  1. Website still says separate, but either way an awesome museum and vault was great! They have a nice book in the gift shop that I bought that has most, if not all, of the pictures of the cars in vault...as Ed mentioned, no pics allowed. Flew out there from NY when I was out there for the week for the Superbowl this year, and I became a member. It was only a mile or so from my hotel in Beverly Hills...which was great as it's in a nice location with plenty to do, but still hit traffic!! The membership also gets you into other museums such as Audrain in RI FYI if interested, but a great museum to support as member. Highly recommended if in LA. Chuck

  3. To clarify, depends what row you are in In 36B class one year definitely had a lot of mud under my car that year as you need to park on a slight hill for some classes (and tires for many were all spinning)...luckily, I have a lift at home and took a few hours to clean it all up when home. As the youngest judge selected as undercarriage that year , I can confirm mud was on a number of cars (where we are instructed not to deduct FYI when that happens). A number of years before that in the rain, same thing and I didn't notice all the mud until the spring after all hardened up...live and learn...clean it up right away I agree on the flat areas on field, somewhat moot. All good.
  4. Saw this when announced and glad to hear, 7/28-29 2023. Only 58 miles from my home Norwich car museum is a must see. FYI for those wanting to spend some time in Upstate NY in July, largest show in the Northeast (around 8000 cars), Syracuse Nationals is 14th, 15th and 16th. Too bad not back to back weeks
  5. Ordered one for my '66 from Jim's battery in May. Took a few weeks longer than the date I was given, but I got it a week or so ago. Chuck
  6. Nice! Here is the full video if anyone wants to see, around 6 mins. Chuck
  7. Thank you Marion and the Tidewater region for a fantastic meet! My son and I just got back home around 9:45 PM to Syracuse NY area (left at 10am and stopped many times for breaks) .....Just finished unpacking. Loved the tours, events, judging and especially meeting old friends..and making new ones This meet was the 10th "anniversary" of my son and I attending AACA meets with our cars! In 2012 Reading, we knew no one...now we knew probably more that half of the members at this GN Thank you all!! Chuck Swanson
  8. If parts only, I may be able to help in June if that works. Need more details. Chuck
  9. That line is almost always very quick to answer. They do though have limited hours, and they can only answer plate questions...nothing else. You can also check online now for new custom plate availability, so not as many people call freeing up the line for YOM checking. Have never had a problem with that department
  10. Glad you are OK! I always wear a helmet when riding bikes too. Chuck
  11. Hi Marion, Typo I believe on the email above as I got a delivery error. Should probably be tbears3@verizon.net as Verizon does not use .com. Thanks! Chuck
  12. Had a great time the meet and the show! First time there. On Wed. drove 14 hours from Syracuse NY area with our '66 Caddy show car (in enclosed trailer), and we won a Senior award. Also met up with 4-5 others from Syracuse area who enjoyed the event, some drove, some flew. One even bought a car in the car corral. Drifting with son in the Mopar was fun too! Nice meeting all the people, and special thanks to the Hornet's Nest region who put on a great event. Enjoyed judging and loved the tent picnic too. Over 15+ hour trip back yesterday, but we stopped at Shenandoah caverns for a nice break heading home and took our time. Liked the newer vehicles too in the corral as we are looking for a second southern diesel truck, but that didn't pan out. Walked the entire swap meet Th-Fri and also bought around $2000 of mostly Caddy parts (2 pics below)....filled our short bed truck Hard to see in pics, but around 80+ solid bumper ends, among other parts, including '57 Fleetwood parts, that were headed to scrap.

10+ year father/son resto. Won 1st junior award in 27g.
  14. I know 120 miles away or so, but Butch's Transmissions in Syracuse may be able to help if you can't find anyone. They just rebuilt my transmission in my '66 Caddy. They also did my '66 Nova a decade ago. They know the old cars. Chuck
  15. Took my '65 Cadillac Eldorado tonight and a nice Franklin, Cadillac, a '41 V12 Lincoln, and a Pierce Arrow *survivor* showed up at our local cruise night! (Sno Top Ice Cream for those in area). On another good note, the green 4-door survivor on end belongs to a kid in college, who had 3 of his friends in the car! I asked him to display the car inside for the upcoming Syracuse Nationals. Chuck
  16. Steve thanks. Edited above, July 16-18, 2021. We have some local AACA members going there and they will be looking. I had a transmission go on a car I was supposed to bring , but I still may make the trip too! Thanks, Chuck
  17. ATTN all upstate NY members and surrounding states. I am a volunteer coordinator for the Oneida Lake Region AACA "Memories on Mainstreet" display at the Syracuse Nationals July 16-18, 2021, Horticulture building this year. This show draws a crowd of around 90,000 people, along with around 8000 cars! (One of the largest gatherings in the Northeast) I have helped put on this display for the last 15 years or so, and have been the coordinator for the last 8-9 years. Typically, we display cars from the early 1990s to 1989, many from local AACA members. We usually sign up people to become AACA members (National and local) as we have a table in the building hosted by other volunteers from the OLR club. Usually I only have enough room for 10 or so non- OLR member cars outside of the club (33 total). However, this year we have the *entire* NY State Fair Horticulture Building. I believe I can fit another 50-60 cars as of today. Cars need to be original looking cars. Although the cars in this building are not judged, one will be selected as a top "Memories on Mainstreet" car. OK to bring stanchions if you like, but have not had any issues. If you have attended this show in the past, the benefit is your car will be indoors, vs the 7000+ that are outside. Cars will be spaced further apart this year. Please send me a message if you are interested and I can send details. This is a great 3 day show! Chuck
  18. Not sure if same for other cars, but on my Cadillacs, I use the offset wheel weights (CAX weights) so the the wheel covers fit. If regular weights used, interferes with the wheel covers and won't install or fit incorrectly on small weights. Another fix is the newer weights on inside of wheels to balance. Chuck
  19. I have 5 parts cars-Cadillac, and a 40' Conex, along with another 40' containers worth of parts (Mostly 60s Cadillac, some 50s and 70s, along with Nova and 69 Mopar parts). Much easier to restore with parts cars, but have 14 acres to store stuff. Chuck

  21. Just saw check cashed on 5/20, which was sent in Feb for this GN. From earlier post, wondering if a decision has been made if checks are being cashed (as supposedly they were waiting to be cashed until they knew), or not related to any decision as of course they can always write a check from region to refund.
