is due here soon to pick up a pair of cars, and your stuff will go then. I'll let you know when they leave here.
  21. Hey Tom, Did the 51 run into the tree, or was it there, close by and the tree grew into it??? Hard to tell from the pics, but sad either way!! Any more news?? Mike
  22. Hey Tim, I'll bet you didn't think your mom would get this kind of attention when you started this link!! I cannot make any excuses for Rob's comments, since he has always been right on in the past. I only hope your mom is enjoying it as it was meant to be enjoyed!!! Hey, and tell your dad to relax, Rob is a good guy, and besides he is way up there in Canada. Yup, he is a Canuk!! Cheers, Mike PS: She does look pretty...really!
  23. Hey, Rob, Give me a few weeks to grow a rosy beard!!! But, I refrain from wearing red around Christmas...go figure! It grows way faster as I age...especially in my eyebrows, nose & ears!! Yuck!! I hate shaving, but can only tolerate a beard. for so long...any way out of it that any of you guys know?? And forget about the saggy trailer roof we have our ways of curing that.., Big secret!!!!! Meanwhile, trying to stay on track with Buick Woodies....or any Woodies!! I will post some pics soon, since it is warming up. It is really hard to carve wood when you are shivering! And not so easy when you are sweating! But we do what we can!! Cheers, Mike
