  1. Mine is out at the moment so I'm in the process of scraping, wire brushing, then paint and replacing mine. It was a bit caked with gunk and surface rust when the screen came out, so a workmate and I thought it best to clean it up properly before I get it put back in it's back to bare metal now. next: - acetone - primer - spray paint (i got a can that's near enough to body colour) I'll post a couple pics of the bare aperture
  2. hmmmm this looks good. thanks a heap for posting, cos I really would like to just run toons over the existing gear. dunno how well it'll handle the bass ini some of my music tho now if only I could be sure my radio is working... i hear the warm click when i flick the dial around, but no static or nuffin'
  3. cool photos. thanks for sharing them!
  4. thanks Ed. I'll have a look for that. It'll be a good starting place to see how big a job I have ahead of me once the windscreen is out.... hopefully it's all beautiful under there.... we'll see..... ahhh. yeah, how dumb... I even posted on the thread....: http://forums.aaca.org/f177/64-buick-riviera-dash-pad-removal-306073.html
  5. ahhhhh all looks familiar ! I'm yet to tackle my FRONT window. back window and parcel shelf removal showed some nastiness, but all good now (after a few months since fixing it). that pic of your windscreen's top sill leaves me worried about how mine will look. plenty of crappy clear silicone on mine too, Lasse.... ("toilet-grade" ! ! ! LOVE IT !) I received my new carpet and rubber seals so I gotta get back into renovation mode soon. one thing I really hafta do is remove and re-fit my front windshield (it's leaking thanks to crappy sealing, so I don't drive in the rain!). I won't be doing it myself, but I am contemplating removing the dash pad to see how much the water has damaged the firewall area. from the experience you just went thru, Will i see much if I just remove the dash pad? I dunno about removing the dash/instruments/glove box etc in total - that'd be a total can of worms, I'd imagine...
  6. nice ! looks really cool. red and saddle is a good combo.
  7. i really like the look of the armrest - part of the deluxe trim ? my 65 just has the standard trim, just the horizontal armrests and small oblong wooden insert. just looking at that has got me psyched to install my new carpets ASAP after they arrive this month. get her nice and clean like a new car....
  8. check the boattail under the sign.
  9. ripper ! that's one classy GS
  10. here's what I posted over there at the V8 forum: my 65 Riviera has this on its bum. I have her way down under in Port Macquarie Australia now.... sorry about the darkness - could take a pic in daylight if ya like...
  11. hear hear. that grille in the boot looks cool ! nice interior.... very nice...
  12. this kinda thing is really useful: Cassette tape adaptor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia they're much harder to find these days, but I use them quite a lot... no molesting of the stereo required... delivers the audio signal to your tape players heads and voila... this might be the latest version:
  13. yeah... to think he gave away the RIV and kept a Merc.... (says a car dealer) my mate Mike took to calling me Patrick for a while when i bought mine...
  14. and why not send it to Ed's locksmith ? get him to make a couple sets (he'll be so pleased Ed referred Russ, I'm sure... !?!?)
  15. It's great reading this since y'day. When I saw Tom's post about 1 key on '64s I thought "sheesh, my '65 must have had the locks changed" cos why would they go to the inconvenience (?) of two keys...? then to hear they went back to 2 keys (security? valet key?) in '65 i'm pleased to hear it's as original (not that it's such a big modification if my locks were indeed changed...) my father in law in Japan actually made a key from scratch for their Toyota Celsior (lower grade LS400) years back. he's a mad wood worker and decided to do it as a project/hobby. carved the head outta wood, then the key out of steel. at least he had a key to copy tho... I didn't check, but I expect it wouldn't have started the car (only opened it).... unless he also made a chip to go in it...?
  16. dang. that 58 Chev shot is nice. full o great metal... hey - i better watch it again (for the millionth time too !) actually i watched it sometime earlier this year...... better get me that Buick Riviera movie too !
  17. "raw steel look" - i thought the same. then someone way more practical than me here at work commented on how annoying it would be to look at a car like that when it's in the sun ! great to see these pics with all the cars "guts" on display e.g. with fenders and door skins off.... would be good to have detailed close-ups of some of these sections, but maybe too late ?
  18. nothin like a burn on a hut summer's day ! incidentally, my high school overlooks that beach. (pretty rough ol day for waves y'day, but nothin like a beach to keep our minds OFF the books 20? . . . . 23 years ago)
  19. i got it buffed, polished and paint protection put on a few days ago. one of our detailers is always keen for overtime, so I figured why not.
  20. that is one sexy Riv you got there Eddie !
  21. yeah ! that TV soitainly caught MY eye ! and how cool about having bought that new ! Tony told me he was dropping by to see you.
