  1. this is what it's all about.................passing along information, helping each other out and having a good time. Matt
  2. Bodywork, bodywork, and more bodywork. Taking my time...................gotta get it as close to being correct as possible. Although yesterday was nicer than today. Matt
  3. So, who would make the complete kit that "Kanter" offers for cars? Steele probably? Is it more economical to purchase the "kit" or without coming close to driving me completely insane looking up part #'s, does someone else out there have a kit available with all rubber components? $1700 + for my convertible and should include all rubber seals for the car including lip seals, hood and trunk, bumpers, etc. The list looked pretty extensive on their website, but how complete it is, is yet for me to determine. Matt
  4. More bodywork today! And, what a beautiful day it was! 55deg! So, I opened the doors on the garage to have some fresh air while I worked. Curiosity got the best of two of my neighbors, so I had some company for a little while. They were wondering what all of the metal banging has been the last couple of weeks and much to their amazement, they saw a totally different car than they saw come off of the trailer and into the garage! Many compliments were made of my progress and my "ego" went through the roof! I'm taking my time with this and I've heard that the deeper and darker the color, the more imperfections stand out in paint. Even though my car is gonna be a driver, I want it to be as nice as I can make it! What primer/sealer is recommended? I'm getting close to thinking about finalizing things before paint. So, I figured I would post that question. Thanks and look forward to all comments. Thanks Matt:D
  5. You could also have someone fabricate some adapter plates and move the seat back on those. I know several "tall" people that have done this to have enough leg room to drive. Should be the same scenario.
  6. that's the only kind of hood ornament for a convertable in Texas. you puttin' one on yours Mike??? hehe:cool:
  7. By the way.......wifey is no dummy! I try to be as honest as possible so's I don't get in trouble on the purchases. I slip a couple in every once in awhile.......carpet set is ordered.....sssshhhhhhh! Matt
  8. More bodywork tonight. Only about an hour or so. Had a lot of dust and undercoating to clean/sweep and vacuum up of of the floor and anywhere that had a horizontal surface. It seems to be coming along nicely. Still, since I haven't done this stuff in a long, long while and nothing ever this intense, I still catch myself wondering if I'm doing it correctly. Getting closer on making a decision on my interior material. There is some nice "faux" leather out there that is really impressive stuff. I am open to any and all pictures, (the more detailed the better) of any 46, 47 or 48 buick convertible interiors. Especially interested in door panel detail shots, the rear seating area and the convertible top tray area. I will be making all of these myself, so I want every possibility that I might be able to get it somewhat close to original. Matt
  9. Ya ever just get the itch??????? If I didn't have so much going on with my convertible right now, I'd scratch that itch! Buick Buick | eBay
  10. God is watching over you and your family tonight. Sorry to hear of your loss. My house will be praying for you and yours! Matt
  11. Dave, I realize that. I work in the aluminum and zinc die casting industry and was wondering if anyone might have some old tools that we could run off some parts for. Maybe a chapter has a mold for an item they sell. Matt
  12. I would be interested in finding casting dies that would have made club license plate holders, ashtrays, beltbuckles or anything promotional. If any of the clubs or individuals have anything interesting, or that you might want cast and have a mold or die, let me know. Thanks Matt<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

  14. Not too much to report. Still working on a little bodywork. Bumping metal is a work of art! I like my studwelder and am getting better at straightening panels. Broke up the monotony and wire wheeled the area under the rear fenders to remove the old undercoating. Some of the stuff flaked right off, while other parts is gonna take a lot more work to remove. Not too much time in the garage this weekend. Rested! I'll try to get some more done during the week. Matt
  15. Hard as you try...........sometimes, as much as you think, ponder and consider......................you just don't understand the point. This would be a wonderful item to be on display. Nuf said!
  16. See, the thing is that the post uses a new app. You can only see the part, with price you want to pay, and picture IF the part applies to one or more vehicle you have listed in your profile. Hahahaha.
  17. Dave, As cute as he is...............he probably has more girls in his pocket than we have!!!! Matt:D
  18. Hey Lamar.......I'm like you and don't understand why everything is always so far away.................Matt
  19. I also have 2 extra 47 buick dashes that one will get painted and I'll hang a radio in it with extra gages and lights on the wall. Might hang the other on the front of the garage!!?? Matt
  20. this kind of stuff really makes for nice garage art. I've got the dash from a 48' Olds that I'll probably hang up. Nice idea too for the headlight doors. Have some off of the 48 olds.......
