  1. Me too. Even though I love my old cars, and working on them too, I have to take time off from it. Partly to do other stuff for the house and my wife (who is a lovely and understanding lady!) but also for my own sanity. I'm into photography and music, so I do more of that for a stretch, then get back to the old cars. Keith
  2. As always Robert, great looking work. Nice technique. Keith
  3. Thank looks about right, as I have a '56 Roadmaster with a Carter 4bbl. I'll try to post a picture of mine later on today. Keith
  4. I've read this thread with interest, as I have a '41 Roadmaster that I just got on the road last year and I have what sounds like the same idle issue, though I don't have any issues accelerating. An irregular pop-pop through the exhaust, just like Tim describes. My engine is completely rebuilt, but a bad valve would cause a regular miss. Perhaps my issue is just due to tuning? Thanks for sharing. Keith
  5. Anyone else with info about this out there? Thanks, Keith
  6. I'll take a shot of my heater A/C control on my '56 and post it. It's just a bit wider than the usual, and like John said, it is quite easy to service. Keith
  7. I had to have the master (power) cylinder rebuilt on my '56 over the winter, and it cost me about $500. Ouch! But the brakes work fine now. Keith
  8. John; That looks like a nice conversion on your radio, the one in my '56 is still all AM, though a friend, a retired radio guy, completely redid it for me several years ago. Those readings don't look too bad considering the ambient temps. My car was something of a chronic overheater (I think due to the factory A/C) till I put a modern type high density core in it a few years ago, now with a switched rad fan it's nearly as good as a modern car (with a good cooling system that is!). I had the original rad recored a couple of years after I bought it in '76, but like I said, I always struggled with the engine temps till I re cored it again around 2000. Keith
  9. It looks nearly ready to run again, Robert! I may of mentioned earlier about the trails with the heat riser on my '41. I went through an awful lot of work to try to get mine freed up, all to avail, so I did just bent the valve to the open position like you did. I really wanted to have working the way it was designed, but couldn't get it to work again. Keep up the good work, I love to see the pictures of your progress! Keith
  10. Very cool, Mike. Nice to see another vintage piece being saved! As an aside. A few weeks ago I took my '41 Roadmaster coupe to an old mansion that is now a museum because they wanted some WWII era cars, and numerous lovely young ladies time and time again were fawning on my car! I must say, it was my car they fawned on, NOT me! A couple said that they really want to get a car like it sometime. Anyway, I was surprised by the interest from the younger folks. Thanks Mike. 11. I know I've said this before, Robert, but the parts are looking great! Thanks to Mrs. Shadetree for getting back to the beastie that bit her, by far the best thing to do. Glad to hear that your Dad is doing well. Keith
  12. Hey Mike, nice to see the new addition! More pictures when you can, please. I'd still love to have one of these beauties! I did a restoration on an early 50's maghony runabout (boat) 20 years ago, so I would need to "dust off" my wood working skills if I got into a Buick woody! Anyway, keep posting whenever you can. Thanks! Keith
  13. Wow, what a deal! I think that here the current price would be several times that. Sometimes you get lucky! Keith
  14. I found that a drizzly, rainy night worked best, early spring before the bugs is best, but not always possible. Too many close neighbours and trees nearby to try outside for me. Keith
  15. The wiring on my '41 Buick was in a similar condition, a fire just waiting to happen. The scariest thing was that the PO. actually drove it in that condition. Great looking work on your car, and love the story. Keep it coming! Keith
  16. That should be a really nice choice for that car, Matt. Keith
  17. Awesome, Joe. I take it shakedown drive went well? Keith
  18. Great looking find, Matt. I used to own a '56 Special 4 door in early 70's, so it brings back some memories. It will be a nice cruiser when you get her going. Keith
  19. Robert; I've found that those "ugly" parts often work really nice. Great work! Keith
  20. It was a beautiful spot for the car show, John! Keith
  21. Thanks, John! That was taken at the unybca regional last August, were we won the long distance award. That was an extended long weekend of about 600+ miles round trip from our home. Keith
