1. here's the page from the manual - seems to have disappeared up above in the thread.... be careful identifying the dimples before drilling - someone posted somewhere about mistaking some other marks for the dimples and now gets a lotta water in thru the floor. my last 2 fotos above are of the support i had put in there for the baby seat anchor point another thing about the retractors, mine would retract better if I had shortened the belt before installation. because the pivot point is lower than its normal position way up at shoulder height, there is too much belt rolled up when the belt is latched.
2. i'll just get a 15" for the drivers side methinks...
3. hiya. my Driver's wiper is hitting the A-pillar They're the 18" perfect coverage otherwise. Before I go for 15" has anyone had this issue? Hints? They seem to be sitting correctly and are great otherwise
4. hey there, Just thought I'd check since we'll be over there. Probably hit the show Sat and/or Sunday. Gonna be based in Long Beach, CA for a week, then Phoenix Feb 1-4. Orlando for NADA convention 8-11 Feb. Will be in San Diego this Saturday - any car shows then? Would love to get to more parts of the countryside, but can't do everything...
5. " Its nice to finally put something together, rather than apart.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->" CLASSIC ! that's lookin good with a lick o paint !
6. Update for Aussie owners. I have had success finding them here in Oz via www.allamericanautoparts.com.au Advice from them: The front shocks # 5759 are $ 160.00 pair and the rear # 5760 are $ 170.00 pair and they come with all of the necessary bushings to install them.
7. thanks for that info. i have a mate who may be coming from Long Beach in a week and a half - I'll attempt to get em sent to him if it all goes to plan. the rear passenger shock is pretty rattly so whilst it's not ideal, it's hopefully still driveable until i get them i have written to a bunch of parts suppliers here to see if anyone has em. we'll see...... I don't really wanna unbolt the existing shocks and take to locals for a *near* match if I can get your recommended shocks somehow
8. thanks for that ! incidentally, i was more remarking on the ratio of freight to part itself. really because it's AMAZING to see the low price of those shocks. did they come with the bushings? or would they be ordered separately? and i found the smilies (only right there in front of me)
9. FYI any other Aussies on here - the part #s don't match to our local Monroe stock. we're looking at whether to buy in the USA, altho from what we can see, the items are $20ish per side but freight is $45 each if i knew how to put one of those SHOCK smilies i'd insert here....
10. thanks Ed - I need new rears for mine - good that I searched. I showed this to our head technician - coincidentally he had a set of Sens-a-tracs in his Commode - i mean Commodore 20 years ago I'll go this way in mine if we can get them easily.
11. thanks for the kind info fellas. i'll get crackin on it today dunno bout that spelling tho Ed... seems a bit how ya goin'.... dead set mate...
12. well.... i had a blow out on Sunday and the tyre is rooted. all 4 had better be replaced, as the tyre had perished and all might be on the way out. plus I dunno if i'll get a match, as Coopers aren't that popular here and if available, they are usually the 4x4 selection from my epxerience just wondering whether anyone can recommend a brand/style that can be sourced here in Australia. I'll go to the local tyre shops, but any hints would be appreciated as they may narrow the search. thanks
13. love the license plate ! so cool to see the radio-less dash
14. i love your sign off over at the alini.com page! i know we keep saying it, but THANKS for this series the pics are great - the more the better any detailed closeups of every section (before and after) are appreciated.
15. i used rivets, but this sounds good too
16. this is great ! thanks for the update. so happy for you that you've got no rust issues with the windshield and back window. what a time saver that'll be!
17. Thanks also fornthe mention of Roadhouse I was trying to remember where I put my CD compilation of all Riviews (from ROA) & I tahen remembered I put it in my DVd cover for Roadhouse! Ha! Maybe there'll be some info on this in there, using the index from http://www.rivowners.org/members-only/article_index/lighting.php
18. Other related link: http://forums.aaca.org/f177/65-riv-hide-away-headlights-231039.html I located the relay. Everything seems plugged in properly. There's what looks like another relay just a bit higher in the inner fender wall a coupla inches from the visor relay. What is it? Tomoro my foreman and I will test to ensure power is getting where it's sposed to (well, I'll watch him and hopefully learn something) I had the car up on the hoist and man, it's not looking very easy to get to the motor, tucked in where it is. Any hints? As mentioned, the visors moved yday when I closed the hood. Didn't do it for me today tho... Anyway, if we can be sure power is flowing we'll take the next step. Thanks
19. Thanks for the info. I'll have a look this arvo if possible. Bloody thing has to start playing up when I'm planning to go away tomoro morning for a coupla days, doesn't it... grrrr oh well, at least I'll get out of driving out to dinner and the pub... "sorry man, gotta go in your car - my lights don't work"
20. This was a nice thread to read. I don't seem to have major dramas with my clamshells, tho just tonight I had the second occurence of them not opening. The last time was on the way home from a restaurant at night in a dark beachside part of town. Ouch. Tonight, I had the car on a hoist at work so thankfully wasn't needing to drive it home, but I found the only way I could get em to open was to slam the bonnet. Voila. Open. Switch off lights. Switch on = nothin Slam bonnet = open I don't have the manual here at home with me, so I haven,t starting reading into it, but has anyone else had this occur? They haven't been used for a week or so. Just outta practise maybe,,, if youve had this symptom a hint would be good before I start fiddling with the wrong things. Thanks guys
21. Love this line: "No body work done. The only issue....the dirt. I have removed enough sand to start my own beach." thanks for the informative site, mate !
22. thanks fellas. i'll have a look at those possibilities again today. i have it booked in to the guys who fitted new Waldrons muffler, so we'll see if it's an exhaust leak - tho i had a look with one of my mechanics on Saturday. i covered the tail pipes and Tony couldn't hear any leaks through the system. tho it was tough to hold the rags tight with my limited wingspan. not the most reliable testing, i know. man, this is weird (to my limited experience brain): i got one of my guys to change the oil and filter y'day and now the smell is slightly different during my drive home y'day and again to work this morning. most prominent when i gas it. Edit: just thinking more about what led up to the smell... I had the centre console, a/c control and associated wiring lose for the purposes of fitting the carpet. would it be possible to have dislodged or broken something to do with the blower during this process? i know you can't speculate about my carelessness, but is everything (incl wiring) within reach and therefore easy to bugger up? could some wiring be touching something hot due to my handiwork?
