  1. i was just able to load a coupla pages over there...
  2. hey y'all. wasn't an issue. i got the car passed on Thursday ! yeeeehaaa !
  3. "I couldn't tell the difference between a 401 and a GS by driving it although my ego could." "When I have pistons the size of oil cans, just a little nudge of the gas gives me the seat of the pants feel I want." two classic statements...
  4. awesome to have a local(ish) contact if it arises, so thanks ! I'm hoping it won't be an issue tho....
  5. THEY'RE IN ! ! ! ! ! fits in nicely with the retractor behind the armrest, but the gap is a little too snug, meaning they don't retract without a little bit of help. I'll look at perhaps adjusting the bracket into which the screws fit so that the gap is a little bigger. only needs a millimetre or two to flow more freely. I'll put the back belts in place once I have the seats in, as they'll get grubby on the floor as it is right now.
  6. "Run it !! Have fun," i hear ya ! just balancing staying on the right side of the law... so the running around has been limited to trips to and from the seatbelt man, the panel shop, the engineer etc...
  7. thanks guys. i appreciate the feedback. off to work now... i'll see if my guy makes a big desl about it. i too have learned to avoid turning that far... in the 60 miles i have driven it.... yep. a mere 60 miles.... ahhhh maybe tonight i'll get to drive her a decent distance...
  8. what did you end up doing here? i have a lot of movement back there. prices seem high..... would be good to know what did/didn't work...
  9. this may be a really stupid thing to bring up, but my tires are rubbing on the inside when I turn at full lock. i suppose the tires are too wide. i will have to sort this out for registration. can anyone recommend the best way to tackle this without getting new tires? is there a way to restrict the angle to which i can turn the wheel? i won't do the work myself, but i'd like to advise the mechanic who will do it. has anyone had to tackle this issue?
  10. i wish I could help, but I'm just writing to say thanks for the awesome pics. I'll need to do something with my exhaust at some point - at least getting a new muffler to start with. looking forward to any further info on this. it looks like good workmanship, as you say...
  11. love this post ! exactly how I feel when I'm drivin my new ride !
  12. Thanks Jim ! I replied to your email as well. I'll hafta jump on that Manual while they're available !
  13. Thanks for that info! I appreciate you checking all those sources. Interesting that itk's not in anything that was available to buyers at the time... Yes, I need it from an official publication. Sorry to ask, but do you have a scanner or fax that you could use to send me a copy of the relevant page? If so, my fax # is +61265841489 or email andrewpl0wright AT yah00 d0t. C0m I'll try to track down the 65 Body Service Manual - I knew there was another Manual aside from the Chassis Manual. Thanks again
  14. hi there, I was told today that I need to: a) get a weigh bridge ticket, or produce some original documentation proof of the kerb weight I have looked thru my copy of the (1.5 inch thick) 1965 Chassis Manual index and can't find any documentation of the car's kerb weight. Does anyone know which Manual this would be in? I am allowed to produce a copy of the car's Kerb Weight from the original "books" as proof of its weight for registration purposes (and save $50 on getting it weighed). is there a different Manual with this sort of info for 65 cars aside from the Chassis Manual? would it be useful to have? in the meantime, can someone please provide a copy of the relevant page showing the official kerb weight?
  15. "The other end will open a beer when you are done. Useful little device." indeed !
  16. so, for anyone really scared and nervous about breaking ANYTHING on their new (old) first vintage car (like me), here's a pic of the lamp cover just popped out: as mentioned in one of those Caddy posts, i actually used a pointy right angled tool to pull the edge of the lens in towards the centre, directly above the tab. they are much more flexible than I'd have imagined. they make a bit of a click/cracking sound but they survived intact. Here's the section with the eyeball dangling all zombie-like:
  17. OK.... a better Google search led me right back to this forum: http://forums.aaca.org/f177/rear-console-lens-65-a-264406.html sorry for the trail above, but I'll leave it for visual reference of the lens (and the Caddy version) sorry also for this (hopefully) last question, am I relying on the lens flexing in towards its CENTRE to release the tabs , thus having a tab show itself free above the chrome part?
  18. here's a link I found thru google: 68 CDV Rear Courtesy Light Cover Removal ? it's very interesting to see the Caddy version of this lens! they talk about using a flat screwdriver.... and from: http://6364cadillac.multiply.com/journal/item/618 willingtoncadillac wrote on May 24, '10 Just a quick note to those who have the type on the left. These plastic lenses are probably pretty brittle by now and patience is key to removing them. A thin screwdriver or blade can be used to carefully pry and lift the tabs out of their holes a bit at a time. If the blade is slid around the edge until it hits one of the tabs, then pry it up, the chances of cracking the lens are less. The ring and housing are one piece on these and screw into place, unlike the Fleetwood unit. HTH, Jeff
  19. a-ha ! from BuickFarm.com: good to see what the lens looks like when out.
  20. thanks from me too. I supposed mine were correct. but great to have confirmation...
  21. wotchootalkinbout Willis ? Can anyone please advise how you can remove the central pieces on the rear window trim ? I then suspect the next step is to do like the diagram says...
  22. Hi, about to attempt to pull the light off the C-Pillar ie. the light above the rear passenger's shoulder. Any hints before I bust something? just for clarification, I want to lift the trim up from that piller in order to mount the shoulder point of the lap/sash belts in the back. i guess one has to remove this light cover to change globes, too...
